You should watch Garden State. It's a good movie.

Hard to explain. You'd have to watch it to understand the story.
In short, Michelle Krusiek and Joan Chen play the main characters. It's a conflict between traditional Chinese and next-generation Chinese culture.
Michelle's character is a very talented doctor. But she's a lesbian which she's too scared to tell her mom. In traditional Chinese culture, homosexuality is "disgraceful".
At the same time, her mother who is almost 50 has a secret of her own. She's pregnant. In traditional Chinese culture, having a child out of wedlock is "disgraceful". But it's also shocking when its revealed who the father is.
