He watched as Kiyr lead the man away before his eyes shot back to Rai.
"Sit."

Rai would sit, he knew that this was coming but hopefully it wouldn't be his death.

Mathew couldn't even find the words. He began to pace back and forth in short rapid cycles. The ground rumbling before he stopped and turned to Rai. His foot stomping slightly and a pillar of stone shot up in an attempt to slam in to his face.
"What the fuck is wrong with you? How do you think you can become a Dragon if you can't even think about simple situations?"

Rai wouldn't move he would deserve any punishment the earth dragon flung at him, and it hurt bad.
"I made a mistake, but I didn't see him to be of any threat if I thought he was capable of being stronger than me then I wouldn't have lead him anywhere, but I figured my upbringing vs his vagabond ways would be me at the better end of the deal, and with your limited training I have become somewhat stronger and I didn't fear him."

"It's not about him being a threat. There are rules. We don't escort strangers through our lands. And when we do, it's done by someone in the gang, generally a couple people. Or by someone like me or Blaze. Actual Dragons."
He sighed harshly.
"You're problem Rai, is that you don't seem to understand your position. You want to be a Dragon. And I am giving you a chance to learn out of respect for Leon. But that means you think. You do what you are told, even if you don't want to or you think there are more important things to do. If you want to learn how to be strong, you need to deal with being weak first."
He shook his head, angry and disappointed.
"You could learn a lot from Kiyr. She tries, she is dedicated, she knows her place, and she is clever."
He let that sink in.
"After what you have been showing me here, and at the underground base. What do you have to offer? Because I am not seeing it right now."

"You call me a fool. More like Kiyr? Shes nothing but a dog that runs to her masters biddings, her only goal in life seems to be to make me look bad and she doesn't even fully understand me before making assumptions. Kiyr is a fool, she goes in underestimating everyone she meets unless they have a name for them self. She thinks shes better than everyone one that is on the side of the street without a second thought, that is foolish. I am her main rival and she hasn't talked to me even once to find out what makes me tick, how to get in my head, she just stares at me and makes snarky faces when I have something to say. She is your star pupil because she has no real ambition. Though I will admit that I am wrong in not obey you at times and that will be corrected starting now. Your word is law and my place is where ever you tell me it is. But understand this, don't be like your star pupil and start to underestimate me."

"Have you approached her to see how she ticks? Or are you just making assumptions about her and underestimating her?"
He raised an eyebrow at Rai.
"And I would say she is a very ambitious girl. But if you want to say she isn't and that she is a fool then that is your business. But you do not have to worry about me underestimating either of you, because it's your job to make that impossible."
That's why there were two of them.
"My job isn't to see which one of you is the most worthy. You two need to show it."

Rai looked Matthew in the eye, no joking in his face nothing that would represent the typical mask of easy going that Rai normally wore, this was his true face, how he really looked and expressed his feeling towards the world. His face was cold, there was no love, no playfulness, nothing but stone cold seriousness. This was the face of someone that would kill and could kill without a second thought.
"I am the most worthy, and I WILL prove it. I don't care what it'll take to prove it to you I will get it done."

David had said nothing through it all, leaning back against the wall as Matt had pummeled the newcomer. He stared at Rai, watching Kiyr. Watching them all and how they worked.
Still, saying nothing.
There would come a time when he would speak...but right now, words failed him. If it were one of his own men, he would have been thrown out of Dragon territory as a traitor.
But it wasn't. It was Matts apprentice. And the fellow was not yet a dragon, nor was he taught as one. So, the punishment would be Amtrums, though if the showboating continued on Rais part, He was liable to receive a little...test.

"No, you are not the most worthy. You allow your ego and fantasies to cloud your perceptions. The mistakes that you made today show that you are not only far from your goal, but the sheer disbelief of what you did leaves me at a loss for a proper punishment."
He was showing a lot of restraint right now. And he was physically holding himself back from snapping Rai's neck right now.
"Right now I am embarrassed to call you apprentice. And you are on your last chance before I kick you to the curb."
He began to pace a circle around Rai, shaking his head as he infused the ground with his Qi, giving David a glance. He was embarrassed. Once the circle was complete Rai would begin to sink in to the ground. If he didn't move he would sink to be neck deep in stone.
"You will stay there until I figure out what to do with you."
Without food and water of course and helpless to defend himself against anything.

As he started sinking he would stand up spread his legs and cross his arms behind his back looking like a prisoner of war never once taking his eyes off of Matthew.
"As you wish, my master."
He would sink down to his neck and wait fro Matthews punishment, and he would starve and thirst until the time came if he should have too.

David would walk over and crouch in front of Rai, resting on his haunches as he spoke, softly, so Mathew could barely hear, or possibly not hear at all.
"I understand what you were trying to do. You have the desire. But your heart and mind and will have to think in unison."
He expected Rai to stay silent, and would continue.
"I'm going to give you something. Something that is both a blessing, and a curse. You see, you were trying to help, I know. But you endangered my men, and my own life. That, I simply can't walk away from. You will get very little sleep while you sit out here, thinking things over. Take it while you can get it."
David would cock back his right arm and throw a debilitating blow for Rai's temple, the idea being?
Why, to knock his ass out, of course.
He would get sleep- the gift.
He'd wake up with one hell of a migrane, and probably wouldn't catch much, if any sleep again while he was in this state- the curse.
Aftrward, David would stand, and turn to Mathew.
"I respect this kid's desire to do good, and that he is your apprentice. But if he endangers our lives again, I will snatch his life away."
A sad smile. Mathew, he was sure, understood the necessity.
"That is, if you don't get to him first."

Mathew laughed at David's words, not to worried about him hitting the kid and knocking him out. That was fine. But all things considered this was a funny situation. David threatening his life and all.
"And here I was trying to think of ways to punish him without killing him. Out of respect for your do gooder heart."
He found it ironic.

The corner of his mouth would turn up.
"If that man turns out to be a spy, and my men die for it, who is to blame? It's the risk factor I must weigh. We are at war- and as such, I have to pick which good is the greater good. This one life? Or a theoretical many?"
David was not a murderer, but as a leader of an army, there were duties he had, and watching over his men and their families were one of them. If they were threatened, he would ghost the threat. That was his sacrifice.

"Glad to see you have grown up some David. We are in full agreement. Another fuck up of this magnitude then it would be a mercy to end his life before he brings ruin to those close to him."
He said as he folded his arms. He had planned to give him a bit of pain, but David had knocked him out. He could wait though. That was fine.
"I think you should induct both Kiyr and Rai in to the Dragons. If they are going to be living here and working out of here, they might as well earn their keep as well as train under me. They took the last stronghold with me, so they won't wet themselves in battle. Besides, it might be good for them."
He smirked.
"After all, gangs made you and me who we are today. Didn't they."
