Step.
Step step.
These acoustics would suck for most things. It was a large space though, so a lot of people could fit inside.
That would sound even worse.
Zack closed his eyes at the thought and pushed his index fingers into his ears as if he could deafen his imagined perception of sound. It didn't help. Nevertheless, it was a nice plain place to get a good run in. It was getting cold outside, and he didn't have a treadmill at home.
Really, he should just run outside. Well resistance to the wind can come later. One thing at a time.
Looking up at the scoreboard clock, he noted the time.
8:23.
Just after the 259 co-ed basketball team suffered another crushing defeat mostly due to rough housing and causing too many fouls for the other team.
The gym was cleaned up and empty, the custodians not dealing with this area until a little later. Perfect time for some individual use.
Pacing from the centre of the court to the sidelines he let out a low sigh.
He really needed to get more exercise.

Emily sat by the rails separating the court from the audience seats. She was a little disappointed in the result of the basketball team's game, more or less was their fault since most of them were still against hers and Olesya's dominance of the school.
Sexist bastards.
But none the less, she hoped that they would get better results on the next game. After all, there was always room for improvement.
Yes, even for her.
Looking up and straying from her thoughts, the girl noticed a familiar boy: Zack. "Hey." she greeted, smiling a bit. "Long time no see."

He bent down to reach his toes, trying hard to keep his knees straight.
He wasn't very flexible.
"Hey, long time no see."
He turned to look at her. The turn changed his stretch considerably but he held the position briefly anyway, letting the new stretch move towards pain.
"Hey." He said. It was Emily. Perhaps she was a proud supporter of the drastically scrappy 259 basketball team. Well, maybe she had a job here too.
He turned his head the other way to symmetrically give the same stretch to the other side of his body.

"Hey."
Stretching?
"What are you stretching for?" she queried, letting herself slip down onto the floor. Emily was a rather flexible young lass, probably even more so now due to the fact that she does ballet on occasion.
"Exercising, maybe?"
Lame post, I know... sorry, dear. </3

"What are you stretching for?"
Zack straightened up and shrugged. Well all the painful areas felt relatively good now. He proceeded into a right arm cross, letting the sensation build up.
"Exercising, maybe?"
Zack would shrug in the midst of switching to the left arm cross, his formulated plan tumbling clearly from his lips.
"Yes. I was thinking of running a bit. Haven't spent much time doing any exercise as of late. "
He let his arms fall to his sides as he relaxed, turning to face her as he kicked his foot gently on the surface of the gym, testing his traction on it.
"Yourself? Were you here for the BBall game?"

"Yes. I was thinking of running a bit. Haven't spent much time doing any exercise as of late. "
Emily nodded. "So I see." It made sense, she supposed.
"Yourself? Were you here for the BBall game?"
"More or less." Emily told him, folding her arms. "I was bored at home, so I went over and watched. A little disappointing, though."
She shook her head.
"Exercise huh?" She said, approaching him slowly, "Maybe a fight should suffice? It'd be good exercise. I'm not going to use any fancy moves, just normal fist-fighting. How's that?"

"Maybe a fight should suffice? It'd be good exercise. I'm not going to use any fancy moves, just normal fist-fighting. How's that?"
He stood straight and blinked at her.
It could be fun. Though running wasn't terribly boring it would be a lot more engaging to the mind to fight. Exercise can target many things after all.
A slight smile hinted on his face and the boy said, "Sure. I accept your challenge."
His hands went to the collar of his gray drifit shirt and unclipped the two metallic blue over-ear clip headphones there. He wore them on his ears and got his mp3 player ready in his pocket.
He blinked again at her.
"Are you ready?"

"Sure. I accept your challenge." Emily smiled and began to adjust the fit of her opera gloves. Why, this would be interesting. He put his earphones on.
What? Is he compensating his auditory abilities for the fight to listen to some music...? Is he that confident? Hmm, interesting. We would see how this would turn out, no?
"Are you ready?"
Emily balled her hands into fists repeatedly, stretching out her fingers. "Yeah, so here goes!" She declared, rushing forward to aim a direct punch for his stomach, bending her knees slightly while extending her fist for his stomach. She would see how this would fare first, and figure out how he dealt with it.
Interesting.

The push of a button.
<NO SLEEP TILL...!>
Zack stood, watching as his opponent closed the distance between them rapidly. She must be a veteran at this. Such confidence and decision. Content, clarity... the makings of a good essay.
Eh?
<BROOKLYN!>
He snapped and launched forward suddenly at Emily's attack. His hand blasted towards her fist, trying to meet it head on. If she didn't back off, his wrist and knuckles could possibly tear. According to physics however, Emily's hand would suffer something similar.

Perfect.
Caught him.
She would try to go past the punch with a pivot and using her bent elbow, target upward towards the soft spot under his jaw. It would, most likely, force his mandible to close with force, thus sending a jolt of pressure to his ears, strain the back of his neck and give a shock to his skull enough to make him somewhat disoriented for a few moments.
Or at least, that was the plan.
Emily was holding back a bit...

Ooh a guitar riff. That means only one thing.
Zack closed his eyes, grit his teeth, and threw all his energy forwards. His hip muscles flexed and the tension in his neck area grew.
He smashed his forehead into Emily's elbow.
Head bang time!
Needless to say, Zack promptly crumbled to the ground. He pushed himself off in a groan, leaning his quickly bruising forehead on the gym floor, a grin spread on his face. This was way better than the last concert he went to!

Whoah, a direct hit?
Heh, it was more or less a good move, but reckless. Preventing a systemic stun with a freaking direct hit.
Ouch.
Not giving the boy time to retaliate, the white-haired female ran forward. This was a fight she had decided to deal with using her fists. No, she wouldn't dare use her legs to kick or use her Qi. Nope, she wasn't in the mood for that.
Instead, Emily leaned forward as she closed the distance between them. Her right arm pulled back in preparation for another punch and aimed for his chest again.
Nope. Not gonna hold back this time.
She wanted this exercise done quick.

He blinked as her shadow moved and the gym lights spat at his half open eyes. Still flying at him with the same arm? He completely pulled a Zidane on that elbow! If it hurts him so much it must've hurt her to some degree. Perhaps she was some Iron Maiden. That was an interesting thought.
Thumb to the switch.
<I am... IRONMAN!>
Distorted slide down the string brought his body flat onto the gym, his back feeling the cold gym floor seeping through his shirt. Ventilation, good.
His arms moved up in front of him in a cross block. His position on the ground should spread the impact across his body and split some of it onto the floor. It would however probably hurt still. The bracing should help compensate for his relatively weaker arms and help him keep the potential fatal strike from cracking something vital in his torso.

Well, Emily was more or less masochistic to a degree. Her arm was not yet hurting though. It was most likely due to the fact that she had been doing this a long time. It hurt, but not significant enough to stop her just yet.
In a flash, she would see the young man drop onto the ground. What? He's... a little unpredictable. It's as if he's depending his moves on a randomized playlist.
No matter. She pulled her body to hit downward for the hit but she didn't punch him, instead she would use the balls of her palm and aim an open palm hit for his stomach instead. Using her weight, she would put a dangerous amount of pressure onto his abdominal region that would be enough to rupture something.
He's gonna have a hard time in the bathroom for the next few days if that hit. Emily was also being a little easy.
"Stand up!" She said, grabbing his leg with her other hand and pulling him towards her. Lifting it slightly, she would pivot herself and use both her hands to fling the boy over her shoulders and onto the ground, anterior-side first before letting go. "Exercise isn't finished yet."
Her eyes were a little different.
