The clattering of hard wheels on a cement sidewalk was more than common around a certain purple and blonde punk. As he rode past a tall metal fence, his new school was coming into view. Four main buildings, a few holes where walls were supposed to be, and students all over the place. Just another school in south Cali. For the skateboarder, the only thing that California was good for was skating and checking out girls on the beach. Everything else sucked. The weather was too hot, not enough rain, everyone thought they were the shit, and all the girls were air-heads. Not to mention that the school didn't look like the place it claimed to be. False advertising, just another one of those damn annoyances.
Stepping off the old-looking board, he stood right in front of the entrance gate. Yeah, just another piece of shit school with nothing to offer a kid like him. Stomping on the rear lip of the board, it sprung off the sidewalk, making the front lip jump right into his ready hand. With a simple, pre-practiced motion, the board was pushed through the elastic loops on the face of his backpack. Certainly, a skateboard couldn't be too odd of a sight. And there was no way it was getting confinscated without blood being spilled.
"I'm sick of this place already..." He scoffed at the thought of spending four whole years around this place.

OOC: Hope you don't mind me posting ^^
School, school, school. That's all her sisters ever talked about these days, telling her not to procastinate on her homework - which was easier said then done, by the way - telling her tips on how to avoid trouble from the teachers and such. Blah. Two of her sisters continued to blab away inside the car and Jenesis barely paid any attention, her focus really mainly placed out the window, watching blurry objects pass by. She was starting to hate school, and the publicity that she was recieving because of her wings, and wanted to go back to her rightful home in the state of Oregon where the people were the only people in her basement, and everyone else just didn't care. She wanted to be in that white lab again, with her parents and other step brothers and sisters. But she didn't see that happening.
"We're here! Have a good day at school, Jenesis!!!" Yeah, right. Stepping out of the car before giving a wave, she had a small frown on her face as a couple of people stopped to look at Jenesis, who was wearing a green summer dress, with a one strap backpack so it wouldn't crush her wings. Giving a heavy, yet small sigh, Jenesis began walking towards the building she had to go to for class, until she was stopped by some random person. She had to tilt her head slightly to see who it was, then decided to just go around him. Her sisters said to avoid trouble, so that was what she was doing. Walking away, her blonde hair put into two high pigtails, the barcode on the back of her neck clearly visible. "0JEX666..." The boy said aloud, which Jenesis ignored and went on her way. People around her whispered quietly amongst themselves about her, and other people just spoke outloud, not caring if she heard them or not.
Continuing her little journey to class, her wing seemed to have brushed past someone with a black looking thing and wheels (skateboard), and she immediately turned around and apologized once she was a good four or five feet away. "Sorry...!" An apologetic look was placed on her face, then a frown as she held onto her wings. Why did her parents send her here? Ackkk...

((OOC: Hey, no probs. I only leave a tag on my titles if I've intended to have the thread be reserved. BTW, I read over your profile and noticed the name Ezra as one of your sisters. That kinda wierded me out for a second because one of the common names I use in RP is Ezra... XP ))
A bump. There were usually only three explainations for that action. One was purely accidental in a crowded or low-visibility situation. The second was for steling wallets. Thanks to the chain, Atticus had no worries of that happening. And three, somebody was trying to start something. But when he saw it was a little girl with wings, he had to re-think his initial suspicion and realize that it was just a "oversized load" accident. But that brought up question number two; what was a girl doing wearing wings to school, especially ones as solid as those? It was like they were metal or something. Sure, they gave way, but it didn't feel like feathers, it felt like a stiff board had collided with him.
"Just keep those things in check." Atticus sighed. Wing collisions happened a lot in anime conventions, because people weren't used to having the wider backside. "And you might not want to wear those to school, they'll probably get broken in the middle of the crowded halls. Which brings up the question; Why are you wearing those things? School isn't the place for cosplay." Normally, he'd probably have bitched a little more, and actually taken a harsh tone, but seeing as how it was just some small girl, he didn't want to cause a scene by making her cry. Instead, he just sounded irritated, and a little bit curious. It was only natural to be at the sight of her.

Cosplay? Keep these wings in check? Jenesis stared at the boy for a minute, having absolutely no idea what he was talking about. A completely confused look was placed on her face as she looked back at the boy. Not wear these wings? What did he want her to do, rip 'em off her skin?! She blinked twice before she turned her head towards her wings. He seemed a bit annoyed by her, but she didn't mind. That's how her parents spoke to her, and she learned to live with it. She turned around to show the boy and tugged on the wings, showing him that it was a part of her. "These are permanant, sir..." When she turned around, the bar code on her neck would be visible because her hair was split into two high pigtails, and the numbers and letters would be visible, the black ink inscribed on her skin: 0JEX666
"And if you don't mind me asking... What is this cosplay you speak of?" She turned back around and faced the boy. So many things confused her, things that her parents didn't bother telling her about. Was this all part of some test?...
OOC: xD Well, that's cool ^^ Sorry 'bout the late reply. I forgot that this thread was inside school... I kept checking the Long Beach CA @@;;... Oh, and I won't be on tomorrow because I'm going to the sand dunes, so I'll reply on Tuesday? xP

