Yeah, dude. Holyland. The one about boxing practice by himself until he finds someone else to "teach" him. Read it a bit, then stopped.

I had to stop reading just now cause I gotta head off for work but the series is great... It's definitely given me some ideas on exactly what direction I'm going to have Arthurs personality develop...

It may seem the democratization of perspectives implied by the Internet would help scatter each one's sense of self, but I fear this is not the case. To have so many channels to flip between now, and to have an accessible collective consciousness via the shared brain of the Internet may in fact actually confirm one's sense of individuality. The dominant self cannibalizing power depends on this structure's survival. For to be offered limitlessness and for separation from that limitlessness, to be implied over and over subtly, but continuously through the very designs of consumer culture only reinforces individualism instead of connection to that limitlessness.
The necessary estrangement of having things constantly tried to be sold to you being "I am lacking and I didn't even know it". Consuming becomes the means of participation, but never feels complete. The mode reiterates the world as separate from us to be watched, but impossible to interact in as we are made to believe ourselves each just a spectator. The diversity of perspectives we are offered flatten into a single otherness in relation to how we identify the point from which we are watching from: self. The father striking out at the world to defend his son, for example while the son knew himself to be in the wrong can now be seen by the son from the father's perspective and this is the gift death gives the living.

I think that the internet has (had?) a great potential for the unlimited exchange of news, ideas, and opinions; however, this fairly recent phenomenon of the "Internet Hate Machine" has given rise to an, apparently, far more prevalent form of 'sharing': The Troll. Instead of partaking in this free exchange of ideas, the Troll uses the mask of anonymity given to it in order to a) personally attack or insult other users, b) consistently give negative opinions and/or facts about a subject, whether or not they are borne of verifiable truth, or c) any combination of the above.
These days, one can hardly go onto a website or forum of any kind, looking for an opinion about something, without hearing at least one person who "just completely hates" whatever you were interested in, and thinks "you are a complete and total reject" for even having an interest.
It's my opinion that places such as 4chan were instrumental in this phenomenon. And frankly, it drives me nuts.
Honestly, Wikipedia's one of the few good things on the internet anymore. That and RP boards <3

I love it when people reply to my random babblings and or quotes. *Gives Adrian a shiny penny* Like everything, trolls have their place, but they really have become too prevalent. I wonder what post-trolling is. Trolling trolls? Can you even troll a troll? And if so is it worth making the distinction? Or would post-trolling be not being a complete fucktard? Which would be considered just being normal, but trolling is the norm, so it's not. It's a mindfuck. Pointless, really, but I had fun typing it. Anyways, I think there's good discussion to be found, but it's just hard to find. You need people who are looking for an exchange of ideas instead of a argument. EDIT:
