Shapeless darkness surrounded Vespy's senses and she breathed slowly, the sound of her heartbeat echoing in the world of black like a distant drum, far off and haunting...
She was aware of an unnatural warmth and in her rise from the depths of unconsciousness sensed a lifeless, sickeningly clean and bare scent like that of a new piece of plastic--plain and empty. The dark violet eyes fluttered open, the world a blur of dark smudges that moved about dizzily in her newly awakened vision.
Within a few moments of calmly confused silence, things became clear... A drab beige panelled ceiling with an airvent? Vespyr shifted her head to her left, her eyes falling with growing apprehension upon an uncomfortable-looking bed, in which rested a very bloodied person. The first thought rushing to her mind was a memory of waking on the floor of a cold medical room-- the walls a chilled grey, with arced stains of dripping blood, and the shredded body of a half-clothed man on the floor... Where am I?
Her head turned with quiescent franticness in the opposite direction, witnessing a similar spectacle. The girl sat up promptly, looking down to see that she was lying on a bed as well. This felt so... Wrong. Unnatural. Who were these people? And what-
Her head raised suddenly, and upon seeing a very tall man poised in a dully coloured chair, fell completely stone still. He was watching her. It was eerie, he looked oddly familiar, like she had a raging urge to say something to him but unsure of what or why... [/size]

The girl had been fading in and out of her own little world of her own accord, and it should have been no surprise that Katsuri had dropped himself off into the darkness of his own lids being locked about their opposites in an attempting struggle to keep light from annoying those pupils.. it worked.. vaguely at least, but he was quite awake, able to hear all of the sounds, from the faint beeping of students whom needed to be kept on heart rate monitors, to those whom were on oxygen machines in order to keep them stabilized until the over worked hospitals could pick up the remainders.
It smelled of bleach and the stench of blood, something that was all to familiar to all battlefields given they had to use some manner of sterilizing the surroundings but were unable to steam clean and scrub due to the influx of patients, they merely doused it with chemicals to keep germs dead, and this place had no lack of them, just as anywhere else in this school, city.. or the world for that matter.
It was fortunate that the nurse had told him this girl had just experienced a lack of oxygen circulating her brain for a very short amount of time, this thanks to the brain pulling all of the oxygen rich blood to itself when the body began to lose it, which was no surprise as she lost function of her muscles first, then slowly her ability to stay conscious, and if he had kept doing so she would have lost all muscle tension and quite literally released her bowels on herself.. but he knew all this, which was why at the point her brain lost the ability to function on a conscious level he released her.
The only issue would have been the fact she may have had some issue with short term memory, so remembering that the large man had strangled her was pointless almost. As she sat up those eyes came open and he looked at her, offering a smile as he did so.
"Mm.. glad to see you are ok, nurse said you would be, but you know doctors opinions.. they can be wrong just as anything else can be. Before you start wrecking your brain with thoughts, I scooped up your out cold body from the hallway and brought you here to assess the damage, a good thing I should guess considering a few of the boys lingering about would have been more then willing to drag you off somewhere. Vespyr cringed nervously as the man spoke, her eyes flitting about the room, trying to assess her surroundings; this place was foriegn. Her sudden appearance here had her heart beating madly-- last she remembered she had tiredly removed her coat, setting the dirty black heap on the desk in her room before falling asleep on the grimy matress. Had she suddenly fallen ill in the night? Where was this? By what was this stranger referring to? He spoke as if the two were acquainted, yet she had no specific recollection of his face or the voice that rang out behind the eerie smile. Yet still, there were words on her tongue that madly longed to spring forth but she knew not of what they were. Focusing her wide gaze back to the tall man, she swallowed the urge. It slipped down to the back of her throat but clung there like a climber on a mountain, too brazen to loosen its hold.
Leap, kill, run... her gut was churning with mad instinct to escape! Here were the weak and dying, there was nothing to stop her from bolting through the nearest window with a piercing shatter; in less than an instant she could vanish. Still her body was frozen as the less-animalistic side of her brain wanted answers, so she remained seated with her knees drawn to her chest protectively. Her eyes bored into the other's with a fierce energy, that of a cornered animal. Her tongue with a forced docile tone betrayed the primal glint and she asked, "What is happening?"
The question, a conviently concise one, covered the complex of where, who, how, etc...

