Theme of the shadowsOrion sat under a street-light, hood up, observing people as they go by. Next to him was a man reading a newspaper, oblivious to his presence. In fact, all of them were; he was utilizing the power of his new vest to hide in the shadow cast by a paper that was on the light, blocking out part of it. That part, coincidentally, fell upon where Orion was, so he sat there in the shadow, and nobody saw him. Interesting trick.. though he doubted that it would work on anyone more perceptive. The man next to him grunted, rolling up his newspaper and standing, walking away. The park was beginning to empty. It is late at night, after all. Orion remained, though, as this late was one of the few times he could get some solitude and quiet. A slight breeze kicked up, sending the paper away fluttering away, revealing Orion as the shadow was now gone. He sighed. "So much for solitude... I know someone's there, so you may as well show yourself."This being said while Orion grabbed a tall object wrapped in cloth that was leaning against the bench next to him. How did he know he wasn't alone? Because he never was alone late at night in parks, there was always someone else these. Just because he couldn't see them didn't mean they weren't there.

Orion had been a curiosity ever since he had joined the sparring fray of Dragons and Crows alike. With Mathew within the boundaries of Mount Olympus with Bastille, Kyrie had taken things such as scouting and other methods of physical exertion as ways to grow. Her path towards becoming a Named Dragon would continue.
For now, she pushed and prepared herself to be able to resume training stronger than when Mathew left her. Part of that involved becoming aware me knowledgeable of the people and occurrences that were in this area of California. Their strengths. Their weaknesses. Habits. She needed to use the skills she had developed and continue to hone them even as she worked vigorously upon her weaknesses.
So she was using Orion as a target. She had tailed him for some time already, carefully and quietly watching. The park excursion he took was interesting, to say the least. And the trick with the shadow moreso.
When he called any observers out, it became a debate over whether she should reveal herself or not. She had bluffed her way out of situations by calling out before--at worst, she would have only looked to be unstable by talking to nobody in the area. Paranoia and vigilance had saved her life before. There was no absolute guarantee that he was talking to her, or even that he knew she was there.
It was a long stretch of silence that greeted Orion.
Long enough to make a person feel silly for thinking to call out at all; certainly long enough to make it seem like he was all alone after all.
It was about that time that a slender hand appeared and firmly coiled its fingers around his wrist, with the rest of the petite blonde materializing amongst wisps of trailing shadows--long blonde curls settled and tumbled down her back with the shadows seeming to caress the strands before dissipating completely. Blue eyes were focused on him with only the barest hint - hardly there at all - of being steeled. Wide-eyed. Innocent. But undeniably observant.
Kyrie said nothing, simply waiting for whatever actions he would take.

No answer. For quite some time. Orion raised a single eyebrow ever so slightly. Was he actually alone, and get some peace and quiet? For once? As this thought ran through his mind, he felt his wrist get grabbed forcefully by someone, though he felt he could break it out. He watched with mild interest as someone materialized out of shadows, starting from the hand and then slowly unraveling into a small little girl looking like figure. He wouldn't underestimate her: his memory of Sirynn was quite acute. Still, a vocal analyzation was always useful for disturbing someone. Or, perhaps, get a conversation out of her, judging by her look and what he has already deduced.
"Hmmm.... your familiar... ah. Now I remember; back at the eight-way brawl. You were off to the side-lines... the shadow-girl, easy enough to remember, though I never got a name to match the face. A dragon, I would guess, judging by that little trick of yours that is more than likely QI based, and that it's elemental, which is more the style of the Dragons. You look like a normal enough human, obviously, which rules out the people I work with or Barker, and the Crows are trained in stealth without the use of QI.
"Judging by the look in your eyes, your ability, and you staying to the side-lines, your more of a scout-type, an analyzer, someone who thinks before they do something, which is refreshing. What with people like Leon or Marcus or Jack who I swear are berserkers at heart, it's nice to see someone who thinks through their actions. I would say it's either personal preference or a choice due to the strength I feel in your grip, unless your holding back."
He tilted his head to the side at the girl.
"I'm judging by the strength of your grip instead of your size because last time I judged someone by their size who looked like you, she threw a car at me. And knocked down a tree. Moderately unpleasant... But where are my manners? My name is Orion, Orion Smith."
He cast his eyes lazily towards the hand that held his wrist.
"And I would appreciate you letting me go. I am not entirely comfortable with people gripping my body for too terribly long, or at all, for that matter, unless it's a romantic gesture or something, which is obviously not the case here, unless your one of those love at first sight types, which, by your eyes, you are most definitely not."

So this mild bout of surprise - whether it was offense or not, didn't matter - must have been what others experienced when she analyzed them. Or at least, when she let them know what she had gleaned from them. Kiyr remained quiet and still through Orion's words, though it was clear she was listening. If she agreed or disagreed, or found some parts accurate or amusing, she gave no real sign.
In fact, the whole spiel that Orion gave her earned him a very slow, owlish blink...yet no verbal response.
The firm - but not forceful - grip on his wrist lessened, and Kiyr dissipated back into the shadow of the object, the bench, and Orion himself, appearing again as she stood from her formerly crouched position at the tip of Orion's shadow. She had bypassed attempting to get up in such close proximity to what she believed to be a weapon, thereby showing a certain lack of trust for him, but no malicious intent as she stepped away. Two paces backwards to gain a comfortable distance. Though she had her special shoes on, and even though Orion could hear her despite that, she still made very little sound, almost none at all.
"Kiyr."
It wasn't a hesitant response. It was clear, though quiet, and it was delivered with another slow blink.

"Kiyr."
Huh. Unique name. Then again, he was named after a star constellation, he wasn't one to talk. He also noticed that she was very quiet, impossibly so. Not a part of her QI... an item perhaps? Similar to how his staff gave him more of an air of authority? That would make sense. Speaking of, she deliberately avoided his halberd, which was fine; he would feel uncomfortable around someone else's weapon.
"I am a bit curious as to why I'm being followed. I doubt it's on orders; aside from Barker, the numerous factions tend to let me wander wherever I choose with no interference. Personal curiosity? Though why someone would be interested in me over say an Elder Dragon or one of the top Crows is beyond me."

Kiyr inclined her head a little, keeping her responses succinct and to the point.
"Personal curiosity."
And nothing more to them than the bare minimum he needed to know. She could have simply not answered, but that was rude. And yet, she still did not wish to give more than just that much away.

Orion shrugged at her answer. He himself only gave out a bit of information in his responses. If you actually looked, his rambling actually told very little, about as much as her single or two word answers.
"Fair enough, I have no reason to stop. Or the ability at the moment, but that is beyond the point. If you plan on following me farther, I'd advise against it. I'm going to go test out this jacket and my skills against Barker's patrols in the middle of his territory. Your welcome to come along, if you like. A bit of company doesn't hurt, especially if they're good at stealth."
She obviously wasn't going to answer anything he asked with that much information, so he figured he may as well just go about business as usual, and go see how deep into Barker's territory he could get with his newfound vest.

Tucking his words away, Kyrie quietly considered. A jaunt in Barker Territory? Testing out his new jacket? Interesting.
"I may follow as long as it suits me." She confirmed with a slight nod. He was obviously intending on going alone as it was, and thus he should be confident enough to handle it on his own.
Whether he was strong enough was a different matter. And she didn't want to walk into a trap--by his hand or any other observer's.
