Good thing curiosity didn't always kill the cat. Eve returns to her focus on the energy surrounding Mathew and the earth after making a momentary face of discontent. Basics it was.
"Mmmm..." She took her time, feeling some of what she expected around clusters of nutrients, but there were other things, too.
"There are little pockets, too. Not super close to you. It might be things like the earthquakes you mentioned, just not since we've been here." Another pause. "Some of it's not really even pulling towards you. The energy further down has its own direction."

It made sense. Like he said, the earth was everywhere around them. She returned to the glow of energy, considering it a moment and how only so much was being pulled towards him.
She just kind of focuses and considers this for a bit.
“It’s more active further down.” Yay geology! As solid and unmoving as she always felt the earth must feel like it most people, it was odd to feel the t skirt for herself.

She closed her eyes again, blocking out the visual distractions as she focuses on the ground beneath her. The steady pulsing as she felt the energy flow away from her father rather than pull towards him. She was used to tapping into the free flow and then shaping it; this already had a given from. She tried to pull it in towards her and felt nothing. Drawing it in and nothing. It felt like trying to move a mountain.
The frustration showed on her face as she tried again, forcing herself to take another deep breath. The energy felt like dirt falling between her fingers as she reached for it.

Another deep breathe as she stayed closer to the surface, listening. Feeling the difference between the energy outside of her own, how it felt and flowed. For a few moments, that’s all there was before she’d try again, slowly pulling it in, losing her grasp a couple of times like picking a wire through jelly.

Her lips twisted for a moment before the expression disappeared, mustering her determination as she reached out and pulled, trying to pull the energy into her feeling it flow up towards her. It felt like she’d been straining for hours, regardless how long it actually took, when she finally felt it finally flow up into her. Little traces, but something that felt different from her own. The sensation made her pause, losing her grasp on it for a moment before she tried to pull it back in before she could lose it completely.
