Tara stood at her locker door and fiddled with the lock. It wasn't working for her. Why wasn't it working for her? She let go of it and took a deep breath. Chances were it was just because she was so worked up right now... Ya, like a lock could sense stress... Her faded blue jeans scuffed the floor, a little to long for her as she tried to keep calm. She had her hair tied back in a ponytail and was shivering because of the air conditioning and her wearing a tank top.
She was having a rough day. After her talk with the school captain, and coming to the realization that everyone in this school was a mutant, she wasn't feeling quite so comfortable here anymore. Every few moments she would glance over her shoulder wondering if someone was suddenly going to blow up, or burst into flames, or break down a wall or... something. Every student that looked at her the wrong way scared the crap out of her.
What the hell was she supposed to do? Maybe she should get out of here for the day or something... She took a hold of the lock again and tried to get it to open, but to no avail. She dropped her head onto the locker door, her forehead resting against the cool metal as she took deep breaths feeling pretty damn sorry for herself. She really shouldn't be this negative. For her moms sake, she needed to make this work. She just needed to be positive and make some friends. There had to be someone in this school who was nice right? She pushed off the door and glanced nervously around the halls as she gave the lock one last tug trying to open it.
