(OOC: yeah, I went thar ) a silent air balanced carefully through the library, tipping and swaying with the flipping of pages, teh occasional cough, the heavyset kid in the far corner breathing obnoxiously, the tiny tapping of the librarian watching with hawklike gaze across the room...this was no place for quiet study Sitting calmly at a table by himself Victor was hunched over his AP calculus book, running numbers in his head as he punched them through his calculator, a smile on his lips as his mind played a little game with him, see who could complete his homework faster, his subconcious or himself. pencil hitting the paper he scribbled through one long problem... he looked up at the tapping on the librarian's desk... wishing she wasn't such a nervous wreck... yeah, your husband is back at home cheating on you because you're a boring librarian... get over itVictor shook his head, that was both mean and probably untrue, sometimes he just had humorous nasty thoughts like that, and he chuckled, in the end it was harmless. Victors long arms stretched out With an elongated sigh that rang just slightly louder than the rest of the noises in the room, Victor toppled the quiet barrier, causing everyones sounds to stop as they turned and looked at him, Victor just smiled, that was quite enough math for today. he closed his book, getting up and putting his papers in his single binder he placed his book back on the shelf, everyone still staring at him, watching as he walked out of the library wide sweeping movemets, and a bounce in his step, Victor pulled his grey pea coat closer as he stepped out into the fall air, though 'cold' in california was never exactly 'cold' Victor still liked the fashion that went with the season, he loved jackets. Walking toward the quad he saw a couple of kids fighting, Victor smiled just another day at 259. he walked into the circle watching the two go at it, his massive shoulders pushing kids aside until he was at the front. "Why are they fighting?" Victor asked in his rich smooth voice to the kid next to him, the kid just shrugged, Victor shook his head with an amused smirk, looking back to the fighting kids. it was only a matter of time before someone broke this up, or one kid knocked the other out... Victor got out of the circle, walking and taking a seat on a bench in the quad a short ways away, chuckling to himself he pulled a piece of paper from his binder and began writing something... no one would know, but it was poetry, Victor's secret love and he just happened to be in the mood.

Just another day at public high school 259, Zachariah had just finished his research paper for his AP English class. It was a twenty-three page paper on the basic driving force behind human morality. He asserted, and proved fairly well, that individual morality did not differentiate greatly from the overwhelming social consciousness. There were, of course, always outlying markers that Psychologists would often refer to as sociopaths, however in general people fell within a normal range of deviation from what the society at large consider “moral”. He’d used thirteen different sources, texts, in addition to talking to anyone he could from anywhere he could about their own morals and where the grew up was like. Such a fascinating topic and results had driven him to work every moment he could, which meant any moment he wasn’t finishing other school work, on this paper. It wasn’t due for two more months…
Making his way through the courtyard, Zachariah was preparing to return several books to the library, two research and one pleasure… Plato’s Republic, which he’d read several times. Regardless his paper was done and saved, though he might add, and he wasn’t feeling pretty good.
… the all to familiar sounds of a fight…
Zachariah sighed slightly shaking his head as he moved past the crowd, a daily occurrence but still sad to see. Granted it served as further data and proof of his thesis, fighting was acceptable here in a manner of speaking. Continuing on his way, Zachariah across a person who’d separate himself from the crowd, apparently uninterested in watching the brawl, and started to write something down. Slowly he approached before leaning over the bench as though prying into the matter.
“Might I ask what you are writing about?”

Victor looked up, slightly startled he smiled at the boy who was leaning over him, inquiring about subjects of writing. "Just a sort of commentary on the working of society today" Victor said, failing to mention it was a poem, he did not usually let anyone know he wrote poetry, though that happened to be what it was about, and Victor happened to technically not be lieing
yay!
he looked the boy in the eyes, curious at to the sort of person who goes about and asks things of random people sitting on a bench. Victor's gaze then went back to the kids fighting and then up to this boy again. strange how these things happen, a fight right there and this kid was more interested in Victor writing.
"I'm Victor, nice to meet you" Victor would say, introducing himself, his hand coming up to shake, it was always worth introducing yourself to a character like this. "gotta ask cause I'm thinking of it, what exactly makes the boy writing on a bench more interesting than the kids fighting in the yard?" Victor asked calmly, patting the seat next to him, offering the guy a place to sit.

