It was time for another induction to the Dragons. This time of a very unlikely person. Shugo Yuy, a man who had opposed him so often Mathew had lost count. And yet, here they were. It was funny how life worked out sometimes. But with Barker and his men they had bigger fish to fry.
He stood in the circle of Dragons rolling his shoulders. Clad in jeans and a shirtless. Fresh scars that looked like claw marks still healing on his face.
"Today someone wishes to call themselves a Brother. They think they are worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with you. They think your life is safe with them. Today you will decide if the Knight is worthy to be called Dragon."
The men shuffled and grunted.
"Let him step forth so the man can be measured. Not by Qi, not by weapons. But by his own strength."

Shugo listened to Mathew's speech about Shugo joining the Dragons. A team... it had been a while since he had been part of a team. It felt good. Though he was sure a lot of his team mates did not like him. They had no reason to. Hell he yelled at half of them for killing Barker's soldiers last time they had fought side by side.
Shugo himself was also shirtless, wore a pair of jeans, and had arm and foot wraps on for the fight. Mostly to soften the blow of his punches and kicks against Mathew. He was a comrade, no reason to hurt him.
"Thanks for having me. It's an honor to think that I might be worth being called a Dragon by the end of today."

"Oh we will know long before tonight."
He stopped himself from calling him kiddo or something. Now wasn't the time. He also wasn't going to waste time. Mathew launched himself forward at Shugo full speed, pivoting on his right foot as he brought his left elbow out and upward trying to slam it in to his chin.

Shugo would use both hands and place them under his chin to help absorb the attack. Even after absorbing it, there was enough force to send Shugo into the air. The boy shook off the attack and flipped backwards to put some space between him and Mathew. Shugo would then immediately take a kenpo stance. Keeping his palms open Shugo would lead with his left hand holding it up at level with his shoulders and holding his right downward at level with his stomach. He would wait for Mathew to continue his onslaught.

"Tsk tsk."
He clicked his tongue, defensive fighting. Not a bad thing, but a Dragon would need to show he can be the sword as well as the shield. He advanced upon Shugo again, slower this time, feinting with a quick left jab before sending his right foot to slam in to Shugo's left shin.

Shugo saw both the feint left jab and the right kick coming. Trusting his ability to absorb the blow from the right kick. He went along with the feint acting like it surprised him, but while Mathew was retracting his left arm from the feint, Shugo would plow a right hook into Mathew's side, hopefully catching him off guard. At the same time he groaned and bared through Mathew's attack and quickly switched over to muay thai stance adjusting his right leg out forward instead, and shooting his left knee up hopefully hitting it into Mathew's stomach.

Mathew grunted with the blows. His brows furrowed. Shugo was stronger than he thought. Not the strongest he fought, but stronger than he thought. That surprised him. Which was good for Shugo in Mathew's book. He took the knee and his body curled in to it as his hands lashed out to grab at Shugo's head. Yanking on it quickly to try and pull him in for a headbutt.

Shugo allowed Mathew to grab his head as he pulled him in for a headbutt. The boy would push his head forward even more, however, so that the hardest part of the human head, the very top, would be hitting Mathew. If he wasn't careful, Mathew could very well slam his nose right into Shugo's head breaking it.
Shugo would retract his knee and attempt to slam it his foot down on top of Mathew's to get some shock value so that he could pull away. Fighting in this close quarters could prove to be disadvantageous.

His forehead slammed in to the top of Shugo's head, but nothing would break on Mathew's side. Shugo would get to learn a fun fact, thanks to Barker's tests Mathew's bones were all but unbreakable and harder than the stone he manipulated.
Still it was a hard blow and Mathew's vision blurred for a moment as his hands gripped the boy's head tighter. This time he would bring a hard knee up while he tried to refocus his vision.

The boy would lose consciousness for but mere moments when Endrin slammed his head down on Shugo's. The knee strike to his stomach would bring Shugo back into reality, and as Shugo was brought back he would throw a quick left swing at the side of Mathew's head. Shugo was a mess, blood and hair obstructed his doubled vision. Shugo hoped that Mathew's vision was just as bad as his own, hoping that the swing he took would even obstruct Mathew's vision even more giving him enough time to recover.

Oh it hit, and in a good spot too. Right in his fresh cuts from fighting Delilah, and he ripped open some of the scabbing with his blow causing Mathew to hiss as lights flashed in front of his eyes. He let go of Shugo's head.

For just a second, a grin flashed across Aryn's lips before it disappeared as her fist shot into the air and she shouted for a stop to the fight.
She strode forwards, no sign of her amusement aside from the glitter in her eyes. Her stride was log and swaying. It ate the distance quickly. There were no cheers from the crowd.
"Do you have what it takes to be a Dragon Warrior? To fight--to bleed?"

Mathew would simply step back and lower all guard and hostile intent when Aryn's cry rang out. It only took one Dragon to stop this. Now he would just stand back and watch the ceremony.

Shugo stumbled backwards as Mathew let go. The boy swept the hair and blood out of his eyes as he tried to refocus himself. Shugo heard the call to stop and instinctively put his arms down.

"I've.. I've spent the last 9 years of my life fighting. I've learned various different forms of martial arts from kenpo to muay thai and even advanced street fighting. I've worked through an advanced an artificial QI that was placed upon me through experimentation and created my own natural QI. On top of that all of you have seen me in action. So, I think I've got the fighting as a Dragon Warrior part covered. And well... as far as the bleeding part goes. Mathew can attest to this, I'm a good bleeder."
