"Don't go getting your panties in a knot. I was asking. No harm in that. As for why? Cause I can." the girl said.
Drea frowned. Was that her way of saying she hadn't meant to be offensive? She could already foretell that this girl would likely get into a few fights here and again over her provocative word choice.
Serenity shifted, and Drea simply observed. She wondered what the girl would do or say now.
After a pause, the girl held out a hand. "We got off on the wrong foot. I shall refrain from making assumptions for the most part. Though it is hard because you leave your words open to a lot of interpretation."
Then: "I am Ren. Nice to meet you."
Drea took the hand and shook it.
"Nice to meet you, Ren." she said warmly. "And it's easier to let people think what they want. I've been in a bit of a touchy mood lately myself, so it's likely more my fault than yours. For that I apologize. I typically don't go off on people for drawing their own conclusions."
Which was true. She liked to let people think what they wanted, whether it was right or wrong. It made more room for her to make her own moves, after all, not unlike a chess game. It was rare that she reacted so strongly or so negatively to a person's queries.

Fights? Probably. Though only time would tell. For now however she would just laugh lightly and draw her hand back once it was released. Shaking her head to the girl's words.
Nah, don't worry about it. I tend to have that affect on people. Not that it bothers me. No need to appologize. I am like this all the time. So if you can get away with only doing it sometimes, then great for you.
She nodded and then sighed softly, reaching into her pocket and pulling out her pack of cigs again, once moer placing one in her lips and lighting it up.
So, you said something about a guy named Gabriel being Captain of the school. What is he like?
Yeah, somebody of such social standing in the school system would be of importance when trying to remain out of the eyes of people who may get her into trouble. For all she knew that guy could be some goody goody teachers pet. She was new after all.

Drea nodded in acknowledgment of the words. "I'll do my best, then." she said, almost cheerfully.
"So, you said something about a guy named Gabriel being Captain of the school. What is he like?" Ren asked.
Drea shook her head. "I don't actually know, but it seems like the students are split between liking and disliking him. I know Emily, David, and Katsuri don't necessarily agree with him, so it's really a toss up. He says he does things for the students, but he's also got quite a crew of people that basically work as his peons."
She shrugged. "But, as I said, I don't actually know the guy, so it's better to get your own observations on that."

She nodded, mentally adding this Gabriel to her list of people to meet. After all, she could not gain her own conclusions if she did not know the guy. Okay, so she could. But when everyone was so split on their opinions of him it would make it hard.
Better to just go to the source. But for now she would let that little bit of information settle and then begin her quest for more. It was all in the interest of her greater good.
Okay, thanks. I will have to try and meet the guy. So, I am guessing that this school bases social standing on how hard you can hit? Should be interesting. Though a power stuggle in a school is something I find rather funny myself. I mean come on. It is just highschool.
It was the truth. She did not see the point. At least not yet. But then she had only been here for like........a day. Heh. Taking another drag off her cig she flicked the ashes off to the side of the table. Her arms once more resting on her knees as she leaned slightly forward.
So, who is the strongest person here? I am guessing it could be that Gabriel guy, but then, smart and tough are two different things. Combine them and that is where you get leaders. So I am guessing there is somebody out there tougher but who does not possess the motivation to be a leader. Am I wrong?

Drea nodded, grinning a bit despite herself. "Which is what makes the whole thing so interesting. People have become so obsessed with the concept of strength, titles, and standing that they've forgotten that in just a couple of years, none of it will matter."
"So, who is the strongest person here? I am guessing it could be that Gabriel guy, but then, smart and tough are two different things. Combine them and that is where you get leaders. Drea sighed. "I don't know. There's plenty that are smart and strong, but with intelligence comes the understanding that power isn't everything. I know Emily would've turned down the position of Student Council President if not for the fact that she supported David when he was School Captain, but at the same time, she doesn't really want to be in positions of power. Power can change people, and I think those that are smart realize and fear that."
She paused for a moment. "Then again, there are the ones that believe they can lead and lead properly, so it's a matter of who stands behind who. In terms of strength, connections and brains, I'd have to say that David's the strongest. Gabriel makes for a close second, but I can't condone his strength because he didn't gain his position in the traditional manner."
That was something everyone knew. After all, it had been announced and everything.

