OOC: Set before Correctional Facility, specifically after the "Once Over" thread. Yay, Emily still has white hair! :D I discourage initiating a fight now, primarily because I dunno what would be her stats then. XD Aye.
A certain black-haired Filipina would be found right there, sitting inside a Starbucks coffee shop. She sipped a bit of her already-cooled-down White Chocolate Mocha as she leaned over the glass, brooding and thinking things over.
What about? Well, of course... about what else? How things would've gone if she just plain refused Rem's "suggestion" of confessing her feelings to a certain german.
She hadn't had much sleep... enough to keep her thinking straight over the rest of the day, but enough to be disturbing. Usually, Emily'd sleep in crazy early hours of the night... Eh... she didn't feel like sleeping at all.
"Aray!" She said, pulling her cup back to the table as she felt her tongue slightly burnt by the continuous drinking.
...
It made her smile: It didn't matter how she got hurt, she'd still say "Aray" instead of "Ouch" or "Itai"...
... Heh, she supposed-- maybe something most of her nationality shared?
Attachment.
She looked down at her hands; a few seconds turning into minutes of staring before she rolled them onto a fist.
That was her greatest problem, wasn't it?
She found it too hard to let go.
Just like these shallow feelings of infatuation.
"Haaay naku... [oh, boy....]" she exasperated, half-amused... half-troubled.
Well? Not like she was going to disappear. She's got all the time to think.

It needed to be something, just anything right at this point. Though..He couldn't exactly tell what it was..Sugary, sweet something?
A donut?
No..No, a coffee.
Yes, a coffee.
However, would they accept prison shirts and handcuffs? It wasn't exactly the most pleasing statement out there, but it was something. Something to wear..Which he claimed would never take off.. Black text planted Metro City Jail on his back..
Walking around downtown, seemed like a journey, especially for something to drink..Or something to snack upon? The short hair wavered in the wind. Somewhat highlighted..He gave a dark stare as the streets bustled with people..
Yeah, California was busy.
Handcuffs hung at his wrist, hands in pockets as he looked up from his dark stare..
Starbucks.
..Better than nothing..
Cody's legs moved, covered by those semi-torn jeans to open up the door into Starbucks, looking around a bit for the front counter.
He said nothing.
"Number 9, order's up! One MBL!" Came a voice from the back. Cody began walking towards the counter. There was a seat with his name on it.
"R-right, on my way!~" Said a tiny voice, she was wearing an interesting uniform..Cody kept stepping forward..As the waitress came closer, she began to lose her balance.
"O-oops!!"
She tripped. Her plate came forward, she fell forward, coffee spilt all over Cody, Hot coffee..
He didn't budge, just stood there, because there was more coming. The plate fell forward, smacking against Cody's shoulder as the girl made impact with Cody, knocking him back a bit.
"Oof!"
The plate shattered into pieces on the floor.
"Ohmigosh! I'm sooo sorry!!" The girl pleaded an apology. She frantically scooted downwards to pick up the broken pieces of the plate.
"I--it's my first day." She said nervously. "I got this job to help my boyfriend.."
Cody still said nothing..
..He only knelt down, picking up the hot coffee cup, and a few bits of shattered plate.
..Not realizing his wallet had fallen on the ground.
Standing up after some collection, he gave the girl the broken bits and peices, as she promptly dropped in the garbage.
"Th-thank you!" She smiled, heading back to get a cloth.
Cody didn't smile.
"Don't worry about it.."
..Tch..I'm so horrible..
He watched her skip away..
Only to have another girl catch his eye. Now this was rare..Black hair..Interesting choice of clothes..If anyone didn't know any better, Cody would be gawking at her. Undressing her with her eyes even..However, if she did make eye contact with Cody, especially after what had just happened.. Cody would shake his head, to get himself out of the trance.
He would approach the seat, not realizing his wallet still on the ground..
"One small coffee..Black please.."

