OOC: This thread is open... and you can start a fight if you want, but... preferably, this is a peaceful thread. Enubia, contact me if you don't want this to be a conjunction thread. And... no post order will be established until both recipients post here.Combat, technology, tactics, advantages, disadvantages, environment, morale... and then of course, strategy."..Scheiss..."God, he had to check out 'Sun Tzu's Art Of War' or something, sometime in the near future. People and their personalities he understood, but...
Standing up to reach over to grab the pieces, he began resetting his chess set, nodding promptly at the slightly nerdy-looking kid with glasses. "Gut game."He had to improve. His angry glances of frustration were scaring off any potential players. That, and... he still had 'Militia' to handle. Set up a time for an official meeting, get a gathering of people. In fact, upon hearing of Rem---Er, 'Chocorem' that he had a girlfriend, he later followed up by contacting him to contact her to give her a brief offer. Or at least settle a few things... The German intended to insure that emotional attachment wouldn't get in the way of either, or that it would end up beneficial. A little indirect note via Chocorem to her, giving Chocorem his phone temporarily to text his girlfriend. 'Meet me in the library on a Thursday. I'll be the one (trying) to play chess, with a Nazi eye-patch over where my left eye should be.'.
Of course, via text-messaging, that would probably end up being something more like... ''Leder' says te met u in teh librari on a thurs. Hes teh one plying chss, w/ a Nazi eyepatch over his left eye.'. Or something to that effect, the German would imagine.
Meanwhile... the German continued to wait for his next opponent.

Gabriel walked into the library that afternoon to try and find some potential amongst the the school, he had allready bumped int a few he found to be interresting, literaly bumped into them, now he was here either to find another challenge or yet again be dissapointed to find himself surrounded by the books many had neglected to read over the years, though he found great solisce within the great page turners of the old country many here found them to be rather dull. thats when he saw who he'd later come to know as "Unfettered", a fairly large man who was what looked to him like giving people dirty looks from beneath his eyepatch. "mind if I give you a run for your money?" Gabriel said as he approached the table holding an average sized chess board upon it, still in there resting places they lay like soldiers ready for any excuse to be sent to war. "no use in an army that merely stares each other into submission, thought we'd learn that from the cold war?" Gabriel repeated to add some credability.

READY FOR BRAWL---CHESS "mind if I give you a run for your money?" Stony silence was all that came, for the time being. However, "Unfettered's" gaze turned up towards the new potential opponent. Left hand quickly whisking away to his chin, stroking it, as if there was still a slight stubble there."no use in an army that merely stares each other into submission, thought we'd learn that from the cold war?" ...Ahh... a historian of sorts? The lucid look turned to one of interest, as he grinned at his apparent new opponent, shifting his hand from his chin into a beckoning motion towards chair, for his opponent to sit down next to. Black hair, a sharp looking face, but what of the credibility?"...Vell, it's not Germany's fault zat ze Ruzzian's are zuch slow learners. Und it vas not entirely ze Fazzerland's fault for ze cowardly 'Sitzkrieg' zat ze..." taking a breath of strong dislike for emphasis as he batted his eye for a moment to the 'battleground' (chess board), "English und French first imposed on us, ja?"Propping up his foot underneath the table, he kicked out the chair, for the person to sit down at, not letting his single eye loosen from the man's gaze."Ze 'Third Reich', after all, was much more... 'innovative'."And this would be the line that would determine a great many things from this man... Either leave in disgust at the amount of interest this German showed in his country's acclaimed 'darkest days', or...

