"We have a new Captain- finally the start of a new regime!" The boy before him grinned. "Your old news, Blaze. Your serving a new Captain now- so bow to your leader Varsity Capt-"
A fist would crush the kids jaw completely, busting it back and up into the pocket of nerves just under the earlobe, knocking him utterly unconscious.
"Your Captain is a fool who knows nothing of todays 259- and i serve only one person." He was obviously speaking of Emily, since he had sworn to protect her. Had the match been openly declared, David would have been there- hell, he would have offered to fight Matrim instead. David kept himself under control, reminding himself not to think of the possibilities as the boys friends began fleeing.
He cracked his neck, rolling his shoulders slightly as he took a deep breath. Big talkers, slow walkers. He moved on, stepping on the stomach of the crumpled body that was left at his feet. He didn't care- let the medical team take care of the body- he wasn't seriously injured, just a fractured jawbone. David would seem to move through the halls, a ghostly figure in red. He made his way outside, coming into the all-too-populated courtyard. The place was famous, a site of many battles and constantly in reconstruction.
For once, however, he wasn't here for battle. There were none around worthy enough to challenge him. He wouldn't waste further time on them. Instead, he made his way to the monstrous tree, the one that lived through every battle to ever take place at 259. He would vanish at the bottom, and appear standing at the lowest branch, fifteen feet up, as big around as his entire body. He gripped a limb and stood, looking out over 259 with sad, blank eyes.
This place had become... uneventful.
Emily had lost her title, and David had no interest in his own. He never did- even when she offered it to him he didn't want it, he only accepted it because she asked him to protect her. He would- always. She was his friend, and he would never abandon her for an empty title. True she had lost that title- Yet Still, David wasn't angry or confused. He was just...there. Things didn't change for him- he would protect Emily, he would continue hunting for a challenger, and would watch over the school and keep it safe from outside harm.
He sighed, his dull, silent tone indicating his reluctance to continue here, yet his inability to move on.
'Whats next 259? Hmm? What new challenge will you send our way?'

"YO!" Matrim called out approaching the man known as David Blaze. He came bearing an olive branch. No... really, he was holding an olive branch and holding it up to David Blaze, "Blazey! Blazers! Blazums! Dude! Broham! Dooderino!" He would call out as he walked up. He actually didn't show a cheerful expression so much as an exhausted and tired one. It was pretty much done and over with, so he would just see what sort of manpower he had collected. "Whats up?"
He smiled up at the guy. He had a need to talk to him. Did he know he was Varsity Captain? Actually... he didn't. He still had yet to find that out. He just knew David Blaze was the first one to talk to.
Well, no better place to start.
"David, I got a riddle for you. How do you find out who your true enemies are?" Depending on what David's answer was, or if he simply just punched Matrim in the nose and walked off, this conversation could have gone two very distinct ways. In any case, if this went bad his next stop was the grave of Gabriel Seran to dig his ass up, resurrect him somehow, and see where he and his black knights stood.

David turned, looking down at the man who had approached him. He spoke like a man after his dog, though David supposed he was just trying to be open. He released the branch, walking off the edge and landing rather deftly, lightly on the ground before this new...Captain. He stared at him a moment without answering before he spoke.
"Why ask me?"
His voice was blank and monotonous. He wasn't Matrims enemy- oh the contrary. He just felt Matrims motives and friends rather... well, Moving on. He kept his eyes on Matrims, a hard edge to them as he did so- they held challenge, as they did for everyone these days. He wondered if Matrim felt himself worthy to be Captain- little did the guy know, the title was nearly run dry in the school- thanks to a stranger, nearly everyone felt the hunger for anarchy. His "rule" wasn't really a rule at all, and he had come to figure this out only after giving that title to Emily.
Perhaps, however, Matrim had a plan to re-unify the school?
Perhaps.
He would wait and see.