Permanent? What the h*ll is she talking about? When she tugged on the wings, they seemed set pretty damn well. And the barcode on the back of her neck was pretty creepy too. It all seemed way too anime-riffic to him. But how a little girl like that couldn't realize that she was excessively screwed up was beyond him. Maybe somebody was playing with her head, making her believe something that wasn't true. The barcode itself was suspoicious enough. Maybe she was supposed to be tracked as she interacted. Maybe some sort of social experiment or something. He had just never herd of one so... Warped...
"Uh..." The sight of the oddness had really thrown him for a loop. "Cosplay... It's like dressing up for Halloween, but instead just doing it at a convention or something, where you dress up as a favorite TV or game character." With a few confused shakes of the head, he got his mind back on track. "But still! This is way to sci-fi for me? Whoever raised you... Or maybe manufactured, whatever... Is really messed up... Who the h*ll grafts wings to their children? You're not some sort of android from Japan are you? What's the deal?"
((OOC: No probs, look forward to your reply. Have fun at the dunes!))

She was more confused then ever. Game? Halloween? And what the hell is an android? A blank and confused look came from Jenesis as she felt her head spin just a bit. Was the public really this confusing? Why hadn't her parents told her any of this? For her protection, maybe? "And...roid...? Oh jeez... My parents raised me...messed up...?" She blinked twice and shook her head. All this information was giving her a slight headache. "What's Halloween?" The little brain of hers was filled with unanswered questions that she was curious about. She was a faerie, but when she said that to her classmates, they laughed. Perhaps it was a good idea not to tell anyone else, either, but her parents told her... Actually, her parents told her a lot of things. Half of which she doesn't even remember!
Jenesis squinted her eyes a bit and puffed out one of her cheeks. "My parents raised me just fine... They're really smart people!..." They were. They said their job was meant for smart people. Ack... She bit her lip. She remembered she wasn't supposed to give out a lot of information, so she would have to choose her words carefully...

This had to be some sort of joke. For anyone to be unable to know what Halloween was... It was unthinkable really. She spoke too fluently to have been raised in a foreign country without english as it's main language, so it was hard to imagine why she hadn't heard of much of this stuff. And she seemed genuinely clueless too. Something about her just made him want to make sure she turned out alright. So with a heavy sigh, he resided that he'd have a lot of work to do if he were going to cure her lack of worldly knowlege. But to not even know what an android was... The complexity of the case was getting to him already.
"Look, I'm sure they're smart people, in their own way... But there are two very disctinct kinds of smart out there. One is academic. You should know that well. It's things like math and grammar, scientific theory and historical events. Then there's practical knowledge, known to some as street smarts. Your parents seemed to have relied too heavily on the academic side. So I've got an idea..." Atticus mumbled to himself, unsure of why he was even considering this. "How about we spend time together after school or something so that I can teach you some of the things your parents left out?"
"What do you say? There's a world out there that your parents can't show you. An infinite amount of knowledge that nobody can fully absorb. I can help you learn some of it though. Maybe... Even I can learn something too..."

A smile grew on her face when he mentioned about meeting after school so he can give her more information about the human world. She was excited, of course, not only because of the information she would acquire, but because of the time she would spend with her new friend!... He... was her new friend, right? Either way, even if he didn't really like her, or considered her more of an aquaintence more than a friend, she couldn't help but ask something. It was just something she did - if something caught her curiousity, she asked, no doubt 'bout that! "Does that mean we're friends?" Her voice etched with curiousity, her eyes blinking twice, her genuine smile still on her face. She wondered. Was Halloween a day where you greeted people by saying "hallo" instead of "hello"? But then what would the -ween part mean? And androids! That sounded as if it were some kind of medication! She remembered seeing a lot of bottles called "tabloids", so maybe androids were just different types of medication for different types of people? OOC: Sorry, short post... >>;;... I'm feelin' rather short today

((OOC: No probs... you just got done chilling at the dunes!))
A grand mental explosion happened as soo as the little girl asked just one innocent question. Does that mean we're friends? What kind of silly question was that? Of course they weren't. How long ago was it that they met? A few minutes really? He was surprised that he had even allowed himself to suggest that they hang out together after school. Maybe he'd just call it off and get out of there. She wasn't his problem, after all. But the thing inside his head called a conscience was getting to the point where it was nagging him. With a mental sigh, he let the conscience win, for now.
"Well... Close enough..." Atticus sighed, like he had just given up. " She was such a happy little girl. He had to wonder if it was right to spoil her delusion she called the world, and show her the truth. Questions of morals were popping up in his head, not exactly the things he wanted to have to answer. This was something that needed to be done. After all, whoever had done that to her was in direct violation of childrens rights laws. And he was interested in meeting the people who were so cruel as to create a girl like her. "But... It's hard to be friends when we don't know each other's names... I am Atticus."

