Delilah growled in frustration at the ear piece in her neck as "Green" told her to hold position. The retreating backs of the soldiers, however, she knew this could very well be a front. She was all too aware of the kinds of monstrosities Barker held in his employ. There was no room for error.
"HOLD THE LINE!" she shouted to those around her, should any of the other Crows foolishly try to pursue. She cast a worried glance at Stu before facing resolutely forward again.
Suddenly, screaming, the clamour of battle could be heard from on the other side of the toppled buildings. The wreckage prevented her from seeing, but she heard and it made her eyes widen in shock and horror. And then, silence.
"W..what the hell...." she hissed under her breath, gripping her knives tightly. A new enemy? A surprise attack? But from who? And WHY.
If only she could know...
BANG
Delilah dropped reflexively at the sound of...a gunshot? What the blue fuck? Weren't guns rendered totally ineffective?
That didn't really matter at the moment though, as before Delilah's eyes, one of the retreating vanguard fell, as if in slow motion. Her blue eyes widened as the one who fell was recognized in her mind, though half his brains were blown out the back of his head.
Her heart stopped.
Her breath caught.
Her mind reeled.
A hollow, sinking feeling formed in her stomach.
Kiyoshi fell.
"KIYOSHIIII!!"
She made to run forward to his body, desperate to check for signs of life, for anything there. If someone didn't snatch her back, she kneel at his side, feeling for the signs of life she knew would never come back. Gone. Gone. He was gone. Another Zero --a friend...was gone.
If she was held back, she would scrabble with whomever it was to try and get free to go to his side. Unless she was reasoned with, she wouldn't stop until she could do so, and she would stand there, helpless. Shaking as anger began to overwhelm her.
She hadn't been there to help "Unfettered".
She could do nothing for Areon.
And now, Kiyoshi lay dead on the battlefield.
Failure.
Failed.
Again.
OOC; i refrained from posting about Kiyoshi this turn because...well I wasnt sure if i should. This post may be edited for more clarity.
EDITED.
Stu's own earpiece hissed with his orders to hold back, and let them retreat. That was that, then. He didn't wait for an order to stand down, just merely slid his katana int it's sheath, pat his aide on the back, and saunter towards the rear lines.
This battle was over.
That was, well, incorrect. He heard the screams and turned, only a few ranks back. He dashed forwards, propelling himself forward with hands placed on shoulders, cutting a direct line through the men of his unit. Just as he reached the front, the impossible.
BAAANG
He hit the deck instinctively, but almost immediately caught himself before he got to one knee. A gun? Now? He hadn't seen a gun in... god, almost half a decade. It had been his gun that had committed so many atrocities in his past life, though it had saved just as many lives as it had hurt. He had left that with John, and now it was the sword that graced his back.
Jesus the sound hurt his ears. Even after the building collapse and the din of battle, such a sharp, resolute sound still hit the eardrums just perfect enough to cause some discomfort.
"KIYOSHI!"
Shit. That was Del. And she's gonna run straight out into sniper fire. His body began moving on it's own volition even as these thoughts were forming, running directly towards her almost a second after Kiyoshi had been hit. He didn't know it was Kiyoshi, but why else would she scream his name?
He hit her just as she began running, and it took all of his strength to stop her. He thanked whatever god there was that her emotions seemed to override her sense of strength or agility, or worse yet, her instinct to attack anything that got close to her. He pulled her back behind her line of men, who snapped into rank around them.
And there he held her, even as the sobs would come. They were close. He didn't know how close and he didn't care. But he knew that Kiyoshi mattered to her, and that was all that mattered to Stu. With strong arms he held her tight, reassuring.
He said nothing. Nothing he said would matter.

{OOC} Just Because. {OOC}
Marcus was giving his troops a much needed pep talk when the call came in. This kind of fighting wasn't exactly what he wanted to train them for, but if it was one thing he always advocated was always being prepared for any situation. This was good learning experiance for them, knowing what it was like on the front line.