"hmmm, a Nazi youth i supose, he fits the type" gariel though to himself Gabriel propped himself in the chair neatly pushed out for him,
"Im not the one to disagree with that, the German people themselves are a very 'efficiant' people" he said holding back his accent, best not to alert him that gabriel was of French descent

Verbal Trap---The Challenge "Im not the one to disagree with that, the German people themselves are a very 'efficiant' people" A small laugh..."But... ve are reckless, prideful, und passionate, vich may have cumulated to our downfall in Vorld Var Two---Come, zit down... you did challenge me, after all, ja? Pardon ze tangent." the grin only increasing. Not at all perceiving much less caring as to how this man might possibly be looking at him. Provided, if the man sat down, he'd promptly ask "White (Red)... or Black (Blue)?"

"I guess i'll take white, always enjoyed putting my opponent on the defensive." as he sat down he took his pawn at E2 and procceded to move it to E4, the best offensive move he knew, hopefully this German could teach him the finer art of offensive strategy, but all in good time. "your move" this time the french in him brought out a slight perk in his speech

The Question & The Idea "I guess i'll take white, always enjoyed putting my opponent on the defensive." "Aye? Gut. I'm eager to zee." After all, how could you grow if there was no competition?
The first move didn't take too long. The standard starter, and always a solid bit."your move" ---Mm? His eyebrow moved up, as his ears perked, beneath the massive amount of white hair. "Zay..." Fingers gently smoothing out over the black pawn at E7. "Dare I ask vat ethnicity you are? I've been a bit pompous over my own nationality... A rude mannerism, I might add..."The pawn went, expectantly, over from E7 to E5. But the German wasn't fully concentrating on the board. But more rather, his opponent's eyes. Why?
Well... there was a saying that the eyes are the windows into a person's soul. A reason that "Unfettered" had mildly been avoiding mirrors, aside from basic grooming needs.

"Zay..." the German said as he fingered the piece
(OCC: yes i said fingered!)
"Dare I ask vat ethnicity you are? I've been a bit pompous over my own nationality... A rude mannerism, I might add..." the question threw off Gabriel's focus for a second as he was contemplating the next 6 moves he was planning, "I'm mostly Western European, bits of English and German, but mostly French." he said trying to keep eye contact on that single eye peering deep inside him. he gracefully moved his hand over the pieces and moved his bishop to C4 from its resting place at F1

Then The Idea "I'm mostly Western European, bits of English and German, but mostly French." "Ahh... zat is an interesting mix." Intrigued by the slight amount of German interest his opponent showed. But the move that his opponent made threw him off slightly. All the way on the offensive, right off the bat, forcing him back a few steps. He recognized this attack as the starting move for the '3-Move Checkmate' or whatever it was called. Whichever case, it was his job to protect his soldiers as much as possible, and to protect himself... But the question was, how aggressive was this man? His opponent? Trade-for-trade? Or, did he value the life of every piece, to the point of stagnating his own moves? Whichever the case...
Taking this into a very realistic outlook, he moved his pawn from F7 to F6. Both making himself and his more important pieces vulnerable. Would anyone trust him that much, hold such ideals so similar to himself, that they'd be willing to take their own life and gamble it? The scenario would quickly drop into a lose-lose scenario... But so long as their goal was to prevent a lose-win scenario, then that was still a minor victory.
Dammit. He was still too new to this, and needed more tactical and strategical support. ---His eye lit up to his opponent, as he finished masturbating his pawn."Isn't corporal punishment strange? It vorks, but it leaves both physical und emotional scars... But ze end Machiavellian result iz zat it vorks, ja?"Moving both his hands back to their resting place, the grin dropping from his face, he moved the hair out of his face. Revealing the eye-patch with the Nazi-symbol. Where he'd lost his eye for putting his life on the line for a man he'd believed in... who'd gone and died on him."...But vat if ze system doesn't vork? Vat if... no one is stepping up to ze plate, and you're ze only one vith enough drive to do anyzing? Vat do you zink ze cost, ze sacrifice zat vould need to be done, to accomplish somezing like zat?"A bit chatty? He hated himself for it, but he loved to think. Philosophical? That lead to overly chatty people, but, again, he was still trying to get used to sharing his thoughts and ideas with others. To this end point... he hoped to make his opponent draw upon his pieces much as he would his own comrades. This was... both a manipulative way to possibly stagnate his own opponent (of course, this would pend on the man's levels of empathy), as well as...
A test.
Yes... that would be the best fit.
A test.

