If you could change something about this board, anything at all, what would it be?

I think I would whipe it clean and try again, as many things happened that I consider mistakes. but I would like to know what things the players would change if they had the chance.

The only thing I really don't like is the thread turn in thing. I thought it was a good idea, but I just seemed like it was being abused (or maybe it was just me?). I haven't looked at it in a while so I don't know how exactly it turned out, but that is the only major problem I have with the board.

Yeah I'm not much of a thread turn-inner either. I didn't really bother with it. I haven't bothered with Qi either because it confuses me, but hey if it works for other people its fine I guess.

Other than that I think things are alright, I love this board <333



Question: If things are 'wiped clean,' does that mean everything? Because I've logged all my backthreads for backstory. Will we have to start our characters over? o.o

I stand by the fact that it's a good method to just fighting all the time, but the fact is, sometimes, a fight and a 'thread' mix, meaning there should be a line that is decided. If over 50% of the thread is 'fight', then, I'd consider it a fight thread.

If over 75% of it is conversation or other.. that's a 'turn-in'..

At any rate, I'm a slow-poster as well (usually, anyways), and I'm not benefitting from the turn-in as much, but, I still think it's a plausible idea.

...Maybe clarification on how the money system works or something.. eh.

^ I agree to that, as well as stats being reset, items as well, but characters CAN stay because that is the most important part in RPing anyways. Seriously, if you are more concerned about stats taking time then the development of your character... you are one RPer messed up in the head.

As for thread turn in... I initially planned on it being a replacement for fight experience, not go along side it. So yes, stat inflation went up way too much. Also, I would recommend a lot less leniency on how many stats somebody gets if you keep it in as well. Though I still think no stats is beginning to appeal to me more and more as I RP, though I think that would be wiped completely clean IF we stop giving damned special treatment to certain RPers and allowing them to have more stats to start out with than they SHOULD be having. Even staff shouldn't have it, the only person I can logically understand having an inflated boost is the admin and special quest characters, the main reason I joined 259 when it first began was because I loved the original idea Leon had about teachers only having 110 stats to start out with, making it possible to catch up with and beat them. Go figure it was taken out.

So yeah... total wipe besides characters, perhaps keep the biographies too, and just put them in a section that says 'Old Biographies' so people can reference to them when remaking their character.

Oh, and next time we go along, let's just take out items too, seriously... All the ideas that I liked about them as well were completely stripped away about a week after this board was created.

That's just my opinion though.

Ghistey just stated all the things I consider mistakes, not to mention FoA, but people seem to like aging for no reason without really developing that far besides Chi and Aureus that is.

And a total whipe would not mean all threads deleted, that would mean I would go about turning everything that had changed back to the way it was when I first made this board.

OK Leon I'm sick of saying this. YOU are the admin, this is YOUR board, if you don't like something the way it is now change it.

Don't get me wrong I like that you are willing to ask the members opinions and such, but if there is something you don't agree with or just don't want to happen for whatever reason don't let it happen. I'm not saying become evil dictator or anything (honestly I would probably hurt you if you do) but there are times when you should just put you foot down and say no.

Alright you see, I have certain issues here. I let people join my staff that didn't share the same dream as me, and I felt bad abotu saying no to peoples suggestions cause that would turn me into the staff member I dislike.

I dont like the item shops, I dont like the thread turn ins, I dont like the fact I gave away items and stats for no reaosn at all. The onyl reason these things happened was because someone on my staff said "Hey I have an idea."

This board isn;t fun for me anymore, every time it changes I find it harder and harder to Role Play here. I either have to fix things or slowly watch 259 go down the shit hole.

Note: Not saying I'm gonna leave, or delete 259, I'm just saying this board sucks compared to when I first made it.

Alright, these are all like just little branches on the big tree that is 259. They can easily be clipped back to your original idea without having to wipe the entire board. Youre right that they are a bit superfluous and if you dont think that they benefit the board as a whole, then I accept your judgement and right to change or delete them. Like Dylan said...

It's not going to make you a dictator to make decisions. That's why you're admin, and a good admin like yourself listens to ideas and uses his judgment to the best of his ability, and if something isn't good for the rest of the board, only you can really change it. We trust you.

Fer me, the excessive amount of items and cash given out is kinda a downer. I like the idea of the thread turn ins because not everyone likes fighting. However, I am willing to add some stricter stipulations to the system such as: The participating members will only receive EXP if they reach...2 pages. And then no matter what, they only get 1 point. 2 points if they get to five pages, 3 if they get to eight and so on. You could even have it so that it's only 1 point every five pages. Then taking into consideration how many members are participating. 1 point for 7 pages if 3 people are posting in said thread, etc. In addition we could eliminate getting EXP from fights specifically and just make it threads in general. It would work like what I've described above.

I don't like saying this, but if I remember correctly John, no one suggested you give out 5000 bucks to everyone last September, and all the other random giving awayness. In the same vein, the weekly competition, despite being fun, shouldn't award such awesome items. I know it's been handled, but I was just using it as an example. As for the item shop...ehh I'm not sure, but I really wouldn't mind seeing it go.

This is where I differ from other people. I've grown up RP wise fighting, constently, over and over again, thats just me and I have learned to accept that I am by myself when it comes to loving to fight.

But the way I see it is its only reasonable strong people become stronger by fighting, weak people stay weak because they dont fight, I see no reason to reward people for having a character to prefer not to fight, if they want a character thats strong and can kick someones ass if he wanted to, then they should spend their first few IC years fighting like there is no tomorrow, then when they reach higher ranks they can be that quiet person that doesn;t like fighting. If you start as a wuss that doesn;t like fighting, then you stay a wuss unless your character has ome development and descides to become strong.

But thats me, as I have said before, I'm alone on an island as my calibur of fighting is on a new level never before seen.