Like Delilah, Marcus heard the chilling screams as he casted a worried look in the direction they were comming from, only to push it away from his mind as he realized it was comming from the enemies side. probably another clever trap worked up by The Raven Haired First.
"MOUNT UP WOLVES! WE'RE BACK ON THE CLOCK! BREAK TIME'S OVER!"
And so they did, and so they rode with Marcus leading the pack. His mission was clear. Relieve Zero Akechi and the Vanguard and hold real estate down. Nothing his wolves couldn't handle. Closing in on the Vanguards, Marcus picked Kiyoshi out from the group, parked Lady behind the line and approached the man as the rest of the Wolves began to disembark Silks Truck.
"Zero Akechi." Marcus would call out as he closed in on the Crow Zero. "Marcus Prasad of the Wolfpack here to relie-"
That was about the point where his entire world went inside out as he was rocked back from something wet and chunky splashing over his face and chest. Shocked and Confused, Marcus brought a hand up to wipe his face, his eyes going wide with horror as he saw that his entire hand was soaked in blood and chunks of meat. Looking down on the ground, it became all too apparent that the blood belonged to the Zero and that the meat was the poor man's grey matter.
The revelation struck Marcus so hard that for a while he just stood there, face caked in gore as the Rest of the Wolfpack jumped into action with Fox barking orders as Doc checked the downed Zero's pulse, only to shake his head and close the man's lifeless eyes. Unable to do anything else, Fox would attempt to rouse the Vanguard to gather Kiyoshi's body up and take him behind the Crow lines and out of sight of the rest of the main force.
"DOC! HE'S BLEEDING! GET THE FUCK HERE NOW!" Silk would scream after reaching Marcus. It was after she had given Marcus a few slaps to the face in the hopes of shaking him awake that she noticed not all the blood was the Zero's. As Doc looked him over, he found that a fragment of Kiyoshi's skull had lodged itself just under his right cheekbone.

Shot Heard Round The War High up, easily three-thousand feet away, on the ruins of a destroyed building in the far North-East... two men were seen, prone. Smoke continued to hiss out of long barrel of the .50 calibur rifle, the inside of the magazine wheezing as the rest of the bullets in the clip wheezed, their usefulness dying. The rifle was unceremoniously dropped to the side and stripped of its scope. The man peered out from under his scraggly white hair, peering emotionlessly from over the scope. He wore a thick collar with a metal link embedded in it, and a light navy-blue vest over a one-armed, long-sleeved, brown shirt that complimented with his army pants.
His compatriot next to him was a short-haired red-head with a maroon, turtleneck t-shirt and black pants. Both of them wore steel-toed, military combat boots. However, only the white-haired man wore strange grip-gloves, fingerless on the thumb and forefingers only. The man with red hair, also prone, put down his binoculars and reached to the side of his pants, pulling a walkie-talkie off the side of his hip. He crackled it to life. He looked over once to his compatriot who silently gave him a thumbs up as he peered through his scope with his other hand.*"This is 'Solo-Wing' to Commander. Kill confirmed, Kiyoshi Akechi, el 'Zero' of 'Crows' es KIA."**"...No, you didn't pay us nearly enough for un segundo disparo. At least six-thousand pounds more of supplies would be needed."**"That's what I thought. Encontrar un useable gun is rare, y that was our last rifle. Well, good working con you. Hopefully we can work out something in the futuro."**"...Or maybe we'll see you on the other side. Hehehe."**"Oh, no. Don't worry. We'll be in contact. With everyone."**"Hehehehehehe..."**"Spanish Enforcers, out."*The man looked over to his white-haired compatriot, giving him a shit-eating grin... but the man would only continue to look forward, on the scope, still emotionless."Man, four-thousand pounds... that's a lot of food, huh, Demon Lord? Hehe..."The Demon Lord did not move."Hey buddy, still alive?"Abruptly, the white-haired man stood up, assembling his things. He began to walk on down, disappearing into the shadows, as Solo-Wing, only just realizing what was happening, pushed himself up and began trailing after his commander."Hey! HEY! WAIT! ESPERE!"* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Annihlate * * * * * * * * * * * * * Underneath the ground, "Teal" stared up, blankly... when he noticed... dust? Cracking cement? Suddenly alarmed, the German looked up, patting the shoulders of Vespyr and Vincent to move, in case of a collapse...*"Shit... whatever das hell zat ist, it ist heavy..."**"Roger---FUCK."*...Suddenly, the radio was filled with chaos. "Teal" looked at the rearguard... face twisted in a half-smile, as he waited for the radio to filter down to---* * * * * * * * * * * * * "I cannot. Darc said.. I don't have to hold back.... Against you." ...Filtering in perfectly to the radio. The long-haired German grinned, accepting. This fight wasn't personal... but the both of them had to work to kill each other, now.---*"Shit... whatever das hell zat ist, it ist heavy..."**"Roger---"**BANG* *""---FUCK."*---The German froze. He waited a second to realize that... he wasn't bleeding out, his eye-sight wasn't rapidly deteriorating...*"This is 'Green'"**"We need the medical team on Kiyoshi. NOW."*---'Shit.'