Gabriel's main focous was on the board he knew that if he was to make an impresion upon this guy it was to take him down in a power house victory, his opponent moved the pawn into a defensive position which mad his 3 move checkmate imposible, "Damm" Gabriel muttered inaudibly he was quickly trying to find the many altenates to his offensive moves, "gotta keep him on the defense so he wont see whats comming, leave him blind, keep that eye of his distracted" the voices told him, still deep in thought he heard hi opponent say "...But vat if ze system doesn't vork? Vat if... no one is stepping up to ze plate, and you're ze only one vith enough drive to do anyzing? Vat do you zink ze cost, ze sacrifice zat vould need to be done, to accomplish somezing like zat?" he didn't quite hear the first part but he already knew the answer he would put forward, "you do all that you can do, with whatever streangth you possess to make a change" Gabriel's gaze came up to match the nazi's he moved his hand to move his pawn to D4 keeping his eyes locked where they were "even if you have to make a few sacrifices" Gabriel played a game of intimidation it had worked well enough on most players though he had a strange feeling this one was different, something here had brought him to double think his move but it was too late all he could do is see his opponent's next move and push back on the offense yet again maybe he'd back down like the others had mabye Gabriel's mind was playing with him again?

Post by Delilah A. Black on May 12, 2008 11:11:11 GMT -8
A slight chuckle emanated from a person standing few paces to the left. "That's an illegal move, sweetie," If either were to look up, they'd see a pale-eyed Delilah standing nearby, pulling her raven coloured hair back into a pony tail as she watched. She was wearing her loose, grease and oil stained overalls, rubbing at her hands with an equally dirty rag. "If I were you, I'd move the King to F7, since pawns can't move diagonally or more than one pace after an initial move. But that's just me~." It was a risky move, but based on her assessment of the way the board was laid out, this was the only way to take out the bishop.
She turned her washed-too-many-times blue eyes to Unfettered and raised an eyebrow. "Long time no see, Mr. Winters. How's the resturant doing?" She asked as an aside, gauging his reaction carefully. She'd left the resturant just as abruptly as she'd left town, without a word to her location. "I haven't seen you this intense since our spar half a year ago."

Re-Acquainting With An Old... 'Comrade' From his point of view, "Unfettered" couldn't tell if his defensive stratagem was effective or not, not able to discern anything from his opponent's pokerface. 'Til his opponent moved about his piece, eyes to eye meeting with each other."you do all that you can do, with whatever streangth you possess to make a change" The pawn landed."even if you have to make a few sacrifices" Pawn for a pawn? Heh, in this current situation, he had to grin. On the defensive once again, but his eye moved with less hesitation. Both bishops, while powerful, were currently ineffective, both rooks were immobile, the Queen was a centerpiece for something with more meat-&-potato designs... and the knights... He mused for a moment. For a moment. Eye flicking back up to meet his opponent's just as quickly."...The needz of ze many outveigh ze needz of the few, eh? If zat's ze case, I agree and disagree, if zat makes sense." Promptly moving his pawn over to---
...? Laughter."That's an illegal move, sweetie,"Huh?...
"Unfettered" looked up, as if out from a trance. Ah, aye... he overshot his pawn placement by a bit, so intent on his next paragraph of philosophical banter. Grinning with an apologetic nod, he put his pawn back in its place.---Wait. What? Doing a double-take..---"If I were you, I'd move the King to F7, since pawns can't move diagonally or more than one pace after an initial move. But that's just me~.""Kek... I'm pretty zure zat is an illegal move too. Unless you want me to lose that badly... Mizz Black." Turning towards her, arms promptly at his knees, giving a subtle bow in her direction, before pivoting in his seat, back towards his opponent. "Pardon... an old employee of mine.""Long time no see, Mr. Winters. How's the resturant doing?"Pause. He kept his gaze focused on his opponent's... "Eh... vell... could be doing better."...His gaze must've been too strong, though, looking too intently at his opponent..."I haven't seen you this intense since our spar half a year ago.""..Vell, zis fellow is showing me quite ze time... and in turn, I'm eager to see the full extent of his... tactical und strategical train of thought." (OOC: Yes, I've repeated this far too many times. Apologies for repetition...) "..I've trust you got my text, however, Miss Black?---I must admit, I didn't recognize zat Mister... 'Chocorem's' girlfriend was you."His watchful eye was now straying back and forth between the two, as he moved his pawn from D7 to D6. A simple move... but this opened up a whole realm of possibilities.