She listened to it all. Nodding when it was required. Hm. So David was the strongest in this girl's eyes and yet Gabriel was in power. She would have to ask around about that little situation. It could prove interesting. As the girl finished she would smile, her head shaking slightly as she thought over everything that had just been said to her.
Hmm. Well it does sound like things have gotten out of control around here. I mean yeah, here in a few years we will be leaving.
But at the same time. It is what we do today that sets the tone for those in the future. Maybe that is what this Gabriel guy is out to do.
Ren shrugged softly. She really did not know, but she intended to find out. Not that it mattered to her either way. She was funny that way. She could argue both sides of an issue and in the end not give a damn what it was about. This being such a time. Finishing her cig she would toss it over the edge of the roof. Exhaling that last lovely drag before letting her eyes close for a brief moment.
So, this place is like a government in chaos huh? Interesting to say the least. I will have to remember that. But it does raise a point that I am starting to see it as being increasingly difficult to actually get into trouble around here. Seems that everyone is so caught up in themselves they dont pay attention to the world around them.
No offense or anything.
Yeah, that last line leaving a bad taste in her mouth. But like stated before, she needed to play nice right now. And so, she would make sure that her words did not offend or whatever the hell they seemed to do to people. It would do no good to make enemies on the first day right?

Drea shrugged at the other girl's words. She was right, and Drea conceded that. It was something she'd already known, after all.
"You're right about that. It's less of a school and more of a society." she said, "Which typically makes life difficult for everyone else in the damned school that actually came to study. Not that there's many..."
Drea sighed.
"People get caught up in themselves easily here, so it's rare to find people that take an outside view. Because things are dangerous, the stakes are higher, and the relationships you build are stronger. To hate someone is to hate them. It's not the same as the hate that was really just loathing in middle school. Love is the same way. Love is love, and not the other word for like."
She shook her head.
"But because of that, the lines blur and there's basically alliances and circles that interfere with each other all the time. The problem is, the ones that are most involved are typically the guys that have the most power. The result? Boom. Chaos, explosion - yadda, yadda, yadda."
"It's too bad. It'd be nice to return everything to nothing just once to see what happened." Drea said this in a somewhat liquid voice, leaving the meaning behind that up to Ren to decipher.

No matter what time and place you return something to, the outcome will be the same. People do not change. Sure, they may pretend to, but their very nature stays the same.
Men are men for example. Dress them up in fancy suits and parade them around. Have then be as nice as nice can be, but deep down they are all still animals.
They view things in a very primative way. "That is mine" "My territory" "My mate" "My pack"
They grow agressive when they are threatened, the alpha male in them coming out.
In the end..I am sure that this whole power struggle is nothing more than a bunch of males who each think themself the best fighting for a spot as alpha male of the pack.
She rolled her eyes. That right there was the reason that she stayed away from relationships with men. They were a pain in the ass when they wanted to be, which seemed to be all the time.
They made great friends. Better than 98% of the female population and they were fun to play with from time to time. But in the relationship department they were lacking. She had her share of men, well, boys really. But the concept was still the same. They just had not matured enough to perfect the animal traits.
But don't get me wrong. Women are the same way. We say we love a guy, but in the end we are looking at him as the best possible mate to produce healthy, strong and attractive offspring.
We are born to reproduce. The rest is just a side goal. Something we have to achieve to make ourselves more presentable to the opposite sex. The prettier the girl and the nicer she is, the smarter she is, the more likely she is to attract a mate.
She shook her head, laughing softly as she drew in a deep breath. She had a lot of opinions on everything. Sometimes letting them get the best of her and rambling on about them.
Yeah, that is how I see it though. Got a bit off topic but that is just what came to mind and I am always one to speak my mind.
Not an apology persay, but the closest thing one could hope to get out of Ren.