But the German did not move. To be distracted in this instant would be to possibly die against the unknown strength of this man. And as the man stopped circling around him, the German too held his position, his arms going at his sides...
---READYING his action to push his sword off its hilt from against his right hip, twist the blade at a ninety-degree angle, a foot-up from his head... and stabbing his sword forward to the man's mouth and downward... The moment that the creature went into a striking distance of four feet.
'No time.' Edit: Wrong accents, wrong font colors fixed.

A Liability
Ari flinched, violently, as the tunnel began to shake and crack. The teen’s wide blue eyes, already strained from the fatigue of being forced to use his Qi, flew up to the ceiling for a moment and then darted over to Vespyr with silent panic.
The woman had already risen to her feet and pulled Vincent up with her by his shoulder; she held on to him tightly as she was not entirely sure she could trust him to stay put. Her stern, scrutinizing eyes panned along the curved concrete roof above them, narrowed through the dust and flakes of stone that spewed from the cracks. Several feet away, a small chunk of concrete fell with a splash and revealed a peek of the steel rebar that ran bone-like through the inner structure of the tunnel.
”It’s reinforced. It won’t fall.” Vespyr said, turning to Teal. ”Everyone will hold their positions.”
Her commanding stare flicked past him to the Rogues that were looking to her expectantly. Leech’s hot red eyes glared back at her through the darkness. The man’s gritted teeth parted to silently mouth the words ’you’re fuckin insane’ to her before turning his stare back to the ceiling, watchful. There could be no feeling of impending doom more literal than the feeling of waiting to be buried alive beneath ten tons of dirt and concrete and steel.
Just then, the crack of a gunshot ricocheted through the streets, muffled but unmistakable to the crew underground. Everyone froze except for Vincent. Having only heard the gunshot and the German’s exclamation of “FUCK” from aboveground, he shoved away from Vespyr’s grip on his shoulder and darted toward the rusted ladder protruding from the concrete wall. Not even a half-second later, he felt himself falling backward, wrenched away from the wall by his sister who’d wrapped one arm around his waist and the other around his neck with her hand clasped over his mouth. The writhing twins landed with a subdued splash on the floor of the tunnel, but in moments, Vespyr had Vincent’s arms pressed firmly against his sides, immovable. He breathed furiously through her cold fingers.
From where she hunched with the struggling man in her arms, Vespyr whipped her head around and threw Teal a wide-eyed, questioning stare. Was that a fucking gun?

Its true that the weight was not enough to destroy the tunnel and cause it to callapse, so they where safe for now. "Unfettered" however was correct, if he had hesitated at that moment the man would have struck.
As he struck however the man turned and tilted with the stabbing motion, bringing an arm around in a wide arc in a clobbering motion. Aimed for the left side of his face.

