David let out a breath after taking a long swig of his drink, looking around himself with a small curiosity. He was Captain again, but the change seemed to go rather unnoticed. He was fine with that. His life would be short lived as the Captain here. He didn't want it, in truth the only thing he actually wanted from that confrontation was the battle with Gabriel. He took another drink, a heavy one. It was whiskey, something David never Drank. He didn't really care.
Killing someone was not something he did lightly, and Gabriel was a part of him whether he wanted to admit it or not.
He texted Emily.

Emily had been hiding by the library - no, not the open tables where she usually had sat, but rather those small cubicles out back. She didn't want to see anyone today; at least not with what happened at the hospital a few days back.
Not to mention David's own ruckus just a few weeks ago.
She had a feeling that it was best she put herself out of public exposure. Her phone was left ignored for the next few dozen minutes, as it had been put on silent mode.
Though, she had gotten the urge to check - just because.
And of course, she was right: there was a text from David Blaze, the guy she had just saved from the brink of death. Though, she had no idea what happened to Gabriel.
But yeah, seeing this:
Emily began to wonder what this 'something' was. Hopefully something she actually wanted, and not something this guy decided to shove to her side again.
Still a little distracted, she put away her things and made a small detour to her locker on the way to the cafeteria. It didn't take long for Emily to find David in the small crowd.
She would sit on the seat that faced him and said, smiling, hoping that he wouldn't notice her small, uncharacteristic gestures. "You called for me?"

David gave a slight grunt in welcome to the former pillar, slightly uncaring in his thought. He downed his drink, throwing it over his shoulder and into the garbage can without looking. He licked his lips before looking at Emily with Half closed eyes.
"Your School Captain now."
Heheld up a hand as though to calm her down.
"Before you object- listen. I killed a man who was guilty of crimes. But those crimes went unproven, and in that i broke the law. I am no longer suited for the title of Captain, and therefore i want to give it to you. My reasons being that i trust you, i trust your judgement and i know your strength. You are better suited for it then myself."
He looked around himself, peering at everyone who happened to glance his way, who saw the gloves on his fist that marked him as theyre Captain. some with envy, others with hate, a few with admiration. None of them understood. He looked to Emily once again.
"Do you accept?"

"Your School Captain now."
Emily frowned. David knew she didn't want that position anymore. "David-"
Emily's frown grew. No, she didn't want to be captain at all - not that cursed title. She didn't really bother about what people heard or what the people that watched this even thought.
Yet again, David would be giving her a position of power that she didn't earn.
"Do you accept?"
Emily rolled her eyes as her arms crossed over her chest. "... Once more you shove this into my plate and assume yet again that I accept this willingly." She sighed. Emily was slightly upset, although. "Mind you, I am just as guilty of murder as you were. Murder is murder - retribution or otherwise. But..." She said, "I will accept this position, unwillingly so - for a few conditions."
She put her hands forward and started counting.
"Number one: I would demand that you be a pillar under me. You will protect me, and you will see to it that the school is protected." She then continued: "Two: Understand that I will leave 259 in a year; I can only keep this title for until then."
She took a breath before going to number three. "Lastly, ... you will train me to be as strong as you were when you fought Gabriel."
She leaned back on the chair, crossing her arms again and looked away. "I'll accept the title if you accept my conditions."

David listened without feeling as she spoke her conditions. Curiosity peaked when she said she was leaving- he wanted to at least know why. Well, part of him did. The part of David that was buried beneath guilt. How was he going to be able to face Alexis? How could he look school members in the eye and not feel himself a hypocrite? He stared blankly at the table.
"I am unworthy of a pillarship, but if it means you will be Captain without argument, then whatever." He looked her in the eye.
"As for the third- you don't want that kind of Strength Emily Del los Santos. It destroys the soul."
David's strength had been immense that day- well beyond the mark of power he had ever shown on any given occassion. He hated his strength- only now did he realize it was something he had been hating all along, a reason for his constant dragging of feet, his reason for finding someone worthy to fight. Leon? No, Leon wasn't worthy. His strength was based off boosting his own body, and though he fought like a true warrior his power wasn't truly his own. Same with Gabriel. David's mind had begun to reel since killing Gabriel Seran, and now he thought only of his failure to find the good in the heart of that Dragon. Now he just wanted to fight, to meet someone in battle who was worthy.
It was a common goal, so bourish and beastly. A barbaric, unrefined method of thought. Now, only now, did he know that he was beyond caring. The law would always remain with him- but battle would now become a constant state of living.
He smiled, looking down.
"It eats you away until there is...nothing."
He would stand and begin walking, not looking back at the new School Captain as his feet carried him to the courtyard, where he could lay under a tree and mentally attack himself into sleep.