"Why ask me?"
"You think like your enemy, you act like your enemy, you become your enemy. Those who are truly your allies will oppose you, those who in secret were your enemy will make themselves your ally really quickly. In any case, here's the deal. I beat Emily, I took the title from her. Don't worry, she's ok, the fight went by quick and I made sure not to seriously injure her since she's cool in my book. I may have been aggressive, but I had to show her...."
He stopped briefly, "I want to save the people of this school. I don't want to do it with cruel means, I don't want to become some power hungry dictator. I don't want to conform to what people in my past have told me concerning that people were weak and we have to strengthen them. People are strong, and I know it. Maybe not physically so like you or me, but they are definitely strong."
He decided to get to his point, "You were right. We need to create a safe environment. We need to protect the students, and we need to make them stronger. Not by beating them till they get tougher, but stronger as a student body. Unified, so that they can take care of themselves. They don't need a pillar in charge of them, they need a pillar who works for them."
Matrim then decided to plead, "I need your help. You have a righteous view, you can help me to live as if this school was as it should be, to show it what it can be. Be my Varsity Captain, create school spirit, help create a community within the school that doesn't tear us apart. That doesn't have us at each others throats in the hall for every little thing."

David stared without feeling as Matrim asked him to be his Varsity Captain. David didn't say anything for a moment, before he finally answered.
"This school has changed. It's no longer a place where pillars have control- an assembly a few weeks ago caused everyone to opt for student anarchy. Even as Captain, you won't have much control without a plan." He cracked his neck. "As for being Varsity Captain, I already am, but i'm giving it up now. Before you ask why, i'll answer for you, and you can take it as personally as you like." He would never waver, his eyes steadily staring, as though bored, into the Captains face. "For one, with Emily, i agreed to be her Varsity Captain because i love her- i will always protect her, and being her pillar gives me that opportunity. I don't want to be one- you can even ask her about my reaction to her rule that i watch over her as her pillar when i gave her the title. With her gone, i'll gladly wash my hands of the it."
His eyes hardened violently.
"And for two, a VC is suppose to be weaker then the School Captain."
Yeah, he was openly stating he was stronger then Matrim, and he felt no fear from it- though outwardly he showed nothing but the hardening of the eyes, inside he felt excitement. Would Matrim feel stung and try to battle for his pride? David would- but then again, some may see that as petty. But what else do you have in the world besides your word and your pride? He could also picture Matrim taking the higher road out- speaking of how far David had fallen, and basically repeat all the same things Gabriel had said.
Overall, David didn't know Matrim well enough to guess his mental reactions, and seeing him fight on several occassions gave him no indication as to how he would react in a non-violent situation.
He waited, eyes locked on the Captain before him.

All the same, always the same. The dark suited man sat in the corner nearby overhearing the bits of the conversation. Two superpowers trying to get the other to blink first, humerous and all though the ending of this was all too similar as the times prior. History repeated itself consequentially and chances are either the superpowers would fall to their undeniable egos or anarchy would strike hold. Both very plausible endings. Yet this made him smile.
Sky Dalten sat there simply enjoying himself, funny how a change of perspective could deter a man. He laughed bitterly in his corner at Matrim's plan. He remembered a similar one much like this long ago, what was it Matthew Amtrum who decided to do something similar. Even what Kate had attempted as she lead the remnants of the Reapers. Such a long time ago.
"it's not going to work..." he said in an even breath with amusement loude enough so that each may hear.

"Yeah yeah, I know the titles been around more than, well, Kate McHallin," (Badum bum tiss), "But look, the deal is this, there needs a better attitude about it okay? The title can be used, and it can be dangerous. And it can be meaningless pointless and stupid. What determines that are the people who hold it and what they do with it. If my attempts are futile then so be it I'll go down fighting."
He ignore the second statement altogether, "If you think you're stronger than me, fine, beat me up because I ain't going to fight back. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of this game of who's stronger, because it's usually everyone who gets hurt. And besides, I wouldn't want to fight you on School Grounds, I already risked enough fighting Emily. Who, by the way, if you love, you might want to talk to. She seemed a bit off in that fight. Maybe it was fighting a four armed human torch or maybe it was something else. Look, fine, don't take the title. But do you agree with me? What are you willing to do for this school? I've seen you, I've witnessed it first hand. I know because I fought against you, and because I did I learned about you."
He thought about something, "Oh yeah, and how did Gabriel kick the bucket? I heard it from Em but I don't believe it..."