Emily was finishing her cup. Ah, halfway -- she began to love coffee... well, it was primarily because Unfettered piqued her interest when he downed that cup of coffee a few months back... ... ... and she kissed him on the cheek. ... the cheek... She shook her head. No! No! She mustn't think of that now. Not like Emily wanted to feel this way about him. Mayb- *Crash*Her thoughts went disturbed when she'd notice a waitress and some guy picking up what seems to have been left of a plate and several other things. That guy looked a little cold... and considering that he was wearing jail clothing, eh... kind of intimidating. Is he some sort of escaped convict or something? She watched the scene unfold with great interest as she sipped some more of her coffee. A hand on her chin and leaning over the table she watched carefully, noting quickly that he noticed her. Rather awkward. Her eyes darted off to look in some other direction, promptly returning just as he went off to the counter. ... wait, on the floor. Is that a wallet? Maybe his wallet? Eh, he might've stolen that... after all. Look at that shirt. ... No. No. It was best not to judge a person like that. After all, who was she to pass judgment when she, herself, almost ended up in jail a few years ago? "Thank you, Shinichi-san." she'd say to herself. Setting her now empty coffee cup on the table, she went for the wallet and picked it up. She peeked at the contents: no ID anywhere and quite a bit of money. Eh... Emily wasn't the type to gawk at money. In fact, she disdained the fact that she had to be so loaded when her countrymen back in the Philippines don't even earn a quarter as much as she does. She glanced at Mr. Jailbreak. Well, he was interesting... might as well initiate a random conversation. She'd line up behind him as he ordered a cup of ordinary coffee... Well, if he found out about his wallet being missing she'd promptly head for beside him and lean over the counter, handing the wallet over to him. "This yours?"

Sitting plainly at his seat, he waited much for his coffee. He hadn't had a good Starbucks in a long time. His tired eyes bent against the counter, waiting for his drink..He needed something to pick him up. Not to mention all the hot coffee spilt over him. It was rather unnerving..
And embarrassing..
Blonde highlights on his dirty blonde hair shifted as he moved one hand over his eyes, shifting those bangs..He sighed intently into his hands..The woman gave her an odd look..
So this was what it would be like to be different from everyone, a hated sculpture of pure feeling. Sure, he was not so, SO new in town..But still everyone has their fair share of adjustments..He hadn't even made any friends yet. It was rather..Dissatisfying.
He opened his eyes to his palms, and a rather shiny handcuff link closed on his wrist. He had a headache, but that really didn't matter..
It was hot here..
Maybe he just missed Canada.
..I hate this.
More or less, enjoying things around this town wasn't so simple..Especially when dressed like an escaped convict. But Cody didn't care..He never did when they packed him away into that stuffy little cell, only to be tortured. What a shame..
Ugh..
He went to pay for the drink, reaching into his back pocket for his wallet..
Eyes opened a bit wide, his wallet! It was gone! He patted the other sides of his pockets, keys..Check..
Jeans..
Empty pockets..
Damn, where is it?!
"Here's your coffee sir." The server said, handing him the coffee..
Cody nodded, still looking for his wallet..
How embarrassing..
"This yours?" Said a small voice from behind him. Cody turned around. It was that black haired girl from earlier!..Still wearing those..Rather provoking clothes..
Scanning up and down her quickly, Cody blinked at what she was holding..It was a brown wallet.
"Uh..Might be..Lemme check.."
Cody took the wallet from her hand, and like a rubix cube puzzle solver, he opened up the wallet..To a hidden zipper underneath the change pocket. Inside he took out a small photo..It was Cody, a long time ago, earning his black belt..He was a young spunky boy back then..
"Yeah, it's mine.." Putting it away, taking out a twenty from his pocket.
Again looking at that honest face. She could have taken it for herself..
He flashed a tiny smile, something he hadn't done in years.
"..Thanks."
"Will that be all for today sir?"
He faced the server, once more..Sliding the twenty towards them.
"..And whatever she wants. It's on me."

