Like a Wrecking Ball (John/Eve)

"Actually the odor is enough to fell most lesser Gods."

He'd wink in reply to John before waiving them off dismissively.

"Never said I was here to whip you into shape. And anyone that died here wouldn't have been worth the time. Obviously."

Was it cold? Yes. Was it Callous? Yes. Did his eyes do a cursory scan over the God territory? Yes. And did he need to suppress frowning at what he saw to keep up the smarm? Probably. Maybe.

"Look, I know you survived." Meaning the other Mathew, obviously. That's the biggest duh that's ever been said, but there was something in the way this guy spoke that irritated her. She knew people who would have died in this, that much was as easy to assume as it was to breathe. But spoilers. She wasn't about to say anything else that worried her.

But hey, if surviving was step one for him to consider it not a waste of time, that was a plus. Evelyn hurried towards the pyramid, picking up the pace.

[John]

John would just give one good "Heh" at Mathews remark as he continued to head into the pyramid. He wasn't in the mood to exchange banter right now, at the mention of who lived and who didn't he would look at his hands as he walked...

"Seems sacrifice still isn't something you respect."

He'd say more or less to himself, but really it was just a statement at the general situation.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Always a way to avoid it hammer man. Always a way to avoid it. Just gotta know where to look."

He'd flash Eve a wink because of course he did survive. The sneer and veneer back up. No matter what happened here these were not the people he knew, this wasn't his home, they were not his friends, and this world had already tried and failed to save itself. He wasn't here for them, he was here for his people back home.

So they wouldn't have to sacrifice like he would.

That being said, he wasn't going to stop them from doing their thing, and if they were going to head to the Pyramid he'd just as soon go another direction and leave the thread so that stuff can be GMed.

[John]

John's turn to smile with some smarm and look back at the young Mathew.

"You'll learn when you grow up, sacrifice finds you."

He'd make a big motion about reach over to touch his right arm like it was hurt for a moment before shrugging with as much Mathew brand sarcasm as possible and walked again.

Oh that's cheating. Eve gave John a look but didn't say anything, and when she glanced over her shoulder, Mathew seemed to be gone!

"Well at least that's one nightmare fuel that didn't fall from the sky." She sighed, ready to see what was next.

[Mathew Amtrum]

Mathew would just keep strutting away, middle finger raised in the air, waiving back and forth in tempo with his hips.

[John]

John would glance back at the middle finger waving Mathew and smirk. That ass still looked good, that wasn't fair.

"To be fair, that fight would probably have been rather difficult for us without that nightmare falling from the sky. I just can't let him know that... No offense."

Eve firmly keeps her eyes planted on the middle finger, sticking her tongue out at it for half a second. At the idea of keeping him from knowing that, she snorted a laugh and raised a brow.

"None taken. He already knows." And so did they. She'd been struggling not to be dragged into that sink hole, and John seemed to have trouble with it, as well. If Mathew hadn't fallen out of the sky when he did...it wasn't pretty to think about.

"So where'd you come from, anyway? Most people around here's either headed for the pyramids or gone." Speaking to someone else who had essentially fallen out of the sky from her perspective.

Mathew is gone and his roleplayer will be waiting to be tagged for GM stuff!

[John]

John would look to Evelyn, used to not being recognized or considered.

"I'm Hephaestus. I was in my forge when shit hit the fan and managed to rally a bunch of the gods to The World Tree. Odin, Thor, and Freya have gathered quite the crew. I brought Medusa, Aphrodite, and Siegfried with me to come check on the pyramid and the Egyptians. Odysseus should of also been this way, you seen em?"

John was curious asking and name dropping, but more so, so Eve could feel like she wasn't alone. However, he also sent Medusa into the Pyramid, but he wanted to see for himself, so he continued to press on to enter the pyramid.

[Evelyn Amtrum]

"Name's Evelyn. Nice to meet you." There were some mighty fine names he dropped, but Eve didn't mind. She was glad to hear them mentioned, other names added to the list as survivors and fighters.

"Yeah, I ran into him a while back. He's been getting civilians to the Pyramids to keep them safe." She hadn't known he sent someone ahead, but there was a notable tension that eased when he mentioned they were also going towards the Pyramids.

"More the merrier right now, honestly. At least the flood's going down." She frowned. Their path forward was easier now, though she didn't know the details behind what happened to Poseidon, it was safe to assume he was the one who unleashed the flood. "Golem and Basilisk are around; he was on his way already. Basilisk was with civilians when that worm started tearing the ground and buildings up."

[Lucifer]

As they neared the Pyramids they number of bodies would increase, both of those that lived in God Territory and those of the strange monsters. Though the plants that grew over the pyramid seemed to be different than before. No longer vibrant in color, they appeared to be carved out of stone.

[John]

John would draw his hammer as the bodies grew in density, looking back at Eve he would nod before the pink flames surrounded his body once more as he decided to just keep his God Right activated for now. He'd continue into the pyramid hoping the vines were turned to stone by Medusa somehow and they were simply walking into a large group of survivors with Odysseus and Medusa atop a horde of fallen enemies triumphant...

And not another comment about the flood. He wasn't sure if he could keep himself in check thinking about it much more.

Eve summoned a dagger at the density that seemed to spike, noting with approval and relief that that included several of the dead monsters from before. She assumed the plants were Medusa's doing, since Hephaestus mentioned sending her ahead.

She looks around for a familiar face, and hopefully some sign of what had happened while they'd been talking with Mathew.
