The Crow Fell at Midnight (Open for up to 3)

[Lucifer]

Kristen Nevar was a part of the Crows Political Party, an outspoken activist on the rights and fair treatment of Qi beasts.  Both in and out of captivity.  Her policies and politics received criticism from other outspoken representatives both within 259's own political body and those of it's protectorates.  When she failed to show up to all of her meetings for the day someone was dispatched to check on her at her apartment where she was found dead.  The cause of death seemed to be poisoning from a Qi beast that was found inside of the apartment.  The Qi beast was killed when it tried to attack the soldier sent to check up on her.  As it was now, a report has been filed with Cabal who has dispatched agents to investigate the scene! 

[Xapham]

"Ah, hell. What now..."

[Cain Rhamos]

Cain shows up to the scene.

Then regrets it immediately, because it isn't the straightforward fight he thought it'd be.

"....fuck."

He stands there, hands on his hips.

[Cara Dunn]

Cara arrives on the scene! She stops as she joins the others, taken in the scene and shaking her head.

"Hope there aren't any more surprise critters."

[Lucifer]

The representative that was there to assist the Cabal investigators was from God Territory.  Gemini looked like they wanted to be anywhere but here.  However, this was their assignment until Cabal showed up.

"Cadets?"

Gemini sighed.

"Look for yourself.  Crow ended up dead.  Killed by one of her own beasts by the look of it.  No sign of forced entry, looks like she was dead for some time before I arrived at the scene.  Snake tried to take a bite out of me so I cut off it's head.  Seems pretty cut and dry to me." 

[Xapham]

"I'm a new instructor. No cadet. But I've some experience with Qi beasts."

He would say as he went to investigate the Qi beast. See if there was anything that just stick out as strange...

[Cara Dunn]

"That's us."  Cara nodded at the person asking for their identity, listening to the explanation as she looked around the room. It was possible that the serpent had bitten the woman, but why? Stress? A poor reaction? A threat?

"Maybe..." She went over to take a look at the remains of the snake. "What was it doing when you came in, before it attacked you?"

[Cain Rhamos]

Cain actually smiles a little at seeing something of home, here.

He looks around a bit, then shrugs.

"Was that snake hers?"

[Lucifer]

"My mistake then."

But Gemini didn't seem to be terribly bothered by mistaking him for a cadet as well. Gemini's eyes shifted over to Cain, shrugging at his question.

"Probably. There was no sign of forced entry and she is one of those bleeding-heart types about Qi beasts. Wouldn't surprise me to learn she keeps one as a pet."

Gemini obviously wasn't too fussed about her death.

"I don't know what it was doing, I heard it hiss and it lunged at me, so I ended it."

Cara would note from examining the snake that it was not defanged and there was no sign that it's poison glands had been removed. So the presumed cause of death was likely accurate.

Xapham would be able to identify the snake as a frilled rust back.  A very rare and highly venomous snake found only in the deserts around Dragonhearth. 

[Cain Rhamos]

Cain looks specifically for any setup that suggests she owned said Qi beast!

[Cara Dunn]

"Some people keep them as companions." Cara preferred to think of qi beasts as pets; they were smarter than that, had thoughts they could share with you, as she knew now. But with no way of knowing what it was doing, she asssumed it had been resting and attacked a moving threat.

"Well, it's not defanged, and the glands are there. It could have bitten her on its own if it wasn't handled right." She would take a step back and go to examine the apartment for signs of a cage, feed, live creatures like mice, or anything similar.

"If it was kept as a pet, there should be signs of supplies or food for it."

[Xapham]

Xapham would sigh. The Greek Pantheon was full of assholes like this one. He already regretted this assignment. After examining the snake he would walk over and investigate the body, attempting to deduce the cause of death.

"This is a rare and very deadly type of snake. One that would be unlikely kept as a pet."

[Lucifer]

Both Cara and Cain find nothing that indicated she had any pets. No rodents or cages. Cain is able to find some snake droppings, but they are fresh.

Cara finds a single pearl under the bed.

The body was cold and stiff. He found some bite marks on the back of her leg that would line up with the snake's fangs along with black veins moving away from the wound. On her body, he wouldn't find much of note except that she was in pajamas but not in bed. Meaning it was likely that she was killed sometime the night before or early this morning.

[Cara Dunn]

"There's nothing here that shows it's a pet." Cara stopped, frowning at the strange gleam before carefully reaching for and retrieving the pearl.

"That's odd." She looked at Gemini and held the pearl up for them to see along with her comrades.

"Look familiar?"  It wasn't something she'd seen before, and if it fell from something, there should have been signs of it or other similar pearls.

[Cain Rhamos]

"I don't think it's hers."

Cain frowns, looking around.

Maybe there was a hole or something that it managed to crawl through.