Atticus? A brighter smile lifted onto her face as the young blonde haired girl looked around once again, when she heard those bells, signaling that school was to start. It bothered her - just where did that noise come from?!!? She looked back at Atticus and gave a small childish grin. "Bye Atticus! Jenesis was pleased to meet you, and Jenesis will see you later today!" With a wave and a smile, the girl with the faerie like wings jumped up and flew away walked into Building 2, floor C and in room 29. English Literature. Fun class, yes? Taking her seat in the back row, she was excited about the meeting she would have later today to acquire information that she had not know of yet.
She just hoped that her sisters wouldn't mind.

If this were anime, Atticus would have fallen on the ground with his legs sticking straight up, and a cloud of dust rising from his fallen body. Of perhaps just a giant sweatdrop would have appeared on the back of his head. And it would all be caused by just one thing; Genesis talking in third person. Normally the sign of a luntaic, it all but confirmed that her problem was way over his head. Third person... And the funky name. Genesis was the beginning according to Christian lore. Kids were cruel, and he was one of them, so he knew she was gong to be catching some major flak for her parents style of upbrining.
With a sigh, he started walking towards his first class; Psychology. Maybe he'd actually learn something there. Or not. But the little girl with the big problem was going to be stuck in his mind all day. And not for the reason girls were normally stuck in his head. Not to mention he was going to need a lesson plan.

-- AFTER SCHOOL --
The final bell rang that signaled school was officially over for the day, and she picked up her books and slipped them in their bag, a tired expression on her face as she slung her bag over her shoulder, careful with her wings as she dragged her tired feet across the floor. She was the last one to leave, because she didn't feel like running into anyone accidentally, nor did she feel like taking all the foul language that came out of their mouth. Or what Jenesis called it, "colorful words". Stepping into the hallways of Public High School 259, the young girl who thought she was a faerie stepped out of the twin doors of the school, stepping onto the cement pavement feeling the wave of heat wash over her. Her eyes looked to the spot she was this morning, and almost immediately, a smile was put on her face. She had nearly forgotten about the meeting she had with Atticus!
Walking happily to the spot and forgetting most of her troubles, the girl stood waiting patiently for her friend to show up while others gave her odd looks about her appearence. She didn't mind though, no, she really didn't. If they had a problem with her, they should just deal with it. "They laugh at me because I'm diifferent. I laugh at them because they're all the same... Funny... Jenesis doesn't remember who said that..." A puzzled look carried on her face as she shrugged that thought off. She'd remember sooner or later.

Atticus rolled as many jooints on his body as he could. His shoulders, neck, elbows. All of them, one by one. The day had been hectic, and he had finally established himself by the end of the day. Nobody liked him, he was loud, arrogant, and a total weakling. Now that he had established such an image, everyone hated him, they avoided him by instinct. That way, he wouldn't have to deal with all those annoying people, that way, he wouldn't have to deal with separation from those he liked. Separation from those he didn't care about was much easier to deal with. In fact, he didn't need to deal with it at all, it was what he wanted. All it caused him was a body that wa going to be extremely sore the next day. He was getting what he was paying for, so he was happy enough with that.
Wings.
When he saw those, Atticus nearly "sh*t a brick" as the expression went. All that trouble, all that effort, and to end up having to deal with a crazy girl. But it was esy enough to remedy that situation, he just had to run the other way, avoid her. She'd get the hint. As soon as he began to turn away, he began feeling a nagging sensation in the front of his mind. He growled, knowing exactly what whas going on. His conscience was getting the better of him in this case. And when that happened, he knew the outcome...
---Thirty seconds later---
"Hey. Genesis, right?" Atticus spoke with a light tone from behind her. Light, as in not condescending, just kind of 'normal'.

Hearing a voice behind her, she turned around to find Atticus! A light smile played on her face as she nodded her head, rubbing the side of her sore neck with her right hand as she gave a sort of a childish grin. "Yeap... So about androids and halloween..." She started off, standing still as the wind blew about and brushed her two pigtails, making them flow gently behind her, her bangs swaying side to side. "What exactly are they?" Well, you couldn't blame her for being curious. She wanted to compare his answer to her hypothesis. It was sort of like a little game, only she guessed everytime he answered something, more questions would progress in her mind.

Atticus sat down on the steps leading to the school, not wanting to be standing through the entire onslaught of questions. If he had estimated her right, she'd have asked a million questions by the end of the half-hour. She certainly seemed hyper enough to be able to do so.
"Sit down if you want. There's a lot to teach." He waited for her to respond in some way before beginning.
"We'll start with androids. Think of it as a machine that looks exactly like a human on the outside, but is really just all gears and batteries. You should know what a robot is. An android is just a very human-looking robot." With a little pause, he waited for questions. "Now Halloween is a big event around this country. You see, all the kids wear costumes in an effort to look scary, or sometimes just really cute in the case of little girls. Then, they go from door to door, greeting the people with the words 'Trick or Treat'. Then the adults at the house give the kids candy. It's a lot of fun if you're young. But there are also people out there doing tricks, mainly people my age. We spray people with silly string, which is just this weird stingy stuff in a can, or sneak up behind people and yell 'Boo!' to scare them."