Zachariah nodded lightly with a small smirk that was in acknowledgement of the irony of his recently finished paper and the subject of this guy’s writing being so similar in topic. Upon further inspection though, given the environment, it was a popular subject to write or think about. When in a hospital it is often people think about health, medicine, and death. This train of thought was broken when he noticed the small double take before the introduction and offered handshake.
“I’m Zachariah. Good to meet you as well.”
While introducing himself as politely as possibly, Zachariah shook Victor’s hand politely as he should. Manners were always important, so when Victor asked his question and offered the seat next to him Zachariah circled around to graciously take the seat while laughing lightly while thinking about his answer. It might seem odd that someone writing was more interesting than a fight but it came down to environment, didn’t it?
“To answer your question, I pose this one… if a cat and platypus walk out in front of us right now, which one do you pay more attention to? Most would focus on the platypus because its rare to see here, however someone who sees a platypus everyday might focus on the cat. It’s about the rarity of the subject being observed in relation to the observer…”
He smiled lightly knowing full well that his answer was far more complicated than it probably had to be. Nonetheless he continued.
“I see fights everyday, I’ve had to stop my share… but a person who chooses to sit and write instead of watch. That I haven’t seen as much.”

Victor nodded at the anology and the answer, this kid had a very good point, and an interesting way of speaking that Victor really appreciated. "So true, its almost depressing how few kids you see training their minds instead of their muscles" Victor said, even though he was probably the last person to talk, his huge muscles and love of fighting spoke for themselves around campus, he had a certain reputation... not even for winning... just for fighting... a lot
but still, many forgot that Victor had an intellectual side as well, and finding someone to share that with is
exhillarating.
and that fact that he went by the full name zachariah also tickled Victor's fancy to a large degree.
"You seem like the scholarly type zachariah... tell me, do you like poetry?" Victor asked, purely out of curiosity, it couldn't hurt if one person knew he wrote poetry, and its not like any of his bros would ever talk to this guy... he was for the most part safe... and he kind of wanted to show someone this little poem. with a passive movement Victor handed the piece of paper up to his new friend
Muscles flex, and fists are thrown each kid drops like a stone no questions asked, no answers obtained the ground, with blood, is stained
the crys aren't heard, the screams know of no ears that are listening somewhere in a scholars mind dreams of a life much less frightening
morals deteriorate like paint on a wall the more it breathes the more it will fall chipping away at its own heart these fists tear the walls apart
and at the end of the day you look at the battleground and say this one is stronger, so this one is right matters not who's correct, just who wins the fight

Good to meet someone that didn’t stare at him like he was speaking another language when he used his round about way of answering simple questions. Most people would give Zachariah a type of blank stare of confusion when he spoke like that. Needless to say, he nodded in agreement with Victor’s assessment of intellectual deprivation of the school’s student populous. It was something he’d noticed within his first few moments in this system and something that he’d tried to change during his time as a tutor, with mixed results.
“Yes, I do.”
Zachariah responded simply to the question of whether or not he liked poetry. Of course, he did as it was a wonderful way of expressing views to the world with eloquent verbiage. He took the poem and read it over carefully. A small smile formed as he read along, nodding slightly here and there as signs of approval. It was actually very good, perhaps surprisingly so. Granted that as smart as Zachariah was, he was by no means the most artistic person around. He was much more the philosophic thinker than the artistic visionary, even more a analytical rationalist than artistic, but still he could appreciate good literature.
“It’s very good… perhaps you should publish one in the school newspaper.”
A small suggestion. A talent shouldn’t be hidden but shown as a wondrous light to the world.
