Mental Information
Personality:
Everything is a mystery, waiting to be solved. That's how the world is to Skyler. From birth, Skyler had been given things like building blocks and shoeboxes to play with, anything that sparked the powers of imagination. So Skyler takes to machines with great interest above most other things, and loves nothing more than to see one work. Skyler's entire childhood was devoted to tinkering about and repairing broken things. That, and learning. Skyler pursued answers to any question that came up. This led to early realizations to things that could have waited a few years... Like childbirth. Still, the need for knowledge led Skyler into learning all sorts of hobbies and crafts.
Social endeavors were a bit more awkward. Rough around the edges, Skyler tends to lack social graces like subtlety and the ability to chit-chat. Though not cold and inhospitable, Skyler is just direct and relatively quiet unless a good question is posed. Skyler is very investigative with normal chatter, and will often try to give a point to a conversation that shouldn't have one. Skyler just needs to see a purpose in everything. In an argument, Skyler tends to get people to let their control go through "slipped" comments and seems to be able to provoke people into talking. Which is great, because Skyler's more of a listener.
Mentality: Completely Stable
Ideal: Justice Prevails
Belief: Worships Lady Justice
Physical Information
Build:Skyler could be considered to be built like a two-by-four. That's too large. Skyler is more likely to be voted "most likely to slip through the cracks in the floorboards." There's no muscle mass to the body, though Skyler is quite athletic. Skyler's arms and legs are a bit longer than an average person's, at the expense of a narrow hips and shoulders. Skyler's hands are kept immaculate, despite activities that would ordinarily cause damage to the hands. Skyler's fingernails are coated in polyurethane, to prevent scratching the surface of the nails, as it takes quite some time to grow out of nail damage. It does make them shiny though, and combined with the lithe body, Skyler has often been teased for being a "girly-boy."
Defining Marks: Do polyurethane-covered nails count?
Description:
Skyler has an effeminate face that adds to the sissy-boy accusations. There's a distinct sharpness to the chin and nose, giving Skyler a stern look most of the time. Even a relaxed look can come off as a little on the harsh side. Skyler has thin, pale lips that rarely smile, keeping a well-kept set of pristine white teeth concealed. Skyler has soft, round eyes that are a bit at odds with the otherwise sharp features and style of dress. Preferring to keep a medium hair length, the detective tends to constantly get small trims for comfort's sake.
All of Skyler's clothing is custom made in Skyler's spare time. The most noticed item would likely be the hat, considering it's a dark blue eight-panel gatsby cap. It features a strip of striped blue cloth between the brim and body. Skyler's jacket is also quite unique. It's tight and sharp, with five gold buttons. But there's white stitching along the blue-black jacket, making it stand out from any other jacket of it's kind. The top button is always left open, so that the white dress shirt underneath may be seen. A tie or even a ribbon necktie will be fastened securely around the neck. The slacks are just slacks that match the color of the jacket, but are cuffed by about four inches, allowing the white underside to show. It's tied together with black boots that have white soles.
Fighting Information
Fighting Style: Police Judo and Military Sambo - Synthesis
Years Practiced: 8 Years
Description of style:
Police Judo is the most common form of self-defense martial arts among United States police officers. Judo offers a base for physical development and training to handle most common situations in a fistfight, or against small arms like guns and knives. It has no primary focus aside from it's defensive properties, making it a weak offense. Some officers will learn some offensive martial arts to compensate for the lack of offense in Judo. Military Sambo is a brutal offensive martial art that focused entirely on breaking an opponent to pieces before the user can be broken by the enemy. Many of the moves are close-in headbutts, elbows, and knees that maximize power by taking advantage of the user's weight and momentum to shatter key points in the victim's body.
Strengths: Combined, the two martial arts are very bi-polar. It's not balanced. Most of the time, Judo will be used. Judo relies a lot on muscle memory and pre-planned responses. As such, it's much easier to counter the counter attack than with spontaneous martial arts like street brawling. Because of the very counter-attack nature of Judo, those counter-counters will get countered, and again... Up until someone screws up. Judo's impulsive, yet each attack is more likely to be physically efficient because of the muscular memory, making the more likely to win the counter-your-counter competitions that arise. Sambo is... Brutality on a stick. It hurts like a m*****f***** with each hit, and has no qualms about snapping limbs and dislocating joints.
Weaknesses: There is a lack of balance. It's either very offensive or very defensive. Sambo is high-risk, because hits will be very likely taken. The user has to be prepared to take what they can dish out. Skyler doesn't make that cut due to a lack of physical development. Judo's defensive, and very lacking in distinction aside from the variety of counter-attacks at it's disposal. It's blows won't hurt nearly as much as Sambo.
History Information
History:
Skyler was a curious child, in all manners of the word. The early life was filled with learning and imagination, where Skyler displayed ingenuity and unusual dexterity. The child was tested for Autism because of the early signs of aptitude with minor social interest, but the results were negative. Skyler was just a shy kid. Considering Skyler's father was a policeman, Skyler always played on the heroic side in any imagined playtime, such as with cops and robbers. Skyler's mother was a stay at home mother, often having to raise her child without the presence of the father. Policemen were often on call for late night duty, so she was used to her husband being gone.
Skyler began learning father's martial arts at the age of seven, the father seeing this as a way to bond with his child after being so non-present. After being promoted to a desk job in homicide investigations, he finally had the time to truly be with his family. But father wasn't quite ever the same. While on patrol, he'd been energetic and a bit on the overconfident side. Homicide work had brought him to a more somber state. The one thing he didn't want, was for his child to wind up dead. Homicide had put the fear of death into him.
Skyler went through elementary school with little issue. Academics was natural, though the social aspects were lacking. Still, the child had friends and all was well enough that the teachers didn't complain much. The majority of complaints was the obsession over rules in the classroom, making Skyler something of a tattletale. The other kids ostracized Skyler for the habit. And if it weren't for the disdain expressed for such adherence to rules, Skyler may very well have become a lawyer wanna-be rather than a detective wanna-be.
Middle school life was a bit more tense socially, as things got away from play and more towards relationships and popularity. Witnessing many acts of supposed stalking, rumors and such, Skyler got the brilliant idea to start doing investigative work. It was about that time that Skyler began to dress up like a character in a Sherlock Holmes novel. It began with little cases like finding out who sent the anonymous love letters. When people got the sense they were being stalked, Skyler was on the case. Cheaters? Skyler knew who they were. Skyler's little business started to gain popularity, and it came to be that Skyler became known as "The Eye" for seemingly being able to see through any veil of mystery.
With the detective work money, Skyler got Chase, a ferret. Then, with some more rather motivated investigative work, Skyler did a series of trades and deals that resulted in turning a ball-point pen into a three-story building in the residential district. Skyler moved there, using commissioned crafts, trades, and detective work to pay the utilities. The parents were sketchy about it, at first, but Skyler has been there for several months and seems to be surviving well enough.
