All We Know
The halls were silent, the school was dead, it was the weekend. Living in a world of her own, it always seemed that she was the last to find out about things. A black phone given by the gang leader remained silent always, was it still around. There was a certain fear that held her back from calling, contacting them out of the blue; it was uncalled for. They'd call her, if ever the occasion arose that they needed her, it was boring waiting.
School for the week had been hectic, people talking about things; it was never interesting. Gossip was not very good, probably something best left ignored. The passage of time brings people through the doors, new faces appear and disappear in an instant; eerie how not many stick around. Also with time, old faces leave, it's noticeable at first, but as things progress, its just normal. Empty spaces and forgotten names, all par for the course of the Public High School System.
Fleeing danger, transferring schools.
Faces once so familiar have all but disappeared, leaving broken memories in the wake. The voices in the halls die down from time to time, but its not very long before they start up again. Violence ensues in the school, so those who have gone are not missed for long; or at least it is not spoken aloud. Not everyone that disappears leaves forever. There are those who have grown attached to the school and all that it stands for, fighting for righteousness and a brighter future for those who belong to it. It's really amazing, so to say, that there are those who care. People who haven't given up on the youth of the time, believing something rotting from the inside out..it could be saved.
Countless times had something threatened the school, people had gone to crush it. Windows broken and bodies dropped from floors above the ground. Injured sent off to the hospital with horrible wounds, those lingering between life and death. The real question is, how could it stay open so long? Shouldn't it have gotten shut down?
The chilled breeze pushed its way west, the rustling of trees and the eerie creak of the abandoned swings in the park, along side with the distant passing of a car. It was late at night, the perfect time to wander about, of course many would be fast asleep. You could only assume they would be, although given the time of the week, the odd rambling group of drunks was not uncommon.
The bittersweet symphony of the night.
Voices, laughter, rustling of leaves and paper, passing cars, creaking of gates caught in the wind, and the almost eerie footsteps from those that prowled the night. Reoccurring sounds that filled and broke the silent nights, leaving some with a sense of confusion and fears, whilst others enjoyed it. The feeling knowing you were there, the sounds that brought those awake a sense of life. Since silence can eat away at a person after a while. She was thankful for the evening song, giving her something to follow. Leading her down strange and confusing area. Always bringing a person to face something new.
The city was dying, the people always seemed to be in danger. Mafia influence, gang conflict, random acts of violence, and of course... Drowning in its own sins. Those fighting for justice the normal way, those that seek to purify the city and cleanse it of all things bad... So to say. There are always people fighting for something, doing it in their own way. Which might not always be the right way. No matter how much they believe they are doing good, there is always another group trying to do the same. Even some under the banner of good, they fight, revealing dark intentions later. Twisted ideas, things gained with unspeakable conciquences... It seems everyone wishes to fight for the future of their school... To make things better.
How pointless... it'll only last until they graduate... Maybe not even that long. After all the flow of transfers are like the sands of an hour glass. The time of trouble ends, until someone turns it over once again. Releasing the sad and bringing back all they fought against. How can they wish for something that is so unstable.Although, there were times when she wondered why she went along with it. After all, believing peace was unstable and disagreeing with the ideals of all those who raised a fist against the current of the dance. Yet, she too offered on many different occasions to help... Change the school. Baffling only to a degree. Like everyone who decided to fight in order to protect someone... She too had someone... Some people to protect. They were not weak in any ways, or at least that was what she had gathered from all time spent around them. Regardless of how strong they were, everyone needs someone to look over them, to be there; even when they aren't there physically. Perhaps her ideal was strange, to protect and care for those she knew. The people that touched her life, even if they didn't spend a lot of time together, they had passed through her life. There was always a chance of becoming great friends, to be able to be greeted with a warm smile and to give one back. Embarking on a quest to protect, in order to care for all of those who passed by and the ones that stuck around.
The school once again seemed to fall into the protective hands of the Beast King. Watching over the people and the buildings of the school. He and his team of Pillars were the ones to protect the school... Officially. Although, that never did stop others from dipping their hands into the battles and squabbles of Public High School 259. I guess it was a day where I was called an idiot that really changed my way of thinking... for the most part. It's funny to think about it now.I mean, I got the message... Maybe a little too late.It had been a fail on her half, challenging random people to fights, never seemed to work in her favour. She'd either lose and get hurt, or attempt to fight someone.. Only to have them run away. Perhaps she was picking the wrong targets. A failed attempt in fighting, followed by comments from the Beast King.
"Maybe you never really knew me!" Words spoken far to often by the populace of teenagers. Since they always believe that no one understand them, when in order to find the acceptance they long for, never look in the right places... Forcing stress and unhappiness upon those that do care. Like most, she'd never escape from the cycle.
"Oh I knew you, maybe it's more like, I don't know you now,"
"This doesn't suit you Addie, you should probably quit this unless you're ready for it all... because I don't think you realize just how serious it is to be involved in all this."He was right, there was no mistaking it.