"Uh..Might be..Lemme check.."
He took out a photo...
...
Well?
"Yeah, it's mine.." Her eyebrow rose when she saw him taking out a twenty dollar bill from the wallet. "..Thanks."
"Will that be all for today sir?"
"..And whatever she wants. It's on me."
"It's nothing. However..." She said, smiling back and shaking her head lightly. Well, she took out her own wallet-- a red one that pretty much matched her clothing. Though, the leather looked a little worn out... and what seemed to be gold before was nothing more than a greenish lay of metal.
Something important, perhaps? "Thank you for that but... I really would rather pay for my own stuff, " she told him as she handed the exact amount for what she had in mind. "Oh, and uh... a White Chocolate Mocha, Venti with whipped cream and caramel, please."
"S-soy milk or---?"
"Nope. Whole Milk~."
She beamed at the cashier, who seemed quite surprised. What? Emily LIKED sweet things... or at least, was in the mood for really sweet things right now... and she was allergic to soy milk, or anything made out of that bean.
Either this or Alcohol: this was a better alternative.
She placed her wallet back at her purse, before smiling at the blonde boy. "You seem like a nice person, care to join me?"
A wink before picking up the tall cup of sugary goodness. Mmm... they were quick today.
But...
What will it be, Mr. Jailbreak?
=D?

He took a sip back of his small black coffee. It wasn't strong, it wasn't weak..
It was just right.
"It's nothing. However..."
Cody peeked up at her, holding a small red wallet, a little worn but it did the trick I suppose. It was about as red as her clothes. How utterly strange. It was interesting..Maybe the girl had an affinity with the color red and black? Oh well..
Wasn't his place to ask.
"Thank you for that but... I really would rather pay for my own stuff, "
Oh, well that was a little bit of money in Cody's pocket, I guess. Though a generous refusal..Maybe she was already influenced by his appearance already..He watched as she handed the server a small amount of money, in exact change no less..She knew what she was getting.
Not surprising if she was.
"..Alright, suit yourself." he said, although it didn't matter to Cody.
"To each their own.."
Taking another sip of coffee.
"Oh, and uh... a White Chocolate Mocha, Venti with whipped cream and caramel, please."
"S-soy milk or---?"
"Nope. Whole Milk~."
Well! This was interesting. Such a large amount of sugar and sweetness for someone so small..Hm. Perhaps she needed it?
He gave out a small chuckle underneath his breath.
"Heh.."
Slipping his wallet back into his pocket, SECURELY this time, so that way it wouldn't fall out. Cody sat back, sipping another part of coffee, looking off to the side, and eyeing the server as she worked to make this girl her Sweet coffee.
Yeah, she was sweet alright.
This would just add to it.
Not to mention kill her teeth anamel.
Cody's eyes looked over as she put her wallet back in her purse, before making eye contact once more with her. She smiled at him..
Cody looked away, almost with one of those "I didn't see anything" faces..
..Secretly, he was flattered.
..And a little confused.
"You seem like a nice person, care to join me?"
..Cody's eyes widened.
"Nice?"
They narrowed suddenly, almost as if angry state. Nobody had called him "nice" before. A nice person? No..Cody was far from that..But..He really was. Just..In his own way. He closed his eyes, weighing his options..
Was this a trick?
..Or something else? Something different?
Was it what people called friendship?
Besides..Cody was confused..Why would anyone want to hang around with a guy like Cody. Then again..She didn't know anything about him..
Cody smirked, opening his eyes, putting one elbow on the counter.
"..Sure, why not?"

"..Sure, why not?"
The girl smiled again, taking her cup of white chocolate mocha with her as she went and led the guy, whom she knew in her mind as "Mr. Jailbreak", towards an empty table near the window. Apparently, there were two similar sized cups right on the side, implying that this was her third serving of sweetness.
... could she be hypoglycemic? Maybe.
She sat down, and waited for him to sit down on the chair on the other side of the little table before she began: "Some introductions are in order, I suppose." She said, taking out a hand for a handshake. "My name's..."
... A pause.
Hnn...
"... Kari. Kari Aoyama." she finally finished. Emily wasn't in much of a mood to introduce herself with the name "Emily" for now, after all... she met this guy out of the blue with no absolute idea if he really IS what he looked to be.
-- or even if he studied at Public High School #259, as well.
Well, she had a few questions in mind. Like, what he was doing around wearing a prison shirt.
Not being prejudiced and all... just concerned. Police were roaming around; they could mistake him for some sort of criminal or whatever.
Well, if he read Manga, he'd recognize the name quickly and probably know her as the Mangaka who went awol after selling out her last work.
Eh...
... Emily wasn't in the mood to draw nowadays. "And you are?"
...
And a little sip off that sweet mocha goodness.

