Roses By Any Other Name... [Mathew]

[Kyrie Blaze]

It was shortly after the fight with Rai, and the rest of the rules being laid out that Kyrie found herself outside, in the evening air. She had something to impart on Mathew, as giving him her loyalty and trust demanded nothing less.

He was right; the name Kiyr was a deception, as well, which was why only he would know her real name. Nobody else within the dwelling had her trust, or her loyalty, and she very much doubted that Raikotsu would, any time soon. The evening air was soft, and warm, with a pleasant breeze.

The slight blonde leaned into it, feeling and catching the moment of peace that was associated with the sense of weightlessness.

It was a nice evening. Kyrie doubted she would stay indoors tonight, or perhaps even most nights. Old habits died hard, and that went hand-in-hand with the issues of trust and loyalty.

Mathew left the dwelling a slice of pizza in his hand, or at least what was left of it. He finished off the crust before letting out a slow exhale. Totally hit the spot. Stuffed crust pepperoni. It was awesome and now he was stuffed.

He took a spot on the wall on the other side of the door as Kiyr, not saying a word but just enjoying the evening air. It was refreshing and so different from Seattle. Warmer for one, less humid. It was nice, brought back memories from his younger years.

The blonde didn't speak immediately, but instead gave Mathew his own dose of peace and solitude for the moment. It was a few minutes before she spoke.

'You were right, when you said that lying was like breathing. My name is not Kiyr, but Kyrie. Kyrie Elysia Barrial."

And Mathew was the only one she trusted enough, was loyal enough to, that she would willingly tell. If others found out through him, it would be a disappointment, but the point was in the person that she told, not who found out after that fact.

He looked over at her. His green eyes sweeping up and down her in the fading light. He was curious, as to why she hid that. Or why she was telling him now. It seemed an odd thing to randomly confess. Not that he was surprised that she lied about her name. As he had said, lying was as natural as breathing.

"Any particular reason why you hide that fact?"

[Kyrie Blaze]

"Personal safety. I have no need for the people I take from to know my real name. Word eventually circulates, and Kiyr is just a nickname of mine. I would hear before I got to another area, and adjust if I needed to."

She kept her ear to the ground. Running on rumour mills and the general grapevine was how she sussed out places, and the people were just a matter of watching and shadowing until she found her targets.

"The things I have done are not entirely honourable, nor am I overly proud of them. I trust no other, here, nor have I deigned to give them my loyalty. Save for you."

She could never betray him.

"That would make sense. Though I'm curious as to what I have done to earn your trust and loyalty so easily."

Not that he doubted it, since she gave it going back on that would not end well for her. If nothing else personal safety would keep her loyal to him. Because he would destroy her otherwise. Still, such an odd thing to pledge for someone like her. He was curious as to the reasoning.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie's eyes were soft as she watched the sun set, and for a moment o two, didn't seem to be too concerned with answering.

"I gave you my sincere word, and my word is all I have had for a very long time. It means something, for me. It may not have meant anything for you..." She looked over, "But I am always very careful with my words when I speak with people. I do not make promises, or I will be bound to do and keep them."

And the longer she stayed around instead of moving on, the harder it was to leave as she had a very high chance of growing attached.

"Well then, that's something we have in common. I treat my promises as law as well. And I make great efforts to not lie."

So he could understand the value of what she gave him. It was still just an interesting choice. Something very precious to give up so quickly.

"Do you think you will be the apprentice that is found most worthy to become a Dragon?"

Did she care about that?

[Kyrie Blaze]

As he didn't ask why, Kyrie wasn't ready to spill those beans unless he came out with that question. But she nodded at his first statements.

"It will be an adjustment. You can not simply undo seven years of living that way in one night."

She considered his question, giving it care as to how she thought it over. Rai was a challenge, at least. But then, he was the one that was at least better-nourished, and he had height and weight and gender advantages...but she wasn't going to let that stand in her way.

"I will give nothing less than everything I have until that is proven to be true."

And if her acting stint had been anything to judge by, she was going to go far.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"But in the end, do you think that you will beat him? Or lose after trying your hardest?"

[Kyrie Blaze]

"I will overcome the obstacle he presents. He will fail, and I will triumph." It was said quietly, but with certainty, after Kyrie took a brief moment.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"I see. Well then, you will need to unlock your spiritual potential. Won't you."

He said with a nod. The last part was more of a statement than a question. If she was going to be a Dragon, she would need to learn to harness her Qi.

[Kyrie Blaze]

"Indeed."

It didn't necessarily need to be agreed upon..and she didn't have even the faintest inkling of what it would be, but she was game.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Excellent. We can begin tonight. Have you ever meditated?"

[Kyrie Blaze]

Tonight? Mathew sure didn't waste time.

"It has been a few years."

Quite a few. Meditation was a luxury you didn't get when you had to be constantly aware. She'd done some, or perhaps quite a bit in different ways, when her parents allowed her to partake in learning Wing Chun.