The fight was short, it seemed that he didn't use any of his potential... Matrim was strong, she knew that, after all he always seemed to be the school Captain. That was a title for the strong, right? Anyone with the ability to take the title and hold it... They were the best, right? Thats what she had believed since arriving in two of her schools.. Matrim always stood upon the top of the tower. Although his guards were always changing, it was always Matrim. So peculiar in his ways, his company, even down to the pillars. They weren't exactly the most powerful things in the school.... Whatever his reasons, they were his alone.
That gray afternoon, somewhere between lunch and dinner... She challenged the king, not for his title, but for the sake of knowing herself a little better. To find the line, that told her when she was going over board... The line that told her to turn tail and run... She didn't find it that day. Of course it isn't something one can find fighting with a soft hearted friend. He went easy on her, it was obvious.
The brunette smiled as she took off, closing in the gap between herself and the Beast King. Her spirits were high, the bit of doubt that consumed her heart had been subdued... Momentarily. Her movements were fast, although not quite fast enough, the girl knew that before hand. Entering into a world where she was far below them, working her way up slowly, while those she tried to reach continued to gain power and climb. Far behind in the land of Titans.
Moving to the side and sticking out his foot, he tripped her. She'd get up and continue to fight. Although being thrown and stepped on was probably the end of it. Her heart was racing and her head was throbbing. The brunette had lasted longer than she expected, but it wasn't long enough.
"This isn't your world Addie, this world was built for those who are strong, you need to become stronger or perish!"He was right again.
"I'm not going to give up... I'll show you one day Matrim.."Words to regret later, spoken by an idiot.
The fight would dissolve and the pair would wander off to talk. Probably something she had needed more so, a lecture, words of wisdom from a friend.
""I felt behind of everyone, I thought if I could catch up to you guys, I'd be useful to you. Maybe if I became strong, you guys would stick around. That if I became strong, I could make a difference, I could help in things that effect the school, to stop those who come to harm those I care about. I just want to help in someway..." The brunette looked down at the ground as she followed Matrim into the cafeteria's kitchen, wandering off to look at the cupboards, never once looking back at him. She was ashamed of herself.
"Dumbass..."
"You are useful. It doesn't take physical strength to be useful, I mean look at me I'm pretty useless at times, I can't always protect others and I certainly can't always protect myself," He'd say, pulling the brunette into a hug and holding her close,
"But you can make those around you stronger by giving them something to fight for. Not just fighting to protect but fighting knowing that someone's there for them when the fights over."
"You have no idea how much strength Sara gives me," He said, smiling,
"Or how much drive I have because I have Shayne. I know going into a fight no matter what I'm going to win and come out alive, just to see Shayne and Sara again,"His words were those of a father... Of a brother.. of a friend. They helped her realize that she was being silly. Trying to become strong, when she could be useful in other ways. Although, at the time, she had never given up her dream of being strong. Words spoken too soon, would become something remembered too late.
What began in a fight, ended in an omelet and having fun with a friend... Someone close enough to being family. Laughing together, and enjoying an afternoon of fun. At that point in time I was glad to have a friend to guide me through such a time in my life. I must admit, I didn't just have Matrim. There were others whom always seemed to help me, catching me when I fell and bringing me back to my feet to stumble along the path of life.
My high school life was tame, free from drama of others. Almost devoured by drama created by my own hand. Unobtainable things and expectations that flew far to high to be reasonable. I who had once been alone, had grown up just a little in the United states. It had given me a chance to experience new things and be a happier person. Like who I once was in Germany... Mixed with fragments of myself from Japan and bits and pieces of my friends.
I was never really alone.
Teen aged angst and longing for friends, a feeling of togetherness and camaraderie, as well as a place in the world... I had began my journey to find everything... Slowly but surely, I began my journey down the bumpy path. Starting a little late, I was far behind my friends. But it didn't matter, since I'd meet them a the finish line. Or so I could only hope at least.
I knew all to well that I was lucky compared to some. Free from drama of the heart and all that attracted by the hands of others. My high school years lacked drama of love. The shapes of trouble and danger between two and those who invade.Passing in the hall, the brunette looked upon the face of a dark haired young girl, a familiar face from many places. A memory of Alaska, the young girl had been there too. never changing, she was still the short young woman whom once was rumoured to sleep with many. Once the school fell victim to a curse, she too joined the herds to another school...Somewhere a little far off. Her and her sister. There were once two of them, although to reasons I remember hearing once.. The sister had passed on.. Leaving two people alone. So started the tragic drama of the heart.
Where there are girls and young men, where there is school, there shall always been some kind of trouble between people. Really, it was anywhere, but in a place you need to be five days out of the week, there always will be trails of the heart. Girls like young men, and they seem to like back.. For the most part.
She was short, her hair was black as night and covered half of her pale face whilst she moved gracefully through the crowds. Often called a dog by those who didn't like her. Her name was Alexis and it always seemed that nothing really favoured her. At least when it came to love. Maybe it was karma repaying her for all the rotten things said and done in the past and of course in current time. Whatever the reason, she continued on.
