encounter with a sparring buddy (winters)

ichimaru was walking into the coutyard and taking a farmilar position under a tree in full bloom, he closed his eyes for a moment enjoying the shade. he thought of his fight with jonathan winters, and smiled at the thought of it. no matter the outcome of the fight, jonathan had won his respect, even if it wasnt much, if he needed help of some kind he would be happy to lend a hand. when the fight accured, he thought of why he had the stutter or if there was any particular reason for his physical weakness, possibly an accident that left him bed ridden for monts, or something along those lines.

"Y-Yo."

For a bit, Jonathan walked in, normally, out to the courtyard, as he'd always done. His standard lunch meal of a bottle of water, a spicy chicken sandwich, and the small carton boxes of milk and orange juice in his cardboard lunch tray. But about half-way to the courtyard, he stopped.

...Ichimaru was there.

The last time he met this guy, he was knocked out, blood coming from his mouth, and he woke up, maybe about an hour later. It delayed him from managing to finish up all his homework for the rest of the night, but, in truth, that didn't really bother him all too much. Question, though.. was he here to fight, or.. what?

Taking a few steps towards him, he looked up at the tree. Looked nice. Guess Spring was coming. Expecting to be noticed, he sat down on the other side of the tree, and began unraveling the chicken sandwich from its foil, and took a bit from it. Chewing quietly, he looked back, to the other side of the tree, even though he couldn't really see Ichimaru.

"..Y-Yo."

"winters? hows it going, enjoying the weather i trust?" he asked smiling, it was good to hear a farmilar voice today he didnt want to fight him today, but he wouldnt mind talking for a bit. Ichimaru opeted for no food for lunch today, he had a hearty breakfast and it would hold him over untill close to the end of the day. he was going to ask more questions but he would figure that winters would like to eat a bit before going into a bunch of questions.

"Winters? Hows it going, enjoying the weather I trust?"

"Ja."

Actually, he found Ichimaru at a good time. Jonathan chewed his food somewhat derisively, mulling over some things. In particular.. their fight. Might as well. Swallowing, he shrugged, but more to himself, eyes closed, sort of enjoying the sensations of the outside.

"...B-Been th-thinking a-about o-o-our f-fight.. V-Vow d-did y-you g-get s-so s-strong, i-if y-you d-don't m-mind m-me a-asking..?"

..Alternatively, he was in the mood to listen more then anything. He was in the presence of someone strong. Might learn a thing or two..

smiling "well, i think i did it the less bright way. i happened to get into a spar first thing at this school and sience then almost the first thing i say to someone when i meet them is 'want to spar?' and through enough beatings, and a lot of good training with another friend of mine i was able to match my goal. this guy floating around his name is Jyo and he was friendly and i believe an upperclassman, anyway we had a spar, we both used our Qi and at the end, unlike most spars ive had, we talked right after it was over, no sirious injuries but learning a lot" he said thinking about that fight. veyugan was his ultimate goal to beat, but along the way he measured lower than most people around so smaller goals where set.

"there was another upperclassmen named veyugan, he put me to shame in two hits, i passed out and he wrote his number on my arm, and he helped train me. i suppose the old 'a spar brings people closer' or something like that is true" he smiled a bit as he remembered that, then of the fight with jacob who's gang Ichimaru was now part of.

This was a lot to chew on. Jonathan took another bite from his sandwich, thinking over what Ichimaru had just told him. Was quiet for a bit. Veyugan. And he knew about Jyo... Jonathan challenged Jyo himself to a fight, once he himself had gotten a bit stronger.

Way too many strong people in this school. He needed to work really hard, if he ever hoped to dream in catching up with anyone here. "..I-I s-s-see..."

"A-Actually," he began, after a moment, "..I-I've m-met th-this 'J-Jyo'. I-I c-can't f-f-f-figure h-him o-out.. d-do y-you h-have a-any i-info o-o-on h-him?"

Guess today was question day for Jonathan. He shook his head, even though Ichimaru couldn't see it, on the other side of the tree. "..S-Sorry... I-I j-just d-don't k-know m-much a-about wh-what g-goes o-on a-at o-our s-school... B-Been k-keeping a-a l-low p-profile f-f-for t-to l-long."

"no problem, Jyo has a Qi that lets him precieve things faster than a normal person, he used it against me, however if he dosent know something, such as anothers Qi, he'll be open for it, i suppose if you got too used to seeing things too well one might get cocky" he thought of this for a moment "do you have a Qi? and besides that, if you need anything i'll be more than happy to help you" he smiled and looked up through the leaves of the tree they where under.

This was a first. Qi? What was Qi?

..Jyo had an ability to perceive things faster then the normal person. Foresight? This meant that Jonathan had a long ways to go. Then. Apparently, many strong people had Qi.

His brows furrowed, and he finished off his sandwich. "..S-Sure.. I-I'll t-take y-you u-up o-on th-that o-offer. ..B-But c-could y-you t-tell m-me wh-what Q-Qi i-is..? I-I've n-never h-heard o-of i-it b-before.."