A nervous nature should have been no surprise, that is at least if the girl had any sort of instinct as to what he had been done, still Katsuri did not lie, that was the one thing, as he did not tell the girl he had not caused her predicament, hell, he had not even told her he saw someone else cause it, merely that she had ended up out cold.
"Mm..you will be here for most of the day, the nurse needs to ensure you did not suffer any brain damage,"
The male turned head, glancing to the people there, picking a target that looked like he was here for no other reason then to get out of class, and it caused him to wave his large hand, telling the boy to come over to him.. the idiot did as told and he clamped his hand on his shoulder hard enough that he got a wince and a cry.
"You want anything to eat or drink? Fred here is going to go fetch me some things."
He turned his face back to the girl, his innocent smile there even as Fred here was clenching at Katsuri's arm trying to get loose.. needless to say that boy would not be running off with the cash, as the whisper Katsuri had given him was enough that if he found the kid just looking at him would cause him to release his bowels all over the place, aka, shit himself for those a little more crude in nature. Just to get the point across that it was probably best she had something to stop the issues, maybe something cold to drink or hot to eat, his lips parted and that soft tone slipped out once more, as if trying to stroke across her flesh without fingers even being near.
"My treat of course, anything you want.."

The warily curious eyes widened further at the Man's words. No, surely he was confused, she had no brain damage, she was only dreaming... Yes, that's it. Of course, why hadn't she realized it before? Silly girl... Vespyr's shoulders slumped as the tension eased away and she closed her eyes for a moment, taking a big breath. She held it for several moments before letting it out slowly, the warm, foul-tasting air passing gently across her black cherry lips. Time to wake up...
Her eyes opened.
The Man was still there, as well as the fearful-looking boy whose arm looked near purple by now. Maybe if she kept him waiting a little longer the limb would just explode, blood spraying wildly like a smashed water balloon all over the foor of the bed... that would be fun. Just the sort of thing to happen in a good dream, eh? The girl chuckled viciously and shook her head in an indifferent manner as if to say "No thank you.." to the Man seated in the sofa. Her light gaze shifted to the window, falling blithely upon the numerous people that passed by it, their voices muted and expressions foreign like a silent movie. Many looked to be her age, clustered all in groups and chattering away, their words unknown. In fact, they all looked like teenagers...
Her head whipped to the opposite side, back to where the bloodied bodies lay hooked to the heartrate apparati and stared discerningly at them, judging, wieghing. This was like no other dream she had before... Who were these people? Where was this? Why had she imagined herself into such a horrible, bad-smelling ugly place with so many humans? She seemed to be perched in some sort of middle ground, between the thing she loved and what she hated; dreams often had funny ways of being figurative, like writing, only it seemed so much more real... Almost like it wasn't really her imagination at all.
A dull ache had begun to creep inconspicuously into Vespyr's throat, going unnoticed until she turned her head back to face the Man. It had begun to throb, and she instinctively raised a hand to feel the area as her eyebrow cocked in confusion. Immediately upon contact with the area, she flinched in shock and her hand fled the vicinity; her neck felt tender and bruised to the touch. Her eyes swam with intensifying confusion and met the Man's, and she grew more bitter with realization by each passing moment.
"This isn't a dream, is it?" she inquired quietly, raising her defenses again, the familiar prickly aura settling over her.

Katsuri only watched as those eyes on the little female opened wide, confused it seemed, as the very mention of brain damage. He had done more then he thought previously, as she did not seem to even remember fading slowly from the light of the hallway into the void of her own mind. Left wondering how one could forget that feeling, even if it had only been a short time ago, and at that a short time spent, as he had been there done that, quite a few times in the past.
The large man knew the situation far to well for his own liking actually, the feeling of his heart in his throat, throbbing so hard that his head had been rattling about. The feeling of blood pooling around your body, slowly fading away, those eyes getting heavy and unable to keep themselves open. There was only one thing he could admit about it, however, and that was he felt no dread.. no worry of the oncoming death, and yet despite this he found himself waking up days later in a hospital bed, wires and cords wrapped around his body keeping him alive.
It was amusing how life worked, as those who feared death with absolution often died sooner then those whom lived out of nothing else but spite for those who valued the thing.. was this girl one like himself? Uncaring.. or did she just have a will he had yet to find in anyone else? The questions were making his head reel, and quite frankly, he had to settle himself back into what he was doing.
He let go of the poor boy and would have sent him off with a simple wave of his hand, head turned just enough to watch the small male out of the corner of his eye as he disappeared from the room. It would have been a while before he got back, which was for the best it seemed, as that head of his turned back towards the girl, whom for all purposes could not realize the feeling of instinct kicking in was target at him.. good. A lick of his lips and he would have shrugged to her with a bit of a sigh slipping from those lips as well.
"No dream I am afraid, although I suspect the feeling you are going to have with all of it rushing into your skull would make a dream seem like a pleasant thing. "