Before she could clear the line, she felt strong, familiar hands pull her back, behind men, warm, alarmed bodies, panicking around her.
As warm arms began to enclose her, part of the First forced it's way through the grief, the pain of failure, the loss. Her voice was powerful, strong in her anger--and cracking around the edges, broken by acute sorrow. "HOLD! MAINTAIN POSITIONS! WE'RE NOT OUT OF THIS YET! TALON--"
It was a good thing Talon knew what she was going to say before she was eclipsed by Stu, had heard "Green"'s orders just moments before. He went to attend to the downed Zero, already knowing the outcome by the blood and brain that spattered the cracked asphalt. But still, he had to try. He was a Zero, the Kiyoshi Akechi that unified the Crows and banded the organization together.
One measly bullet wouldn't kill him. There was no way. No way.
Delilah pushed and pulled at Stu, trying to get away, to the body of Kiyoshi as if there were still something that she could do to save him. Choked sobs passed over her lips, but there were no tears; only a numb feeling of disbelief. The struggling would continue only for another admirable few seconds before he was able to enfold her completely, pinning her arms by her sides to prevent her from fighting him. If it had been anyone else, they would have been stabbed through the guts about forty million times by now...but this was Stu. He had special considerations.
She pressed her face into his shoulder, shaking, heaving dry, slightly hysterical sobs. It was a momentary bliss; she knew what was going to come next. Even now, the occasional choked cry had with it the beginning of an angry roar.
What a surprise~. I told you your path wouldn't be enough.
Silently, slowly and with building momentum, rage began to consume her...

Doc took Marcus face in his hands and titled the shell shocked mans face this way and that carefully to get a better look at the wound before checking his eyes with a penlight. What he saw made him curse.
"Merde. FOX! You're Up! Fenris is going to be out of action for awhile!" With gusto Fox would begin directing traffic, having been groomed by Marcus to be his second in command of the Wolfpack if in the unlikely even of him ever being taken out.
Digging through his medic kit, Doc began to fuss over Marcus' face, trying to clean the wound area as best as he could before preparing to dig in with a pair of tweezers when suddenly he heard a quiet sound.
".....Doc."
It was comming from Marcus! The man was fighting hard to pull himself back up from the abyss he found himself in, all stimulous feeling distant and detatched as if he was watching everying from a tv from far away. But Doc could see it in his Alpha's eyes. He was trying to fight back up.
"Easy now Sir, easy now. I can't have you wiggling around. Silk, if you could please help me hold the man still....." Tweezers in hand, The man held Marcus' face steady as he slipped the tines into Marcus' open wound, parting the flaps of raw flesh as he dug to retrieve the bone fragment.
And throughout the entire thing, the Wolves were Resolved to hold the line. Shaken, but resolved. Barker would find no weak link here.

And with that a supplementary force of only 25 Barker Soldiers would appear on the opposite end of the field simply watching from slight cover, and waiting.

The months had progressed on ad-infinitum, with and without the German, as he sometimes seemingly peered down from that ivory tower that he sometimes appeared untouchable at. What was gray and what was teal had begun to blend together, with “Teal’s” return. Wild, unsavory things had begun to re-occur, almost immediately.
Good things had happened.
Amazing things had happened.
…Necessary things occurred.
And of course… unnecessary things as well.
“Unfettered” stirred, seated at his desk, for the first time in a long while. He looked up at his typewriter, the untouched paper scrolled through, headed and titled, squared in the middle of his desk. Standing over his left shoulder was, of course“Teal” who was standing with a cane, peering over the German’s work with a scrutinizing eye, standing over his left shoulder at the untouched ink. Since his kin’s return, during his absence… some would note how some of the edge of the once infinite scowl the German seemed to have lessened in exchange of a more unnerving level of command that he exuded, akin to “Unfettered’s.””Are ve going to just shtay here, staring at das damned thing?” came out a very deep and gravelly from his throat, not too unlike that of a cranking a rusty wheel, as he spouted smoke into the room. Apparently, a new vice he had picked up, ever since the German’s initial reveal and return to Crows.