Drea listened quietly to Serenity's spiel on men, women, and the stupidity involved with both genders. She didn't agree with the girl, but nor did she disagree, remaining neutral for the most part.
After all, to each his - in this case, her - own, right?
"Men are men, women are women." Drea shrugged, not wanting to get into a debate over the whole thing during her study period. "The purpose of life is to breed, as you said, before you die. That's all there is to it. You can face it or run from it, but you have to acknowledge it either way."
{Gawd, it's a short post. X___x}

She would listen, as per usual for her. Though she could tell that her views were not exactly shared. Oh well. She was not here to impress people. It was the last thing on her mind. No, she was simply stating her point of the matter.
Sighing softly she would run her tongue over her lips, her hands clasping together as she looked about the roof. Okay, this spot had stayed quite calm for awhile now. Which meant that it was indeed a good place to hide out when you wanted to get away or when you wanted to do something that most people would frown upon.
Yes, she had some rather crude thoughts running through her mind right about now. But hey, men did it all the time. Why couldn't she?
So tell me, what are your views on the matters at hand here in the school? I mean, what do you think it all boils down to?
She did so love a good conversation, even if she did not really get the point of worrying about the topic at hand. But meh, gave her something to do right?

"So tell me, what are your views on the matters at hand here in the school? I mean, what do you think it all boils down to?" Ren asked her.
Drea frowned at the question. What did it all boil down to? Immediately, an answer came to mind:
"Stupidity: the need to be recognized and revered." she said. "As you said, they feel the need to measure their dicks and see whose is bigger. It's just one big major ego trip. If you cut off their power, you take away a part of who they are. That's how bad it's gotten. They've become addicted to what they themselves turned to, but hate the whole system - which they are married to. It's a bunch of stupidity."
She was being a bit more blunt and expressive than usual. Seems like her time with the others - and at the school - was rubbing off on her personality.

She laughed. Hard. It was sooo true, that it was funny. Her hand coming out and resting on Rea shoulder she would draw in a deep breath to calm herself and then nod.
I think I am going to like you Rea. That has to be the best answer to a question I have ever heard. It is sad that it is probably very very true, but it is still funny as shit.
She shook her head then, pulling her hand back and letting her head fall back enough so that her gaze was cast to the sky.
So basically we have a bunch of man whores for power running around trying to have an orgasm from taking each other on?
Sounds about right. Men are usually like that, though this place seems to have it worse than any other I have been in before.

Drea was surprised at the sudden burst of laughter, and remained still as the girl used her as a support to regain her breathe.
Listening to Ren's words, Drea found that Ren was... entertained by her. Well, that was all well and good - she didn't particularly care. Listening to her, though, Drea was reminded of another person, though she couldn't think of why.
After all, Kevala and Ren didn't seem so alike... But in personality... Well, Ren was louder and more obvious about it, but they both seemed to have a 'fuck you!' attitude about most things. Life, even. Admittedly, Kevala was much quieter and much more discreet about it, but it was still... that underlying personality was there.

Well, Ren did not know whom it was that she was being compared to. Nor did she know that she was. But on a side note, it is important to point out that if she did know of Kevala it would be clear that though the two of them shared certain, similar characteristics, there were a lot of differences between the two. One was the manner in which Kevala would alter herself to the person she was talking with. Ren did now. Kevala would be a spoiled brat, while Ren was not. So though the two SEEMED to be the same, and the writing style the mun uses is the same, it does not mean that they are the same in any way shape of form.
Both girls being their own unique person. But that of course is a big IF on Ren knowing any of this. As it stood, she would finally fall silent looking up at the sky and letting out a soft sigh once more.

Drea sighed peacefully as the other girl fell quiet. She was shaken from her quiet, though, when the bell rang. " Darn it! I didn't get anything done!" she cried out, appalled. Quickly, she got to her feet and gathered her things. " It was nice talking to you, Ren," she said quickly, " But I've got to run if I don't want to be late! You should head to class, too!" And with that, she headed for the door, and echoes of " I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!" could be heard coming up the stairwell. {OOC: <3 Later~! Gonna go to bed soon. }