Vespyr's eyes swept the perimeter of the room again, trying desperately to make sense of the predicament. The Man still hadn't answered her question, but she intended to answer it herself instead of ask again; she didn't fancy speaking with him, Nor did she have any more enthusiasm about staying here for very long...
Suddenly, a thought came bursting through the door of her mind from origins unknown-- School. It was obvious now, why hadn't she thought of it before? The clustered sweaty bodies of teenagers, the crowded hospital ward, creeps staring you down at every turn... the tell-tale signs that Vespyr felt inwardly silly for not realizing sooner. Her head turned once more to face the Man, her eyes now emotionless. He seemed to be hiding something, she could feel it in his gaze-- the way he stared so intently, whilst settled comfortably in his seat, his muscles relaxed while his eyes held tightly on her.
With a sigh, Vespyr shook her head and swung her legs over the side of the matress with finesse. She strode silently around the Man's chair and toward the door, wrinkling her nose at the stench of chemicals and clean as she passed by the nurse's table. A student was hunched with pain at the desk, telephone in hand, holding the object tightly to his skull and whimpering into it like a child as the woman in white lethargically typed something into her outdated computer. As Vespyr passed, she noticed a pile of books on the table-- the title of one was peeking playfully at her from beneath the others, half-covered but exposed enough to grab a hold of her attention like a rider yanking harshly on reins of his reeling steed. She paused, snatching the textbook in an instant, holding the thing before her lovingly as a smile crept across her pale face. Just what I was looking for...
"Hey, w-what are you doing?" came a frail voice from beyond Vespyr's circle of concentration, causing her to break from her excitement and glance up at a sallow-looking boy. Tears were streaming down his face and dripping from the sticky telephone that he held in his hand. The other hand was reaching out for the textbook, but Vespyr stopped it with a swift downward blow from the object, at which the student keeled over and clutched the wounded arm to his chest. With an indignant growl, she whirled toward the door but stopped- Just what I was looking for?
She turned back, her eyes falling forebodingly upon the Man. The man. His hand. Her neck. The hallway... Vespyr understood now, as the memories raced back to her and mingled in with the rest like children lost on a field trip. A chasm opened in her stomach at the thought of it. She wanted to turn and go, for after all, she had retrieved the item which she came here for... but her feet felt rooted into the ground, strong tendrils of presentiment holding her fast where she stood.
(ooc: ughhh suuuucks... sorry.)

Rising from her bed had not gained any further attention from the large man then she had held before hand. Those white eyes turned, following her until she reached the corner of his vision, at which point his detection of the girl was left largely up to his ears, and memory of the room around them.
Still, the sounds of her performing things that were less then kosher with the nurse, would have gotten the woman to raise up, getting ready to put a bit of hurtin' on Vespyr, until the large man slipped up from his seat. He and the nurse of 259 had gone round and round, particularly since with Layla gone he did not listen too well to the new one, but either way, she had some sense of respect given they had torn each other apart in the past.
"Mm.. that won't do."
Turning around to the girl, she would have looked as if she were glued into her spot, those feet locked in self realization, or perhaps fear.. it was hard to determine the difference between the two sometimes.
Katsuri walked towards her, stopping just arms length away, those hands at his sides, and a rather amused grin on his lips. What was he going to tell her? The options were quite unlimited, and yet he refrained from doing anything that would be above a simple smirk, hand slipping up, moving beside her, aiming to softly stroke down her cheek.
"Get back in bed.. lest you do something you will regret. "
Referring to himself, and the soft stroking he had against her cheek that was quite capable of turning violent at the drop of a hat. After all, he did care if the girl had brain damage or not, but he also did not want to have to put her in check.

Vespyr's eyes followed the Man with contempt as he came toward her, now that she remembered their little encounter in the hallway and how he had so obtrusively made his statement. As if she did not feel enough antipathy toward him already, he insisted on commanding her about like a child of his own. This wouldn't do. Vespyr eyed him with visible repugnance as he spoke, letting the hand graze her cold cheek with no other reaction but a flinch at the warmth of his touch. She allowed the gesture to go 'unpunished', though it was difficult to hold back from her usual malicious retort of claws, and simply let her deep violet orbs, the colour of slick poison, do the violence.
If looks could kill, he would be sliced and slain and his blood would flow like wine from each gaping... yes, certainly he would be beyond pain. A taste of his own cheap medicine with the added punch of cyanide to do the trick.
Her head tilted to the side a bit, eyes still locked intensly with his, and she concisely shook her head. Negatory, sir.
Without a word, she turned on her heel and glided from the room, the tail of her black coat the last fleeting glimpse of her in the doorway for an instant. Once gone from his sight, her eyes danced through the hall in search of an exit; it was like a maze in here, office drones hobbling about in their strict pencil skirts and slacks. Their faces were boxy and aged with stress, marked with lines that connected each feature in the crudest, most monotonous manner. Vespyr wondered what the hell they were doing here at all: they looked so dissatisfied and jaded yet they dutifully filed papers and diligently made calls and toiled in their cubes for hours a day.
Why people put themselves under such awful circumstances, fitting the cuffs on their own wrists and chaining themselves to their minute deskspace in the belly of America... something Vespyr, free from societal ties and as carefree as the nightwinds, would never be able to comprehend. With a heavy sigh of contempt, she headed in the direction of the door at the end the hall marked EXIT. Light shone like an omen of hope from the tiny glass pane in the door, the natural softness of it harshly drowned by the surrounding flourescent buzz of the office bulbs.
Ten more steps and I'm free...

