“Some call me Lucy or Lucky, legally I’m Lucille ‘o’ Donovan”

[Gidget]

"What name do you prefer?"

“Most call me lucky, but I have no preference.” She grinned “what about you?”

[Gidget]

Gidget stared at the woman for a moment, allowing the silence to stretch awkwardly on. She should have known better than to ask this stranger for her name. She gave a little shrug of her shoulders.

"Whatever." She didn't seem interested in giving her name to Lucky, and was quick to change the subject. "I'm guessing you came over on the Arch or whatever it's called, right?"

“Whatever, yeah.” Lucky nodded it was possible that little did Gidget know Lucky was going to accept that as her name. “I was asked to come upon them possibly needing someone to help with the ceremony, you know, maintenance and things. Little would I have known they were going to need a lot more than what I’m capable of in order to keep that thing operational”

She hissed a chuckle at her own joke.

[Gidget]

"So you fix things? Or you tinker?" Gidget asked, getting more comfortable in her seat. It was only a moment later that their food was brought out and placed between them. The man smiled, bowed slightly, and retreated, allowing the girls to turn to their food.

The fajitas were still sizzling on a black skillet, and there were tortillas set aside in a little container for them.

“A bit of both I mean I learned to fix things after I tore them apart. Self taught myself everything and all. You know screwing some nuts and bolts and plugging in some wires is easy enough a Qibeast with thumbs can do it.” Lucky caught with her hand as she was drooling when the smell and sound of her food approached. Someone actually cooked this food and brought it to her not to mention it’s unlike anything she had ever seen.

Gidget had some large, green peppers stuffed with some sort of chicken and rice mixture. She grabbed her fork and knife from beside her plate and began to pick almost idly at her refried beans.

"Don't know what a Qibeast is. Something from your world?"

“Yes like your beasts but over time they had been bathed in Qi just like the rest of the Qi users. They grew larger, extra appendages, consistently twisting into new things. Some learned to speak, some were pets, many were very useful when harvesting parts of their bodies.” Lucky explained like she was talking to someone of young age. Not to treat Gidget like a child but in perspective of someone who wouldn’t know the every day norm or as if she found Gidget living under a rock not knowing anything else.

Lucky looked at her food and kind of started scooping up everything in a big sizzling lump the meat, veggies, and sides were melding together on the hot plate. Because she was almost like a child herself and had no idea how to eat this kind of meal properly.

Gidget paused and reached out. She fetched a tortilla from the little container and held it up. "Fajitas are meant to be eaten like tacos. You put that food together on a tortilla and then wrap it up."

Handing Lucky the tortilla, she went back to her own plate, and contemplated what she was saying about Qi beasts. She tapped her fork idly on the plate. "So it was... what, super dangerous over there?"

“Oh most would say so I don’t know any different but judging by the riot that recently happened maybe it wasn’t much worse. But at least your resources are as plenty as the amount of people still alive... I think I heard some statistic that before the wars through the many years they waged and ruined our land our population was probably...” she couldn’t remember the actual statistics as she took the tortilla and started mimicking what Gidget said to do. “Well it was many times more than what I know and we were still scraping by. Having to fight Qi beast and Qi users was just every day. It was hard to live until ripe old age.”

[Gidget]

She snickered. "Oh, come on. You can't be that old." The tiny girl was poking at her food, almost idly, not actually sitting down to eat anything.

“I’m nearing thirty, I’d be pretty old if I made it to sixty however, especially in the situations I had to live in. Powerful and rich lived to be much older. I also am too young to know what the world was like before it’s wars and global catastrophes. You got to understand, we’ve had more than one apocalypse and everything is pretty much radioactive with Qi.” She was possibly stuffing the flat bread with her mush of ingredients and it was possibly delicious and so filling.

"Well, now you don't have to deal with any of that here. Just stay away from microwaves."

Gidget snickered to herself at her own little joke.

“Will keep that in mind...” lucky was not sure if there was a joke in that she took it rather seriously. She shoved a big filled fajita in her maw before shoving it to the side of her mouth and looking like a big chipmunk to keep talking. “Stwill, I’m wery glad Qwi es no a big deal, faced chopping’ uff my arms any day.” She continued to wolf down her food like she hadn’t eaten since she got here.
