John would reach over and grab the hammer pulling it around and putting the head of the hammer to the ground before leaning on the handle.
"Alrighty. Thats a nice story, but I dont play that game."
John would then swing the hammer towards Mathew's left side.

Mathew didn't move when the hammer started to fall, but a blunted spike of Earth would shoot out to intercept the hammer. Attempting to smash in to it and disarm the former classmate.

Hapheastus hammer was indeed halted, and ripped from his hand, but John would have let go and moved forward without breaking stride and throwing a right quick jab for Mathew's face.
He completely was not expecting the earth to fight him, but this guy was an elemental like the others.

Mathew's left hand shot up to catch the fist, his hand squeezing tightly. His right hand would shoot forward in a jab at the kid's face.

By the time John was able to see the fist moving it was in his face, and his head was forced back, the guy had speed and power. He wasn't slacking at all. John would stay in place, out of sheer will to land a blow, finding his base with his feet he'd throw his other fist in a low uppercut aimed for Mathew's exposed or slightly exposed right side from his punch.

He let the blow land, but a flash of Qi would erupt protecting him from the blow and lashing out against John. Mathew would slam a knee as hard as he could in to the kid's stomach before shoving him back.

It felt like some sort of force from his own blow had hit him, exactly where he had hit Mathew, through the confusion he didn't expect the attack. The knee slamming his gut before he was pushed off, John would cough a bit, before finding his stance.

The earth shifted under the hammer, sliding it to Mathew who bent down to pick it up, testing the weight of it.

John would stop when the hammer started to move, and turn to watch Mathew.
"Generally. Still getting used to it."
A twinge started to hit him in his gut... He really needed to get some Brimstone before the withdrawls started kicking in.

He shifted it in his hand feeling the weight of it, heavy. Looked sturdy, and he could feel the energy within. He couldn't identify it yet, not without really taking the effort for it. He shifted it so that the handle was facing John.

John would move towards Mathew and take the handle of his hammer and put it back in the shieth on his back.

Mathew just walked away, heading toward the God territory. He would look for a Leon lead there.