"..I've trust you got my text, however, Miss Black?---I must admit, I didn't recognize zat Mister... 'Chocorem's' girlfriend was you." Unfettered said as he moved his pawn into place, Gabriel hardly noticed the newcommer till his opponent was already in a deep comversation with her. Gabriel took the most forward move without any serious reprocusions on the board moving his queen to H5 "Check!" he proclaimed as he eagerly looked up hoping to see his opponent baffled dumbfounded looking for a quick escape, then shifting his attention to the newcommer.
"It seems as though we have yet to be introduced, I'm Gabriel" he said as he reached for her hand

Strategy Reversal Mentality "Check!" Instead of surprised... there was a bit of concern on "Unfettered's" face. Easy to mistaken for disdain (although a glint of 'Wait, what?' did appear on his face... if only for a moment), but it might as well be the same thing. For a moment, he ignored the niceties between Delilah and---
...Aye. He caught onto one thing in the boy's conversation. A smile slid onto the German's face."..So... Gabriel, is it?" A grin. Before looking down again with the concerned look in his eye.
His defense was becoming strong. Too strong. In fact, every little provocation... Kind of like raids. As long as there were resources present to reinforce the defender, the defender would only grow stronger and potentially more lethal. Therein... Militia had to do more... 'underhanded' things. Aye... Attacking the Student Hierarchy outright would earn immediate disdain from the public... especially considering her personality, her principles, etcetera. Being the victim, in other words. Instead...
Propaganda.
Split the school into factions.
And with that, he moved his pawn from G7 to G6... blocking the Queen. As well as the bishop. Meaning either this would result in an attack, or would force the attack to fall down. Or perhaps... his opponent would surprise him with something the German loved the most: The unorthodox."Your move... Gabriel."...As a note... it would probably already become apparent to the Frenchmen that his opponent had not offered up his own name. But under the scrutinizing eye of the German, perhaps there was a reason?
Beneath the table, the German's hands waited, silently on his lap... ticking about in odd finger movements. Pondering, trying to discern his opponent's motive, action, and reaction from his face... as well as the moves he made."I have to zank you... I zink you just helped me figure out zomething very important in regardz to zis school.~"Chess Plays:White | Black | e4 | e5 | Bc4 | f6 | d4 | d6 | Qh5 | g6 |

"Your move... Gabriel." his opponent muttered to him, Gabriel glared across the board only brief enough to send a message, he quickly looked down to scan the board over once, twice, a third, his mind danced with the thoughts of the many different scenarios as he tried to realize the best move while retaining to keep his opponent on the defensive till he could release his other support troops to the field, however his Queen was in danger seeing as in most games to be the most useful piece on the board and not being at the liberty to sacrifice such a useful unit at this point he played out the possibilities in his head.
"I have to zank you... I zink you just helped me figure out zomething very important in regardz to zis school.~" the man across the table said again,
"yea? what would that be?" Gabriel replied still predominantly focused on the board.
not wanting to be pushed back into a corner just yet Gabriel moved his Queen to H4 hoping it still posed some threatening aura rather than being completely reconciled.
