Hello, my name is Mikey and I've been noticing a lot of people who are still trying to get caught up on the current storyline. If there are any questions, please feel free to IM me or send me a PM on my "Unfettered" account.
I will be striving for accuracy, though the main admin (Leon) retains the right to correct any potential errors made during my explanations, estimates, theories, and occasional guesses.
Q: "Woah I just rejoined and holy shit I have no idea what happened! HALP!"
Q: "What's the state of California? The world?"
Q: "What does an average street look like?"
Q: "What's the population of the area focussed on in the game?"

A: First, welcome back!
Second, the Fate of 259 is a long, winding story at this point, so you are only recommended on reading it if you wish to confuse yourself further (I have attempted to include summaries of the entirety of the thread in my IC-post).
The skin-and-bones version of the current situation is explained thus in this announcement of the Explained Past & Present.
I have included a slightly more indepth explanation (with a huge IC-slant to it) in one of my personal Spam posts.
If this is still too much, here's the situation as concise as humanely possible:

If this is still too much, here's the situation as concise as humanely possible:
- This is fighting-oriented RP with exaggerated physics, dubbed "XIN Physics."
- This site used to be centered around a school in Long Beach, called Public High School #259.
- The long standing bad guy, Sean Barker, made a threat against the school, two weeks or so prior to the events of "Fate". The school prepared itself against Barker, evacuating students and preparing those that were willing to defend the place where they had grown up.
- The Police did shit because in this storyline they are unreliable and never seem to show up when they would probably be needed.
- Barkers attack against 259 was a ploy to distract the school, its students, and its knowledgeable supervisor, Mr. Asiv, from his real ploy: Blowing up and taking over the world.
Q: "What's the state of California? The world?"
A: This question encapsulates a huge overlap of categories. I will begin with a micro explanation and progress onto the macro. To start, California has been bombed out. Hundreds, maybe thousands of missiles were launched in the air, during the events of Fate onto California. There appears to have been no sense of discrimination as the missiles were seen to having blasted up the roads, houses, company buildings, everything. Some houses, restaurants, and other such structures were lucky and remained intact, but thousands of people have died and thousands more are homeless.
And then, Barker and his forces emerged from underground and took over most of Southern California, as can be seen in the Sphere of Influence. Any survivors residing in Barker's territory is subjected to enslavement, their families captured and the fit and capable forced to work and fight for Barker, further bolstering Barker's numbers.
The Government in California, based in Sacramento (not viewable on the current "Sphere of Influence's" Southern California Map), has been destroyed. The military, shown in the "U.S. Military & Police Forces" territory can be assumed to be autonomous, based on old ranks of the Pre-Fate world and are assumed an aggregate of active Police and Military personnel who are providing a "safe haven" in immediate response to the quickly pronounced Barker threat. This does not mean that 100% of the police and military based in California have gathered there, but that a large number of them are indeed there.
With most urban and suburban areas bombed out, the Dollar ($) has essentially become useless. Delivery trucks no longer come, there is no Garbage man, gas stations sales go final---there is no restocking.
On top of this, there is no internet, most electronics (including cars) have been destroyed by EMP (others may have survived by luck or EMP protection), and special bomb targeting specifically gun powder has rendered gunpowder completely useless.
As there is no government-funded union, system or anything that still works, the clean-up of debris and the dead bodies is left to the survivors. Dust is a huge issue, which would likely make the wearing of ponchos and other cloak-like wear more readily popular where it can be salvaged. Poison by decaying bodies is a real threat, lawlessness reigns and people are left to fend for themselves. Without the ability to restock on medicines and immunizations, certain common diseases have become several-fold more deadly.
It does not appear that any nuclear power plants have been the targets of the missiles, such as in San Onofre.
Most phones do not work. Most satellites (though not all) have been destroyed by missile attacks.
On a global scale, we know that there is no government left in the world left standing all of them having been completely and thoroughly destroyed by the apparent world-wide missile attack. This expands the former thought of thousands of missiles to potentially millions. While not every country seems to have been evenly affected, there are some that have ended up better than most, though most of what applies in California applies throughout the world evenly as well (no internet, gunpowder, electronics).
Player Characters and moderators from foreign countries may dictate the current state of foreign countries.
Every known surviving Enforcer Corporation now works autonomously...
