Well I'm in another gotta get shit off my chest mood.
Its not the fact that items make people uber powerful, or the fact that people have too many items for one person to carry. Its the fact that one person has worked on their character for so long, had over 100 fights, become super powerful, and in walks the 'new' freshmen bitch, with items that make him almost as strong as the graduates. And you know what that gives this 'new' person bragging rights for nothing. It gives them stats for having friends. It gives them power for 2 fights. What does that give the Sophmore, or Junior, or in even many cases the Graduate who fights that person with so many items, who has 10-15 fights, and only over 100 posts? It makes them angry, frustrated, in many cases pissed off beyond belief.
You know why I dont like item whores? Because they are able to brag about power that isn't theirs.

I hate it when people state a character can't be something because it is too 'unrealistic' when a favored thing like height is prevered over the others.
I mean think about it!
Who the hell should care?
If you have a board of about fifty active members, guess what, that means the entire board on this site is only 1% of the whole damned board! Why the hell care if a bunch of the members on the board is the same? Why make one suffer because they are rich, dress up like a wanna-be ninja, or whatever the hell else goes through their head either!?
LET THE NPCS BE NORMAL, THEY ARE 99% OF THE DAMNED SCHOOL!
As long as they RP it respectfully, I don't care, but to just bitch and complain about them making a desicion like that is just plain stupid.
Though I will admit, having more then five Squalls walking around a place could be quite annoying.

Well I've worked out why I dislike item whores. I dont think they diserve them. They havn't worked har enough for items like that. Maybe after 90 fights, once they get 90 fights I'd have to say they have worked hard enough for items like they have. But the simple fact of the mater is, in my eyes, none of the item whores I have seen diserve the items and thats just how I feel on the matter.
And so I can say this is a flame, all fo the item whores are ass hats.

Just do what I do. If they bitch about being faster/stronger than you, just get enough charisma to state: "If you don't bow down to my character, then I won't act as if you are physically better than me."
Note: This arguement only works with people that have low charisma. Which on 552, which I am assuming you're referring to, has nobody with maxed out charisma except Jester and me I beleive. =O