Here, the German’s musings came to an end. They had both promised to work on a summary of things, for themselves and for the public eye.”…Nein. No. Let’s begin.”
Resolving: War Drums The battle, henceforth recalled to as “The Battle of the March of the War Drums” or “War Drums” just for short had been primarily a major victory for the Crows, while simultaneously resulting in two major losses for the Crows. First and foremost, of course, was the death of Kiyoshi Akechi. He was taken out so swiftly and quickly, just moments before what otherwise appearing to be a total victory over the invading forces of Barker. Strategic arrangements, fire, everything was working with them. “…Ich thought Ich understood das rules.”Guns, which had their gunpowder rendered useless in their current environment… whether it be for reasons of Barker or due to the drastic change in the environment due to the missiles falling… were destroyed, throwing the entirety of warfare back to the medieval ages. Yet Kiyoshi Akechi was killed by a gunshot. Only after further conferring with “Unfettered” upon his awakening was it confirmed that gunpowder not yet exposed to the compounds in the air could still manage a single shot. Which brought the second point of “Unfettered,” who had delegated his orders to be issued through his Militia unit. The remaining Zero, in the midst of one-on-one combat with a skilled opponent, created by Barker by the name of Tristan, continued to circle about his foe, until finally Tristan charged at him. “Unfettered’s” foe was a gargantuan beast of man, thralled to one of the leaders from within Barker’s hierarchy by the name of “Darc.” Were it not for the injection of the Black Canister that the German injected himself, he would not have even been able to perceive this Tristan’s movements as the large fellow suddenly charged at him, aiming for his face. What happened then and the order they occurred then became unclear. Overriding orders were being issued from what was once thought an MIA “Teal” from an unknown location to Militia. *"Zis ist 'Teal,' reporting in to Militia. Access code: Vererbung Teal, Activating das Preservation Plan,"* crackled the voice over the radio. Back over in "Unfettered's" vanguard unit, "Green" was startled, evident by the cracking of his voice to all the units. *"TEAL!?---Ohumsorry---A-Acknowledged! However, this requires the First Crow's permission."*The radio went dead for a moment, before crackling to life again. The voice was... familiar. Harsh. And aimed directly at Delilah. *"First Crow, Sniper Militia Delilah Black. Zis ist 'Teal.' Du outrank me so Ich require your permission to carry out 'Unfettered's' plan."* his voice... impatient... demanding...--- 'It's been a while. How have you been?'
Delilah froze, the shaking abruptly stopping as a voice crackled over her radio. Slowly, eyes wide, she backed away from the Brit, waving a hand to indicate she was okay, really. Her heart had started it's normal rhythms again. Calm seemed to enevlope her as she lifted a hand to her ear slowly. "...'Teal'?"*"First Crow, Sniper Militia Delilah Black. Zis ist 'Teal.' Du outrank me so Ich require your permission to carry out 'Unfettered's' plan."*A spear of sudden shock and relief spread through the center of her brain and trickled down through the rest of her body. It was him.
"...May I know what the plan is?" *"Switch to frequency 113.13."* the man snapped. In the darkness of the area, he pointed to his cohorts, to prepare themselves to push up the manhole door as the heavy stomping continued overhead. Time was a factor here. Unbidden, a smile came to her lips at the tone in his voice. Ah, 'Teal'.
"Attention all Tengu, going silent. Refer to Militia's instruction as needed. You will be contacted when I am available again. Over and out."
She pulled the piece out of her ear, tapped in the new frequency and replaced it.
"Teal." she greeted in a far calmer voice than she felt.
