I'm on a break from rp'ing at the moment. But when I'm back and on a full swing, I'd be glad to help.

*raises hand* Sure thing, mon capitan.
I'm in quite a few threads at the moment, but I'd be glad to help.

Kay, I just read this (actually, skimmed through it) so.. Yeah.
Like Thrush said, a lot of people on this site are generally busy, so posts can come to be a bit slow. (Like me, for an example).. Uh, let's see. If you guys read the thread I'm in with Dark..well, I completely forgot about his thread, and when I remembered, I still replied a month later. >_>''... Thing is, PMing reminders to post in the thread would really help. Not after every post, because that can get annoying, but lets say after three days the person still didn't post - ask them about it. Me? I haven't been posting lately because...I really have no reason. I just haven't been posting, but I keep track of which threads I have to post in. (The fact that there are two more threads for me to post in makes it all the more fun. >_>''...)
As for the OOC threads (especially the spam), I kind of agree with Lilith. Even though I've been on the here as long as Leon has (since he created the board and all~), I kind of understand what they're going through (like I'm sure you guys know, I've been on quite a lot of boards, and then I stopped going on because I didn't feel 'welcomed'). I've noticed a lot of new players disappearing because...well, because I guess they don't feel like they "fit in".. I partially blame myself for not doing anything after I realized this because it's also happened to me, but yeah. New comers, I think, don't know what to say in the OOC board because they don't know anyone, and generally come off as a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people (especially when the group has already established a great bond with everyone else in the group). If it's like anything about how I felt when I was new to a board, I just felt that everyone was friends with everyone, and then there's me, the new comer, the "newb"..etc., etc...
In my opinion, I don't think "newb patrol" would really work, particularly because no one really likes being called a 'newb', and because...well, I don't know. I always thought that RPing just sort of comes to you, so you shouldn't join a thread just because it's your duty. (Although I'm slightly hypocritical on this, as there are quite a few threads I didn't want to be in, but still am in, anyway).. Like...it's hard to explain what I'm trying to say. Instead of just two people being in this "newb" patrol, why not just everyone? I'm sure everyone here (oldies, at least) would be more than happy to help despite how busy they are/can be. It never has to be just two people to answer all the "newb" questions; moderators are generally there for that.
As for the "no rapist, no insane people, etc., etc...", I think that's up to the new comer. In my opinion, I think everyone has different preferences as to who they want to role-play with. I don't know, maybe they can put up an OOC note saying "No rapists", blahblahblah~.. Or, if it turns out to be a fight, send a PM and ask if the new comer wants any special "rules", like no permanent damage or something.
As for overcoming nervousness, it's really easier said than done. :P Sometimes, nervousness isn't even the case. -Shrug- I think for new comers to the board is like going to a new school. The school is formed up of different cliques (as much as I hate to generalize and what not), and you obviously want to fit into the one that makes you feel most comfortable. In our case, it's just one big clique, where as new comers don't really have a choice (but then they realize after they get to know us, it really is comfortable >>)... I'm not saying one big clique is bad (I think it's actually better than mini-cliques running around on the board), but I think that instead of them trying to fit in, we should be more "inviting" or whatever that word is... (Sorry, can't think at the moment. -_-'') Like, how about we, as the oldbies, send PM's to new comers if they want to role-play instead of the new comers always PMing us?
Apologies if I got some facts wrong. o___O;; Like I said, I just skimmed through it; I'll read it more carefully later on, but...yeah.

Hmm, part of what Kia said about the older members being the inviting ones makes sense. If only because it makes new people comfortable. Though as far as the nervousness about being new, etc goes, that's just something people have to get over. You're RPers, we're RPers, we know each other, but that doesn't mean we're gonna exclude you. It's pretty easy to be accepted by us. So just relax.

I set restrictions to the newb patrol because RPers in general are jack asses. Their characters will rape/permanently impare in any way shape or form a new person character just for kicks, because they use the excuse "But thats what my character will do."
"But they will send a PM to me if they plan to do that, right?"
Response: Ehahahaha...ahahaha.... ahahahahahahahahaha.... <.< . . . . BWAHAHAHAHAHA!.... Sorry that was funny. No, they wont. They will fuck you up, up, over, through, and from behind.
so thats why I did it, so new people dont have to run into a jack ass, there fore hopefully wont become a jack ass. I know I should have more faith in my players, but after the 'mature' era I was cautious about everything from then on.

Mature era? When Karel raped every girl in sight and me and Ally went a little far in a thread? I'm pretty sure all that was agreed upon OOC, so I dun think that's a valid reason not to trust us.

Now now...
*sharpening steamroller*
Hardly matters, anyways. This could easily go back and forth for days, but in the end, it would accomplish nothing, but only deteriorate things. In fact, I can agree with both at the same time, but, that would mean we would start to deviate from the main topic here, which is to welcome the new players.
Ya know?