"i've heard the term floating around, and then directly told and shown, but i still dont get exactly what it is. its some special thing uneqie to that person, an example is Jyo's Qi and my Qi do two different things" he stated as he tried to think exactly what Qi was, then he remembered he never showed winters his Qi "my Qi, before you ask. can double the weight of person limb or object with a punch, however i need to focous on the limb or limbs i want to use. for me its sort of like flexing a muscle, for Jyo it may be different, but i dont know for sure"

...Those first two punches....

Jonathan had gotten a strange sensation from them. Felt better that he had managed to avoid them, all the more. So, according to Ichimaru, Qi was... a special ability. The light in his eyes flickered. Didn't like the sound of it too much. There had to be a catch. For anyone to be able to use a 'special ability', meant there was a price, right? This wasn't the comic-strip world. Ichimaru's in particular, sounded incredibly frightening, but... inconvenient, to an extent.

He picked up his juice box.. "..F-Flexing a-a m-muscle..? I-Interesting..."

..But in truth, this sounded way too foreboding an ominous to himself. Wasn't about to say that, though. Wanted to ask how Ichimaru achieved his Qi, but... really, he'd already asked a lot of questions. Maybe his.. 'friend', would like to talk about himself, or something? Or go on on that tangeant? Or even ask Jonathan a question. Didn't matter much, but.. for the moment, Jonathan stayed quiet, to be polite.

Swishing the box in his right hand a bit, he popped it open, before drinking in a little bit..

The tree looked very alive today.

Made him wish he'd allow himself to smile at such silly things.

he thought of a moment "ah, i left out an interesting thing that happened to Jyo, he had to put sunglasses on because of the effect of his Qi on his eyes, probrably light senitivity for a while or something, i hadnt thought of my Qi having that kind of downside, however in a way mine dose too. if my opponent can still swing a punch or kick, it will do more because of its weight, so i suppose everything has give and take" he said as he figured his Qis downside, the weight used as an advantave, although it didnt effect Ichimaru like Jyo's Qi, but it still had a down side. he streached and remembered something odd about the fight with him and winters, it seemed like...well like he didnt make a direct hit, Ichimaru dismissed it as his mind making things to pick at, like it seemed to do sometimes.

OOC: >_< I know. Sorry for short posts. But, Jonathan's really ignorant right now, so I'm trying to take advantage of this time for some character development in terms of thoughts, as well as some other things.

Qi: Revisted

"...so i suppose everything has give and take."

Unspoken suspicions were correct then. If he had been hit by those first two punches, that fight would've been over before it even started. Jonathan had no Qi that he knew of. Not yet, anyways, but...

Qi. Power beyond what he currently had. What he could utilize strength beyond any strength he could ever attain. He looked at the juice box. Just like him.. frail... having structure, but so easy to crush...

The box was squeezed, till it caved. No juices left to spill out of it. Just crushed. Empty and hollow. Sort of like him. Funny how you could relate yourself to an inanimate object.

smiling as he heard this. "well, i was in the middle of a fight, i clenched my fists as hard as i could, and it felt like i could do more once my fist was tightly balled up, then i was able to use my Qi, as i said, its probrably different for everyone. i'm sure Qi is possible to attain, but it may depend on how you go about it, rather than just going for it. the best way i think i can help you is to ask this question 'in our fight, did you feel something odd about it? like you could have done something else to dodge or block more effectively?'" he wanted to know, hoping this could narrow the search down a bit

Ehh... hm. Interesting question, actually. Could he have dodged that a little bit better? Granted, now that was something he hadn't thought of. By diverging the paths of both fists, he managed to avoid the real damage. But, ultimately, he just wasn't strong enough to withstand it. All that he could think of was to simply train more. Provided, that's why he fought in the first place. To get stronger, even if only a little bit...

"...I-I c-can't s-say th-that I-I r-regret m-my a-actions, b-but, I-I'm s-sure th-there w-would've b-been a-a b-better w-way t-to a-avoid th-that a-attack. H-However, m-my b-body i-isn't f-fully d-disciplined y-yet, s-still n-new t-to th-the e-environment..."

Quietly, he stood up.. and walked around the tree.. There was something that he needed to say. Only reason why. His face was solid as usual.. showing no emotions. Just his eyes were alive.

"...B-But, y-you m-made y-yourself t-too o-obvious... a-although, I-I s-suppose i-it's h-hard t-to h-hide i-intent.."

Eyes... locked onto Ichimaru's, as he stared at him, arms wrapped around himself.

"...T-The i-intent th-that's i-in y-your e-eyes."

An intent that not even he could hide.

smiles a bit "i suppose your right, i can't hide my intent, but my intent is to fight, the reason behind it is to become better. i like that goal, its fairly easy to get to, but always heightens and you always have something to strive for" he said, a flicker in his eyes he wanted to spar someone again. "anyway. i ask not for you to question your actions, or my actions, i ment if you felt like you could try or do something you didnt think would work. like if you moved fast, and you knew you where moving at top speed but felt like you could push faster. that kind of thing"