Li....
and
Gabriel....
Li had disappeared after the funeral of her beloved sister, although there could have been something else that had pulled Alexis and Li apart. She traveled with Gabriel. Although reasons behind it had been kept between the two. Perhaps they were both clinging to something that had left the world, though that being the idea of some. There was probably something there. Love would flourish slowly, albeit the daftness of some and the wounded heart. Things only seemed to drag the pair deeper and deeper into the labyrinth.
People pulled them apart, with every bit dragging them further and further away until they could no longer reach. Her heart seemed to always focus on him, yet his seemed to wander. Jealousy and hate followed with the triangle formed by Reira joining the frey. Even once that was over, her heart was uneasy. She had grown soft over the time with Gabriel. No longer the same girl that lied her way into and out of everything, she didn't sleep around in order to get the attention of the one she liked. Alexis had become tame. Her time with Gabriel always seemed to be short before something interfered.
After Reira they had their moments, it seemed to be getting better gradually. Just as things get better they also get caught in a negative undertow, pulling you back to where it began. As new faces appear, people find others to spend time with. Although it might not be for the same reason, but one finds themself always in the same boat; yet again. He was loved by another, leaving her alone. The time they spent together decreased and continued to do so. It wasn't until an incident at a mall, that Alexis opened her eyes to all that was going on. Feeling a little uneasy. After all, she loved that man, was she really in danger of losing him? The dark haired beauty was never really one to worry, there were not many times where she had to do so... Especially about men. She always managed to get what she wanted... Except in the case of Li. Although, that was probably best with out him...
Alexis had worries since being trapped in the mall with Gabriel...and
'her'. Where it had become obvious that the girl Gabriel was spending a lot of his time with was Kevala. She was beautiful, which lead Alexis in to becoming fearful. All her life she was never destined to be the winner. Perhaps it was all because of actions of the past... Who would want a girl like her? One who had slept with more boys than she owned socks.
I need proof....In an attempt to ease her mind, she called forth the girl. She was to meet in the house later that day, it had to happen.. Alexis needed to know what her next step was. After all, there was only so long she could keep him chained and her own thoughts and emotions kept together. After all, there was only so long she could last living with such things on her mind and dwelling in her heart. After a bit of rummaging, she managed to find the other girls number, it was time to find out for sure.
No one could live happily with so many doubts and fears in mind. They were supposed to be in love, right?
After the message was sent, she'd return to her first love; music. It was the only thing that kept her intact during the wait. Surprise... Surprise. She showed up. Who would have guessed, perhaps she was wrong. To help herself along, Alexis wore a serious expression as her bright green eyes looked upon the young woman before her.
Beautiful....
There was no doubt about it, there was part of her that could feel that she was indeed involved with Gabriel, although she never said it out loud. Alexis had to question the girl anyways, just to be sure. One can not judge purely on hunches. Her eyebrows arched whilst looking upon the girl kanoodling with her boyfriend, there was a frown that gently curved on the young woman's pale face.
"I'm going to cut to the chase.... There will be a few questions asked and you WILL answer them. If you lie, I'll know. So don't even bother wasting your time trying.... I'm not a fucking monster...I just need answers." Spoken in words icy cold, yet meant not to be threatening. It seemed the dark haired girl was trying her best to keep face, whilst asking the obvious.
"Do you love my boyfriend?"A simple question, answered after a moment of silence.
The girl cared DEEPLY for Gabriel.
Her heart ached listening to the girl trying to avoid it, because it was true. She was in love with Gabriel... Although a question lingered in the short girl's mind... Did he love her back? Fear seemed to shadow her, causing the young girl to worry. Something she never really did. Fearful that Gabriel loved the girl back, more than her. He couldn't, right?
"You know, this would be easier if you just straight up told me the truth.."She wanted to cry, but there was no way that Alexis Green was going to break down in front of anyone... Especially not her. Holding herself up on threads too thin, the young woman tried to get the information, some of which she'd wished had not happened. They had kissed and spent so much time together, was he in love with the other woman? So many fears lingered, but it just confirmed her fears.
She could think of nothing more to do in such a matter.
After dismissing the young woman, Alexis sat on the ground, her back against the wall. Devoured by thought and negativity. There really was no other way to avoid such a thing. When you love someone, you need to know when its time to go and when to do things for their sake. Even if it means hurting oneself. She knew when it was time to leave, even though they both loved each other. One can not have a third person involved with one's hearts whilst in a relationship with another.
"And because I love you... I have to move out of the way so you can spread your wings. With me around, I'm nothing but the cage."She loved him, yet she said goodbye to him later that day. Leaving him behind and opening a new door to him.
Wounded hearts sing their last song to each other before taking different paths. Smiling momentarily, remembering the moments of happiness before consumed in sorrow and drowned in tears. Great distances and lonely souls.Trails of the heart and mind lead people to different places. Somethings that happen to us effect our future and the road we take to it.[/ul]
It's shite....I know T___T I tried.... D:
