What does NOS mean?

NOS stands for Not Otherwise Specified. It's when a mental disorder appears to fall within a larger category but does not actually meet the criteria for a specific category. For example, DID (NOS), means that different types of dissociation may occur, but the pattern of mix and severity does not fit any specific dissociative disorder. Thus, they are given the abbreviation, NOS. In a nutshell it means that this is pretty much what they have in terms of a mental disorder, but with some slight differences.

Thanks Sara. Your diagnosis is a little window into a small part of myself. It's also cool to take a look at some other characters from a medical perspective.

Interesting stuff. I'm doing my senior thesis is psychology, though I'm pre-med, and not a psych major. I won't ask you to take a look at Alex, though, since I think he's more or less normal--if such a thing exists in modern psychology .

Killing people doesn't designate a sociopath or psychotic tagging... it has nothing to do with psychosis IMHO.

It doesn't. The term psychopath and sociopath come from the diagnosis Anti-Social Personality Disorder, and refers to the fact that those diagnosed have no sense of remorse or guilt for what they have done, be it stealing candy from children to murder. The fact that they are willing to cause public discord and commit questionable acts without a second thought it was makes them psychopathic.