There was no time for pleasantries. Even as one of Vespyr's Rogues moved into position, he snarled at Delilah, risking a loss to the secrecy of his position. She needed to understand the urgency. Everything was a formality before this. *"Crows ist about to lose all of its Zeros, Delilah Black, leaving you in charge. Leaving me to be vith du every step of das vay for the next thirty days."* he spat. *"'Unfettered' has taken a black canister. He will not have long until he falls unconcious. Now, give me permission to help me help him help you."*A little rushed, with the German accent heavy... but essentially saying he would be the voice of "Unfettered" for the next thirty days, while Crows would adjust to its new leadership situation. He looked up impatiently, ready to emerge from the manhole, pulling out a bottle with a rag sticking out of it that reeked of alcohol. Slowly, the smile drifted and fell from the First Crow's face at the gravity of the words. Over her shoulder, she knew where the...body of Kiyoshi Akechi was being taken.
...Kiyoshi was one thing. 'Unfettered' quite another.
"...For someone who's supposed to be dead, you sure have a lot of information."
She spoke as she left the front, pulling into an alley for a little more privacy. 'Unfettered' had taken a black canister...? What on earth was he thinking?
"Permission granted." *"Gut. Switching back to das main line,"* he muttered, without so much as a further goodbye or words of comfort. How could Delilah know that he was in a rush to save their dear "Unfettered's" ass?
Summary Bulletpoints The following is what occurred chronologically, after the last point.- “Teal” unceremoniously dumps “Unfettered’s” ass down the sewer, much to the horror of Militia, where he is caught and safely rescued by Rogues (still unknown).
- On a private line, “Teal” denotes “Unfettered’s” disappearance to “being left to the special forces/allies,” though he will not comment further on it. Militia is informed privately of one of “Unfettered’s” projections, (Project Scoundrel) is noted, relaying one of the possibilities that “Unfettered” had mapped out to Militia having occurred. While they do not necessarily relax at this new info, they keep themselves to silence.
- The Rogues make their escape without further revealing anything of themselves, after a few private words between the commanders. The Barker forces slaughtered are summed up to have destroyed themselves during their escape.
- Through Delilah, “Teal” issues further orders, as with permission granted, to formalize the securing of Crow’s victory retreat back to the Crow’s Nest.
- All unnecessary forces are allowed to return back to their respective guard positions.
- The Crows heads (Delilah, “Teal,” Marcus, Stu) meet to establish what is to happen then.
- The reinforcements provided by Marcus Prasad is noted. Honorary title, “Protector of the East” is designated to him for him and his troop’s valor in finalizing the Crow’s victory.
- Delilah is formally designated as the head of Crows, as per “Unfettered’s” back-up plans in light of all Zero’s being killed or incapacitated. However, due to her mobility, “Teal” offers, as requested by “Unfettered,” to stay in the Crow’s Nest as its commanding “officer” (though no title is officially assigned)---provided that Delilah agrees to this.
- Stu Pott is designated as an officer to be delegated a position under Delilah’s instruction.
- Lucien is mentioned to be a potential officer for Crows, a.k.a. a Crow of particular potential.
- The task is charged that the populace under protection of Crows be informed of this (perhaps temporary) change of leadership. While the return of “Unfettered” is guessed to be high by the inner circle, this is not mentioned when publically stated. Delilah, Marcus, Stu, and “Teal” all bring with them two people from their respective groups (Tengu, Wolf, Militia, etc) to represent their positions of influence.
- During this announcement, the mentioning of “Unfettered’s” incapacitation is noted, with Delilah to replace him until further notice. The death of Kiyoshi Akechi, is noted… a public ceremony for his funeral is stated to occur around a week or so.
- Marcus is requested to stay in the Crow’s Nest until the funeral is finalized for logistics and communication purposes. The public stated reason is for establishing precedent of honorable formality for the fallen Zero.
- …”Teal” begins his work…
"Sort of gets sloppy at the end, aren't we?"A German was grinning. He looked up at his compatriot."Hope du don't mind."If nothing else, the lack of formatting was bound to trigger that assole's OCD. But trying to recollect all this information now, a few months after a "break"... even the frowning German had to concede that this would do.
The document was then gingerly slipped into a black briefcase, along with a few other notes atop many others accumulated over the past years... and was sealed with familiar twin clicks.