He observed her as she got up from her seat, walking towards the table she had been presently sitting at before this whole wallet fiasco had gotten out there and out of hand..
Looking at the table..
Er..
Wow..
Cody's eyes widened at the fact that there was 2 other large cups of coffee..Er..My goodness..
Cody looked at her, and if this was an anime..He'd have several sweatdrops over his head right now. She must be..Hopped up on..What? 90 pounds of sugar now? He shuddered at the thought..
He examined as she sat down in her seat..Those clothes possibly getting the best of him..But he managed to keep his cool within himself. Taking his eyes off her for a moment to go and sit down..
..They were rather..Provocative..
Cody sat down in the empty seat, holding his coffee in one hand.
"Some introductions are in order, I suppose."
Oh boy..
Apparently, she wanted to make herself known to a total stranger..How weird..Yet brave of her..As she stuck her hand out for a handshake.
But through Cody's eyes..He remembered the pair of handcuffs on his wrist..How..Odd..
"My name's..."
Yeah?
What's with the pause?
Scared?
Frightened that you're talking to an escaped convict?
"... Kari. Kari Aoyama."
Alright..Fine.
Cody sat there, and regardless..Handcuffs or not, he took her hand with a light grip and shook it lightly. Taking another sip of his coffee..
"And you are?"
Eyes widened. Shit..What to do? Should he name himself off? Was she trustable? Cody's eyes darted to the right for a split second..he was nervous.
..His legs tensed up.
"..Kyle." He said..
Hey..It was better than nothing..
He took another sip of coffee..
Didn't know wether this girl could be trusted or not..

A smile as she gripped his hand gently, shaking his hand with a good amount of energy and enthusiasm. Hearing a bit of clanging, her eyes fell into the direction of the handcuffs on his hand.
... getting rather suspicious?
"..Kyle."
She tilted her head to the side. "Kyle...? No last name? Anything?" Kari asked before quickly dismissing, "Alright."
Well, there was something she had to ask.
Better ask it now.
"So, don't take this the wrong way. I know I am still quite a stranger, but I'm not judging you or anything; just plain curious..." she began, setting aside her tall cup of coffee and leaning over the table with her chin propped up with her palms; elbows right at the table, "Why the prison clothing?"
She meant well; dunno if he'd take it the way she tried to make it sound like. After all, she was a very curious person.
Well if he'd ask her why she had to wear such revealing clothing she'd promply answer how her favorite clothes were recked right on that day when she and several others fought against the enforcers.
... got a little cut on her left flank.
She was pretty glad she cauterized it, didn't hurt so much right after...

Cody..Or in this case..Kyle.. Crossed his arms. As he sat back against the chair. He sat back, it was nice having a good cup of coffee once in a while..It was like..A getaway. A getaway from all the stupid remorse that had happened to him over the past while..
Taking a sip of his coffee..
..With a girl no less..
My, this town was rather..Friendly?
"Kyle...? No last name? Anything?"
Kyle shook his head no. He preferred to keep quiet about his name for now. The way it was.
..That.
And the last name "Travers" was probably very uncommon...
..Not to mention wanted.
"Alright."
Kyle smirked a bit, having the question been dismissed from answering such an invaluable question..he was finally making a friend within this small Califonian city.
It was a chance to start new within himself.
"So, don't take this the wrong way. I know I am still quite a stranger, but I'm not judging you or anything; just plain curious..."
"Hm?"
Kyle looked up from his coffee for a moment.
"Why the prison clothing?"
Shit..
Knew this was coming.
Kyle's eyes widened as he blinked a couple of times at her question. He didn't know what to say. After all..He WASN'T supposed to be locked up and tortured for a the past few years..And nobody was supposed to know that.
"I.." He began..Setting his coffee cup on the table..
He looked away from her..Out the window, heaving a sigh.
"..It's a memento..Of my parents..My father, more specifically.." He said, rubbing his right arm's elbow.
"They're all I have left.." He said. He didn't bother looking at Kari for the time being..Just..Reliving the past through his mind was so tough..
So hard..
It had always been hard for Kyle.
Always.
He looked over at the girl, taking a quick glance, before moving his body towards her again, taking another sip of coffee.
"..Many people assume otherwise..I know..But..It's just me." He said through the cup of his coffee..
"Besides.."
Holding his cup at his side.
"..I just moved here from Canada. And in North America, I don't think they allow young people like us in prison."
He let out an empty laugh..
..Liar..
..And you fucking know it, Cody..

