"Xiella. Aureus." She repeated, committing the names to memory, and marking them off on the attendance list. There were a few students missing, and they would pay for it. But that wasn't important now. She placed the list back on her desk, clapping her hands together once, the bracelts on her wrists jingling.
"Brilliant, let's get started. We'll begin with clay today, because it's fun and allows for a more hands-on approach to art. There are two forms of art when working with clay. Working by hand, and throwing." She said, though making a face. "Not actual throwing, that is the term used for facilitating the use of a pottery wheel." She gestrued over to the side where five pottery wheels sat with stools and pedals on the floor. "I will be giving you a certain amount of clay, and it is up to you what you will make. Generally with this sort of assignment, I may ask for you to hand in what you make by the end of the class, unless you have made quite a bit of progress and could use more time. Once we begin bigger projects, you will have a longer timespan to complete them."
She walked over to a large metal cabinet, opening it and removing a big block of clay in a bag and a metal wire with two wooden toggels at each end. She placed these on her desk. "Grading is objective, mostly, but I will also be watching your effort during the class period. If you slack off, your grade will suffer. There is no such thing as 'can't' in my classroom." She picked up the wire by the toggels and sliced through the giant block, cutting off three pieces. She tossed two onto the students desks with a large plop.
She grinned.."You may begin."

Clay? Of all things, clay? What am I supposed to do with this? the Pillar wondered as he sat staring at the firm, earthy material. After three minutes of doing nothing, the Junior picked up the clay and began sculpting the first thing that came to mind: a panda.
Why a panda? Well, he wasn't really sure. Aureus didn't particularly like pandas, but he didn't dislike them, it had just struck him as the right thing to make. And so he squished, pulled, rounded, pressed, and every other action that came to mind. His progress wasn't bad, and you could almost see the animal begin to take shape.

(... I hope you guys don't mind me joining ) A young woman dashed through the hallways, well... she was LATE for her 2nd class - art. Well, she looked forward to this class since she was already an established graphic novelist. She stopped in front of a door that said "Art Class" ... ok. This was it! Hopefully, the teacher won't crack her neck for being a couple of minutes late. Stupid place had to be so big. Emily opened the door slowly and poked her head inside, looking around if it was safe. She was quiet as usual and only looked at the teacher without a sound, as if asking her for permission to enter.

[ooc; Not at all!! The more the merrier! Xiella may be missing for a while because of internetz issuez, so we can assume she is working for now, and she is welcome to jump back in when she returns.]
Olivia glanced up as a student poked her head into the doorway, looking sheepish. "You're late, come in. I won't give out punishment today because it is the first day, but after this, I will not be merciful. Please take a seat." She tossed the slab of clay she had in her hand onto the other desk next to the kid named Aureus before going to cut another one for herself. "Ask one of the students to catch you up, as I do not repeat myself to those who don't care enough to be present when I give instructions. We're starting with clay today, you may do whatever you wish, and then we will begin actual lessons."
She went over and turned on a paint and clay splattered stereo, and it began to play 'here is gone' by the goo goo dolls. Music helped spur creativity, Olivia believed, plus, it was better than silence. After cutting her own slab of clay from the block on her desk, she went over and placed it one of the throwing wheels, where a small oval sponge and cup of water rested as well. She placed her foot on the pedal and it began to spin.

Interesting. It looks as if they were assigned to make something out of clay. Emily took her seat and looked around - being never one to talk much - to observe what the other students were doing. After a couple of minutes, the young girl would look at her slab of clay and try to visualize what she wanted to make out of it. A vase seemed practical, but the idea was overused as half of the students, as she had observed, already had done the idea. Maybe she should do something abstract for a change - but Emily wasn't an abstract artist. She was a MANGAKA for crying out loud. She sighed and decided maybe she should just think up of something randomly - such as a full bloomed rose, which she decided would be a good idea. All she had to do was form a bud, then put in petals and add details like leaves and such. Emily then began working on making that rose. She divided her share of clay to a ratio of 1:2:1. The first one was for that bud, another was for the base so that the flower would stand, and lastly... the larger share was for the petals, leaves and other things that she thought up of. Most people would think making a flower out of clay was easy - it was actually a particularly tedious task. The clay petals had to be placed carefully as that one side wouldn't look too thin or too thick, or the petals wouldn't turn out to be too thin that it would bend out of shape after a few minutes or be too thick that it would not look like a petal at all. She took out a little pointed stick and set it aside so she could work on the smaller details later on. Emily took a deep breath and prayed silently, clutching her hands together for 2 seconds before her hands made it's magic on clay. Well, to use the term magic would be an exaggeration. Emily would just do her best. The teenager worked on the ball rather quickly, being good with her hands and started out on the petals - one by one. Emily was now VERY concentrated on what she was doing and looked at how the entire thing was doing every few petals and so - so far it looked just as she had planned. She was really putting in a lot of effort on this - and it seemed as if she wanted to take the entire day off just to have this thing finished as beautifully as she could. But all things that are beautiful take time to create. As a tree sapling evolves into a tall and majestic tree - it takes time. (I think I overdid this post I was in a good writing mood lawl.)
