[Ashe]

"The sides are the same no matter what. And it's 3D."

[Lucifer]

"Correct again. And yes, it is in three dimensions. Now I want you to focus your eyes on the fire. Don't look at it, but look through it. Deeply."

[Ashe]

Ashe looked up at her father at his instructions, then back at the cute. To not look at it felt silly, but she would try.

"Okay." She nodded and tried to look through it, towards him on the other side of it until she felt her eyes ached.

[Lucifer]

"Let your eyes unfocus. But be aware."

[Ashe]

She blinked a couple of times at the instruction, feeling some of the strain ease up as her eyes watered a little from staring into the flames so intently. Nodding, she tried again, letting her focus shift until the cube began to seem hazy, trying to see what it was she needed to.

[Lucifer]

She wouldn't see anything new exactly, but she had a sense of something pulsing within and around the flame.

[Ashe]

She instinctively tried to focus on it to get a better look at it! Cocking her head to the side, she hummed slightly.

"There's something inside!"

[Lucifer]

"Is there now?"

He'd ask, but say nothing as he held the cube of fire. The more she tried to focus on what she was sensing the harder it was to sense, like it was just slipping right by her.

[Ashe]

She nodded vigorously, stopping as it seemed to disappear more. Straightening, Ashe made herself start over again, looking into the cube, letting it go out of focus.

"I'm not sure what it is, though." She would try to contain her excitement a little more so she wouldn't slip back again.

[Lucifer]

"To put it simply. 4D. It is something normally beyond the natural abilities of your kind. But with practice and know how. You will be able to see it."

He'd nod once with a small smile as he continued to hold the cube of emerald fire in his hand.

[Ashe]

"Really?" Her tone rose in excitement, eyes and smile both widening. How cool was that? She continued to try to see without focusing.

"But what is 4D?"

[Lucifer]

"Another dimension in space and time. Think about someone drawn on a piece of paper. They are stuck in 2D, so you, a being in 3D would be similar to a God. You could pick something out of a box of lines by reaching above it. Since you can see more than lines. The fourth dimension lets you see more than those stuck with only three dimensions."

[Ashe]

Ashe's brows knit together as she considered this.

"So what I'm seeing is inside and outside the flames?"

[Lucifer]

"In essence yes. You are limited by what you are. But I want you to understand that there is more to everything other than what you can see, feel, hear, smell, or taste."

[Ashe]

Ashe nodded once, lost in thought as she took the words to heart, but also wondered.

"How many dimensions can you see, Dad?"
