A true warrior knows when to fight

[John]

Closing his eyes tight he listened to Jyo. They made sense, but could he honestly stop? Clenching his teeth as blood dripped between them mixed with saliva, he pushed off the ground with his right arm to lift himself. He stumbled slightly which hurt more as he stood there, alittle hunched over. He opened his eyes looking at Jyo. You could tell the wheels where turning in his head as he thought out the consequences.

What if Jyo was right? What if he couldn't recover? If he did too much damage to himself, would it be worth it? More thinking as it became quiet around them. John took a step forward and felt the pain. He stopped there and fell back to one knee. Catching himself with his right arm he held himself there his right arm shacking from the strain. He would have to there was no way he could continue, he had to give up so that he could fight Jyo again someday, maybe. He was starting to believe he really would never be great. He couldn't do it by himself and he couldn't even do it with this drug Asiv gave him.

". . . Very well. . ."

Admitting defeat and accepting aid seemed to hurt John more than the damage done to him now.

[Jyo]

Jyo sighed in relife. he didn't have to harm John anymore. He walked over makeing sure to be delicate and picked John up in his arms.
"Feel lucky. I normally only carry a girl like this." he said with a slight chuckle as he carried the battered fighter to the infirmary kniwing if he got there quickly John could be taken care of before the abulance would arrive.

He came into the infirmary and noticed Dr. Ichirou wasn't in. The man there at the moment gasped.
"What the hall..."
"No time." Jyo said utting the man off shortly.
"This student has several broken ribs and some internal damage as well and I'm not sure what else. Call the hospital and then come over to get him stabilized." He said as he set John on one of the beds.

The man looked at Jyo with surprise as he dailed for an ambulance. he wasn't used to a student being so authoritive it seemed probably due to the fact he wasn't the main medical person here. He went to work on John quickly showing he at least was skilled at what he did and soon John was stable enough to last until the paramedics arrived.

Jyo had stayed the entire time as he knew he was responsible for this.
"You sure put yourself through hell. You know that?' he said as they waited.

[John]

John scoffed as Jyo joked about only carrying girls the way he was being carried. His red eyes looked in another direction as they went along, at the infirmery the head health fasition wasn't in. But Jyo seemed to know what to do after setting him on a bed so he didn't really care. The other there had done work on him to stabalize him so he would last for peramedics. Then Jyo's comment caught his ear. He didn't look at him, just up at the wall. He didn't want to make eye contact right now but he would talk.

". . . I had to. . ."

John spoke, but had taken a second to answer. It would be interesting seeing the only other member of the School Hall Correctional Police bandaged up or even out of commision for a while fromt he school. Of course John was one of the few who would be body guard to Asiv, so it was basically down to Asiv to help himself, not to mention that scary little Dean of the school Mr. Masgrad. So he didn't really have any worries about being injurred for now.

[Jyo]

Jyo pondered the response for a second feeling a bit of familarity. he knew what it was like to need to do something though he felt it was probably for different reasons.
"Well we have nothing but time to talk while the abulance comes. Mind telling me why you had to do this?' he asked curious as to why John had done this. Going so far against jyo to have this happen. Jyo had put himself through worse several times. But it was always for a reason beyond improving his skills or proving what he could do. he had done it defending others.

[John]

John waited for almost a long while before he even considered answering Jyo. He didn't talk about his reasoning, nor hsi feelings, not even his past ever. He didn't want people involved with him, he liked his solitude and the unknown image he held. But it didn't matter right now, now did it? Plus if he talked it could pass time quicker and he could just leave for a while in the hospital.

". . . I'm supposed to be some hero saviour of the people in my home country. Someone who will bring great joy to the people. But I'm also supposed to be strong and powerful."

Taking a break from his story to remember when the monks came to see if he truely was his fathers son, he finally let that moment pass and continued to talk.

"The truth is I have no power. I'm not strong. . . I can't even hold my own at this school. . . How am I supposed to help that many people when I can't do anything for myself."

[Jyo]

Jyo nodded at the explaination. he was starting to understand to an extent.
"I see. Well I can't help you there. I wish I could say otherwise. ALl I can do is tell you this. A hero is not measured by his strength. But by his choices John. I myself constantly fought against foes that I was helpless against. But the reason I was called 'Hero' back at #499 was because of the REASONS I fought them. Power alone isn't enough. You proved you are strong by useing every last ounce of strength and will you had against me. It may not have been for good reasons. But you still showed the most important strength. The will to push your limits no matter what was thrown at you. it's highly commendable. Reminds me of myself a few years back." he said giving a soft smile.

"DOn't be hard on yourself. Many fighters here prove a challenge even for my abilities. The fact you could even hit me as a person your age is quite a feat. Few have even done that to me since arriving. The fact you are willing to help people is more than enough. Give it time and dedication and I have the feeling you are going to do well." He said.

Laying there he listened to what Jyo was saying. It made sense that fighting for a worthy cause would considered heroic, but he also had to have the will power. Jyo said that he had the will and ability to go far, but John hadn't seen it for himself yet. His views on his own abilities aren't too high, which is probably why he accepted Asiv's drug openly. He was told of the consequences of stopping, and was afraid of it. Maybe he could stop using Brimstone Delta for long enough until the pain started so he could try and kick it that way.

John wasn't about to drop it here and now because of a sudden sence of honor, but he was willing to slow down his use of it. John remembered something from their fight and wanted to know.

"You said you incountered people using Brimstone before. . . Did anyone quit successfully?"

[Jyo]

"Yes I encountered some useing the drink. They wre powerful students but #499's staff used the drink to keep them in control. And as far as I know only two people have broken off from it. The gang leader Octave and myself. I took it once to see what it did and my test was to see if I could break it's hold. I won't lie to you John. It is painful and not easy at all. But once broken you will realize that it isn't the miracle it may seem." he said. Jyo remembered the burning agony of the withdrawls all to much. But once he did he realized that it didn't do any good for him. He hadresumed a rigorous trainign regime afterwards and became stronger thatn the reamning brimstone useres. But Derrick died before he even decided to try and break free. Then there was Kasumi and the others. He often wondered what happened to them.

[John]

John listened to what he said, Jyo being one who survived himself, but a whole school and only two escaped its grasp. That brought down John's moral in a quick little fall. He waited for a while letting the words soak in. Finally the siren of the ambulence could be herd in the backround and a smile crossed John's face. He decided to play it cocky for now until he actually made it to the point.

"I'll keep that in mind."

The reason the ambulance was so responsive and prepared was it was used to coming to this school and it wasn't even that far away.

Jyo smiled.
"You do that. keep in mind I was roughly your age when I broke free of it and didn't show as much reslove. Just give it your all and if you want to get rid of the stuff you can. I'll help you every step of the way if need be." He said. he stepped aside letting the paramedics come in and take care of John.
"Right now though you should simply rest up. I'll come and check in on you at some point. Don't push yourself too hard. You've taken a pretty sound pounding. For that I am sorry. But I commend you. Rest easy knowing you did well John." he said and watched them take to young fighter away
