Midday in Dragon Territory found Kiyr hard at work, on her hands and knees on a roof top. The sun was rather warm, but she had a decent supply of water to hand, as well as her rations. She'd decided that this location was the next suitable one for her project. The others were decent - she had made sure of it - but there were some structural issues that needed to be addressed before it was safe to move the earth to the tops of them. On the bright side, however, the grooves were finished on the other locations, and she'd commandeered several Dragons more knowledgeable with construction to go fix and reinforce them.
The blonde, at her spot in the centre of the roof, twisted and turned slowly, eying the space and mapping out where and how the grooves would work to carry the water safely, without draining too much away. She was in long shorts and a tank top, her hair braided with a little trinket tying the ends together. She shifted, shadow forming into wisps against her palms before she clutched two tools: a black chisel and a hammer. Setting the tip of the chisel, she quieted her constantly flickering mind and started chipping away at the cement rooftop. Tink, tink, shink, tang, tink, tink, shink, tang~

A shadow fell over Kiyr as Mathew took up position, standing in her sunlight. A curious glint in his eyes as a knowing smirk danced across his lips. The project interested him greatly. More so than even the scouting missions did at the moment. A renewable food source was important, and hiding them on the roofs of their buildings was a stroke of genius he thought.
So he was here for a surprise inspection. Staying silent to let Kiyr work. He assumed she would address him being here soon enough. Especially since he took residence in Kiyr's sun. A deliberate choice, she was who he was most interested in talking to in the project. For more than one reason.

The shadow that fell upon her was addressed after a moment. After all, the shape and outline were familiar, and the lack of footwear from the corner of her eye simply served to cement the knowledge of who it was. She twisted in her crouch and inclined her head before continuing her worth.
"Sir." More chipping after she uttered the word. She didn't think he was here to stop her work, after all, and if he was, he would make his intentions known soon enough, in whatever form they took. Her shadow hammer and chisel, of course, darkened within his shadow. Though her bangs fell forwards and dangled, they were ignored. They would just fall forwards again if she tucked them back behind her ears.

She was more than welcome to work. He wasn't here to stop her. Not at other moment at least. She could work and talk. He shifted out of her sun as he began to walk around her, glancing down at the actual work that she was doing.
"I know."
Just so she knew that he knew. It was said suddenly and without warning or explanation. He didn't sound pleased, nor was he displeased. His tone was simply firm, but neutral. His eyes shifted to his young apprentice, watching her work, and any reaction she may have.

Mathew would find she was striking the stone firmly, the chisel sharp and able to flake out bits and pieces of it. So far it was extending in a straight line for the wall. The first of many, and those would all be interconnected eventually.
She did, however, look up, one corner of her mouth pulled back to give him a perplexed expression.
"...know what, Sir..?"
He was sometimes cryptic, but mostly just confusing, for the moment. However, her gaze dropped back to her task, though she did glance up here and there. His being vague piqued her curiosity, and yet also made her wary. What did he know that he would say such, even though there wasn't any real negative or positive inflections upon the two words.
Tap tap crack.

He didn't answer her question and instead started walking to the edge of the building. Looking out over his kingdom. Well, technically he shared it with David and Leon. However with David off on his little quest and Leon only dealing with people that came to him. This was pretty much Mathew's kingdom, for now. And he would do everything to protect his subjects, from themselves and others. It was the burden of power, he loved it.
"A year ago did you ever think you would be here Kiyr? Working hard, sweating, but thriving."
He promised she could thrive, but he never promised it would be easy. And the girl was working hard. The young con artist had gone a long way, he wasn't surprised though. He had always been good at seeing past what someone was and instead seeing what they could be. It was how he knew the best way to use people.
You need to see potential to judge who is the right tool for the job.

Kiyr was silent for a few moments, continuing her chipping blows to the chisel. She glanced at him as he moved off, and worried the inside of her lip.
"To be honest..? No."
No, she certainly hadn't.
Perhaps in time, she would have thought she could have settled down, made her own place. But in this year? No.
"Perhaps with enough time."
But she couldn't deny: working herself hard was enjoyable. There was no shame in this. While she wasn't certain of what her family would think for being a warrior, for killing, to be working hard...she had no doubt they would give her their approval.

"So here you are with everything that was promised to you. Food, water, shelter, protection, and you are thriving."
Never let it be said that he did not keep his word. His eyes continued to scan the horizon of his domain. Looking toward the direction of God Territory, another domain that he held sway in. It was beautiful.
"So now what? What do you wish to have power for?"
The Dragon title. How badly did she want it, and why? He was curious if she knew on a conscious level or if she was reaching for it simply to reach.

Kyrie continued her tireless task, her strikes rhythmic. Almost tapping out a beat with the strikes of her black hammer against the shadow chisel. It filled the gaps that would otherwise be silent. She thought over his question for a little while.
"To protect and preserve this. To help all of this flourish and grow. This. Life. Eventually, offer it to others. And by that time, I will have, more than power itself, the knowledge of how to best wield it for anything else that comes to be." She sighed with a breath in, after, and another strike to the chisel. "In this, my answer has not changed so much from last time. That, regardless of whether I have a name--"
'Or if I prove my worth and take it in another method.'
"--or not, I will have power. And knowledge. But for now, I think I would simply appreciate fully regaining my complete focus in striving for the title, regardless of where that takes me."