"I.." She tilted her head to the right, eyebrows raised as to show interest. "..It's a memento..Of my parents..My father, more specifically.. They're all I have left.."
"I see..." Heh...
Parents.
Her real parents died in a fire, threw her off the window to save her from meeting that fate. Screwed up her brain slightly.
The next set of good parents died of criminal means. Eh, Emily developed a sense of vengeance from that incident, though-- she took it out on herself more than anything else.
She too had it hard.
She was just lucky that there were people who, became a cushion for her to land on.
"..Many people assume otherwise..I know..But..It's just me." He said through the cup of coffee. "Besides...I just moved here from Canada. And in North America, I don't think they allow young people like us in prison."
Ah, someone familiar with law. Emily knew that little fact, considering she was tried for murder here, in the U.S. Though probably not as much as this guy.
Some notes:
- He's Canadian.
- He just moved here from Canada.
She laughed along with him, though it was a little more sincere than the other. "Seeing as your reasons are like that I see no problem then." Kari said, taking her cup and taking a sip out of the small opening. "You should at least consider a change of wardrobe soon though, no offense. I don't underestimate the importance and significance of your style in clothing... but jail clothes somewhat gives a negative impression of you. I find you interesting, for one."
...
"So enough of that," she said, quick to dismiss the issue. "Canadian? I'm from Japan... and the Philippines, been moving around quite a bit in this short life of mine. I hadn't been here too long in California either. Hopefully it hasn't been too warm for you?"
She'd smile, as usual... though it was obvious now that energy was building up.
Emily was approaching a dangerous, hyper high.
Could he take it?

Cody watched, from the inside of that little defensive barrier that he'd put up to protect himself, he was very insecure about himself..Especially at this age..People didn't like him, in fact, people hated him. Even though they all loved him at one point..
..Saving a city isn't exactly the best job.
Cody shrugged and looked downward as the girl laughed with him. Kari was indeed an interesting specimen.
"Seeing as your reasons are like that I see no problem then."
Cody shrugged, he didn't know what to think. As a smirk creeped across his face..There was much more to meet the eye between the two of them..They were each hiding something and Cody could sense it from a deep dark feeling inside.
..But that's teenage insecurity nowadays..
"You should at least consider a change of wardrobe soon though, no offense. I don't underestimate the importance and significance of your style in clothing... but jail clothes somewhat gives a negative impression of you. I find you interesting, for one."
Kyle cocked a brow.
Let's reiterate on that statement.
This Kari girl, thinks that he should get a new wardrobe change, seeing as people would get a negative impression on him. He was pretty sure that's what this Kari girl thought about him in the first place...
Wait..
Interesting?
Kyle held that brow there for a few moments.
How..In God's name..Was Cody anywhere NEAR interesting? I mean sure..He wore convicts clothes..Has a pair of handcuffs..
But that was the exact point, Cody didn't care about what people thought of him...Until now.
He opened his mouth to ask a question..But he was quickly cut off.
"So enough of that,"
Kyle closed his mouth, listening once more to her story.
"Canadian? I'm from Japan... and the Philippines, been moving around quite a bit in this short life of mine. I hadn't been here too long in California either. Hopefully it hasn't been too warm for you?"
Ah, a girl from overseas? Interesting. It seems that she hadn't been long in California either. A similarity indeed. Kyle leaned back in his chair, smiling.
"..Really?.." He said intrigued. "..Must be nice to see different countries." He said with a bit of enthusiasm.
Cody had only been to two places in his life..
..Hell, and back..
..Regardless.
"..You know, I do miss the cold days when snow fell during the winter months. I'm not exactly used to this hot weather.." He said, while taking a sip of coffee.
"..However, I don't think I'll be going back to Canada any time soon..Not until I'm done my studies at least." A bit of dissapointment, wrangled in his voice.
He looked up at the girl, who..Now..Looked like she was..Hyper?
Almost like an earthquake about to blow.
..With lots of happiness inside, like one of those rainbow volcanoes.
Kyle tilted his head to the side a bit, confused.
"..What about you? Do you wish you could be back home?"