"I am unworthy of a pillarship, but if it means you will be Captain without argument, then whatever." He looked her in the eye. Emily's gaze slightly softened as he spoke again. "As for the third- you don't want that kind of Strength Emily Del los Santos. It destroys the soul."
Power was indeed the forbidden fruit. This power that causes corruption of the mind, and actions of the most pure of intentions turn into coal.
"It eats you away until there is...nothing."
That said, Emily understood. She nodded, although - to fulfill this request that David asked of her would require her to be moderately strong. It was something that she wasn't - or at least, in her mindset.
She watched as the ex-captain left his seat and walked away.
Emily was again to carry this cross, huh?
Chuckling to herself, she would smile at the crowd warmly. "Now, now." She said, "Nothing to see here." and decided to stay in the rooftops for a little while. There were many things she had to think about.

"So that was his plan?" Alex asked, stepping out from behind a wall near Emily, his arms folded across his chest. He had been listening to David's conversation starting from when he had named Emily the School Captain, at which point he had closed his eyes somberly, David passing by him completely, since he had remained hidden, up to now. "You're strong, and I know it. I'll always be here for you, okay?" He said, gently placing his hand on Emily's shoulder. You've really outdone yourself this time Mr. Blaze... Leaning forward slightly, so he wasn't towering over her now, Alex peered over her shoulder, having removed his hand, and looked at her. "... What will you do now?" He asked, as he watched David stumble off rather drunkenly. Poor, poor devil. Everyone had spill and had the blood of others on their hands... Even Alex.
He had taken the lives of many men in the Paladin War, lives of innocent men who had been controlled by the Qi of their leader, influencing them, manipulating their every move. Alex was far from innocent. Knowing you killed someone innocent, someone that did not deserve death, was enough to drive any normal person crazy, constantly being tormented. But Alex was far from normal. He would bear the weight of the guilt of taking lives by his own hands, for the rest of his life. "... The both of us will be leaving 259 in a year. I do not intend to ask you to make me a Pillar. Titles mean nothing to me. You are still you, Emily, the girl I fell in love with. Rather, I ask that you choose those whom you deem to be worthy of the titles." Alex had grown up greatly in a short while, far more than he realized. He may be the King of Sarcasm, ever since he first started high school, but the years of constant fighting led him to adopt an attitude akin to that of water, free flowing much of the time, but unstoppable when aroused. It's your move now... Emily...

"You're strong, and I know it. I'll always be here for you, okay?" Emily would look around, noting the hand of Ryuu on her shoulder. She would smile warmly, though not as much so as the crowd would notice their relationship.
But yeah, it would fade quickly. There was much more to deal with that this. Emily didn't really know what to do with this title.
"... What will you do now?" He asked, as the both of them watched David leave, until he disappeared in the crowd.
Unlike David and Alex, Emily's own cause of murder was selfish. It was not for anyone else or retribution - but a fear of death and the loss of dignity. What's more, she killed those men ruthlessly; EATING their flesh.
It was an urge Emily fought hard to control.
Nobody needs to know about it.
"... The both of us will be leaving 259 in a year. I do not intend to ask you to make me a Pillar. Titles mean nothing to me. You are still you, Emily, the girl I fell in love with. Rather, I ask that you choose those whom you deem to be worthy of the titles." Emily looked down and chuckled a bit. "I know." She said, "I... need a bit of time to think about what to do from here. I'll call you, alright?"
Emily would then stand up from her seat, staring blankly into nothing while she walked out of the cafeteria.
There was much to think about.

Alex stayed stoic, despite seeing Emily smile warmly, though not enough that the crowd would catch on to their relationship. Rather, they would probably think they two of them were friends, given that Alex hadn't really reacted. He saw her smile quickly fade as he removed his hand and peered over her shoulder, his eyes holding a bit of affection for her, but that was the extent he would go to to show his true feelings for her. He saw her look down and chuckle a bit. "... Of course," He replied, as he straightened up, "I'll be waiting." He stepped back as she stood up and walked out of the cafeteria, before she too disappeared into the crowd.
He then turned and strode out of the cafeteria, his arms no longer folded, they were now hanging loosely by his side. There were a lot of things to think about from here on out. Alex would always support Emily, regardless if he was a Pillar or not. She may be the School Captain, but even a captain needed a pillar of strength, someone to go to and lean on for support. Alex was that person. He loved Emily more than anyone, and would help her in any way possible. He would always be waiting for her. Until his dying day, he would. Always.
(End Thread I suppose)