Freedom was just not on the agenda today it seemed, poor girl, had no idea what sort of lunatic she had come in contact with. The question was, at what end of the pool had his mind dived from, the deep end, or the shallow water where body parts were safe. White eyes were moving, up and down, all around, gazing over her entire form, looking for any excuse to snap forwards, after all, he wanted her to bring her intentions to the forefront. Instead though, it was looking like Vespyr was just going to sit there, those eyes trying to jab something sharp and pointy into the area in-between his last and second to last rib, and then again in his chest.. and again in his neck.. and again.. and again.
Slicing and dicing was she? Well. Her gaze was matched for only a second before she turned to flee, the large man standing there watching as she went. Guess what happened next though? No sooner then she had thought she was out and free, just a little bit up the hall, those loud, massive feet, were upon her. Click. Clack. Click. Clack. The succession of each step was getting a little fast as each one fell, and no doubt the girl could feel the eight foot man breathing on her as he grew near.
That was just it though, as he had unlatched the gate, and now IT was out. “ORAAAAAAA!” This was her only warning as the large man would have spun around, his body flailing slightly in an over exaggerated manner, this as his right leg came up off the ground and aimed to slam it into her hip. The force from the blow was immense, in such a realm because he had gone off his rocker and sacrificed balance and logic in order to let his instincts run free. The hit he had launched to her hip, if it were dodged or taken, would have come to the same end result.
The man spinning around in a ballet like fashion, but much more sloppy, and turning the thing into a cartwheel, aiming to send himself airborne, those size thirty sixes ripping through the flimsy ceiling they used to cover up the concrete a good two foot or so above it, into pieces. This motion was so he could try to bring that large foot, the same one chainsawing through the roof, down onto her, aiming to destroy the poor girl.. he’d lost his marbles again. Somebody would have to find um.

Seven steps away from the holy glowing EXIT sign, Vespyr was aware of rushed footsteps at her back- with a growl of distaste, she whirled- suddenly, an immense shape was upon her and she instinctively jumped, but felt the crushing blow from the giant's foot hurtle into her thigh. The girl was hurled backward, her sharp teeth cleched as white hot pain throbbed from her leg and shook her whole body- the kind of intense pain that was so concentrated that it felt numb, like the nerves had been jolted into overdrive and abandoned the project completely. The only way she could tell her leg was even there was the waves of pain radiating through the rest of her frail body, everything but the wounded area itself.
As she hit the ground with a grunt, her hands darted outward like a startled reptile on the run, and she made to rise swiftly without a glance at the sticken appendage, making use of every second to escape...
The office drones were shrieking, scuttling fearfully from the scene through a flurry of unsettled papers and bits of cieling- dust was cascading from the roof where it had been torn gaping- the Man's cacaphonous and ear plitting roar was throbbing in her ears and her body rattled as she stood- not a moment to lose. Vespyr lurched forward and bolted, ignoring whatever injuries might be screaming in her lower half;for if she stopped to think of them now there may be no more thinking ever. Her boots pounded the ground as she ran toward the EXIT, one after the other, breathless.
Vespyr's body crashed into the heavy metal door, and with all her strength she heaved it open and was blinded by sunlight- but still she ran, her heart pounding fiercely in her throat.

The girl had taken the blow and gotten up from where she was.. but then she fled. The large man was tempted to go after her, those lips of his perking up into a grin at the thought of decimating her body, and yet.. she had run away from the fight, and tried to several more times in the past.
"So thats what it is.. afraid to die." That of course, was aimed at himself, and would have rolled off the tongue quite smoothly, if a little quiet in tone. A shake of his head and a roll of his shoulders and he would have washed his hands of it, knowing he would meet her again sometime in the future, as thus, he commented on it, completely out in the open and to himself. "We'll see how well you fair on the next of our meetings.."