"..Really?...Must be nice to see different countries."
Emily chuckled lightly, taking a bit of her coffee. Ah, the sweetness lingered on her mouth... which promptly reminded her to take at least a gurgle of water in the washroom before heading home. "..You know, I do miss the cold days when snow fell during the winter months. I'm not exactly used to this hot weather.."
A gulp of coffee.
"..However, I don't think I'll be going back to Canada any time soon..Not until I'm done my studies at least."
... and another...
"..What about you? Do you wish you could be back home?"
"Haaaaa~" she said, breathing finally as she finished half of her cup, cheeks reddening as if "drunk". The effect of sugar on Emily was drastic, and wasn't exactly very healthy. Her Qi surged and made the entire store around 10 degrees colder. "Nope. I don't. I don't have anyone waiting in Japan, or in the Philippines. Maybe I'd go to the Philippines for a little bit of reminiscing, but Japan? No. I'd rather stay here~."
She then picked her cup up again, drinking it as if it were water. Like earlier, she sighed and took a breath right after drinking. "Where do you study, by the way? Are you from Public High School 259 too?"

Cody watched as she swallowed her coffee, practically inhaling the coffee..An interesting bit..A cocked brow indeed at how amazing she ingested such a large amount of coffee in such a small amount of time.
It was quite an amazing feat, really.
He could only be amazed if he could ever drink that much caffeine. It would be an interesting bit. There was only one question that could be asked..
..Where did she put it all?
Cody sat with a cocked brow, just watching.
..Simply watching.
"Haaaaa~"
Finally, taking a breather..Goodness!
A sudden chill rather throughout Cody's body, as he sat there, feeling a sudden frozen beat at him. Like..It had just became cooler in the room. Quite shocked Cody's eyes widened.
Such amazing premise.
"Nope. I don't. I don't have anyone waiting in Japan, or in the Philippines. Maybe I'd go to the Philippines for a little bit of reminiscing, but Japan? No. I'd rather stay here~."
A good reason indeed..
Again, she picked up her cup. Guzzling it down almost as if it was her life saving elixir..Kyle took one sip of his coffee..
"Where do you study, by the way? Are you from Public High School 259 too?"
Kyle smiles, nodding his head once, in response.
"..Yeah, actually. I was just enrolled not too long ago." He chuckled.
Looking at her cup..
"..You..Uh..
..Would you like some more? My treat." He asked, a little nervous..
..Not because he was with a girl..But the look on her face..Almost as if she was drunk. Like she was..Dangerous?

"..Yeah, actually. I was just enrolled not too long ago." She smiled. A fellow student from that school. How fascinating~
"Are you a sophomore too~?"
Then he went to ask something else, and while she listened, she went off to finish the last of her cup's contents. "..You..Uh... Would you like some more? My treat."
"Nuuuuuoooo Thanks~" She said, stacking the empty cup along with the rest of her finished coffee cups. "I had enough sugar for today~ <3."
She would flash him a big smile before pulling her hands up for a stretch. Considering the design of her clothes, you could imagine what sort of things could be seen when the cloth'd be stretched in that manner.