Davids hair hung over his eyes as Matrim spoke.
"Nothing grows without struggle. You plan to make a better school without fighting? Get ready for a mental bitch slap- 259 was built on a foundation of fighting."
He gave a small smile as Matrim asked the question. It was coming, David knew it was, and though he felt the need to address Sky, he kept his focus on the Captain for now. He looked him in the eye, a flash of blue sliding around inside his irises, giving them a rather regally terrifying look.
"I killed him."
David unleashed his aura, a power which may or may not affect Matrim. It didn't cause any outward changes, but was more a strange, deep blue glow around his body. His hair blowing gently as he stared matrim down, a grin the Captain would have never seen coming to his lips- one of hunger and of excitement, of deeply rooted insanity that murder brought to his surface.
"Go ahead and talk of no more fighting, of being tired of it, but even now, though you deny it you wish to test your abilities against me." He cut it off, giving himself the same, abusively blank outward appearance as everyone else.
"Fighting is what makes the work stronger, Captain. Niether you or i would be here without it. Its controlling the chaos as the law commands that i agree with, not a sense of ownership or rule."

If only that were true
He rolled back quite curious as to the results. Actually no that was a lie, he already knew who would win. Fighting David enough times had sewed that reality into his head quite alot. Though Matrim had beaten Emily he didn't stand even the remote chance against David's agility. Still Sky wondered how he would deal with that when the time came.
'In due time I suppose...'
He nodded with a firm smile in place on his features, he'd keep his energy low to keep from shaking up this place any more than need be. Besides this wasn't his fight, he'd gone rather ignored to begin with. Till that time came of course, a pair of shakles he found in his back pocket. Time would tell who'd come out on top. Everyone rushing to the finish. Funny how life was.

"it's not going to work..."Sara was watching him =_= =_____= Watching him HARD... Why? Because he was watching THEM. I'm watching you boy... I see ALL... In your little corner...
Better not pick your nose... Or I'll see it... If you do pick it... I'll glare at you... HARD... Something like this... CLICKY!She watched him smile and nod. Sara to, smiled and nodded. Interesting... No, the truth was, she was watching Matrim -- From afar of course -- ... Well not to far, but... Ok, not that far at all " The fact was though, she was actually closer to the creeper in the corner then to Matrim. Time to step in !Sara walked up next to him, smiling innocently. "Hey there... Whatchya lookin' at?" Her gaze fell on the two talking. This was her first day back at school in a while. It sucked to see how far behind she had fallen on everything happening, but hey, she could catch up. "I'm Sara."

"You're right, I do want to test my strength against yours. But not here, not now. Not at school, the whole place would get destroyed and go up in flames. I mean the last time I fought Gabe we took a building down and I wasn't even this strong then. Now I'm.... a freak to say the least."
Matrim felt something in David, some force. Matrim turned and ripped out a fart, "That's what I have to say about that. See you around, you wanna fight? That's fine, name a time and place outside of the school. Here's my number," He flipped a card that had only his initials and his pager on it, "Page me with details and I'll show. Even if the page says an hour from now outside of the school property line. But me and you would take this entire place down in our wake. It's the reason I ain't running up to Leon's classroom to try and get a decent brawl anytime soon."
And with that he'd leave.
I don't want to fight him, not really. I am tired of fighting, but I'd better get this one over with sooner rather than later or he'll just come after me in class.

Ah, such a classy exit.
Or would have been, had David stayed to listen to his gas passing and words of "wisdom". See, David only cared about his Queen, and about the next fight, so as soon as Matrim said he wasn't interested in fighting, David would shake his head while throwing a hand in the air, giving one noise and a word: "Tch, weakling." before turning his back on the boy and the future words he held, disregarding everything about a phone number, a place off campus, and all that hoopla. Not only had he, within those two seconds, totally gone against his own words, he was now acting like some hot shot. Perhaps because a lady friend of his showed up. Regardless, he would give a grin and a finger to them both (yes, the middle one) while walking by, obviously a signal, though different, to each individually.
To make it what was going on in his head into words- To Gabriel: "I can kick your ass, bitch." To Sara: "Yours too." all through the flashing of a simple birdy.
And with that, he would desert the hypocritical, Oxymoronic Captain and the tough talking bench sitters to thier fates.

A simple voice would have normally distracted his attention from the pair and to an extent it had. His eye shifting to meet the new party member before nearly disregarding her completely. He saw that too, Traitor. Or at least it was the name she'd acquired long ago. Though Sky wouldn't give in to the same foolish humor that had befallen the two fighters before him. Though he considered flipping her off, in the short run it'd feel great but otherwise it wouldn't be worthwhile so a shed a tough grin comming to a stand.
"What I thought would have been an interesting fight...seems kids at this school are afraid to get their hands dirty..." He chuckled tucking his hands into his coat gingerly turning away for a walk.
"Sara? hmm the name's Sky." A small smirk before turning again leaving the opportunity for further results to this rather dull day.
