Shadows of Meditation [Mathew]

[Kyrie Blaze]

The kick was somewhat unexpected. She was caught up in the play of lift and shadow as she retracted her feet to flip backwards.

Instead, she was sent spinning over on a diagonal, and tumbled once before she regained the control necessary to roll up onto her feet, hands up and rocking into the basic stance of her fighting style.

Her breathing was still controlled, which was good.

The spot on her shins where he caught her hurt like hell, though.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Good recovery. Similar to one of my moves." He said with a wicked grin.

He rushed forward, his body diving in to a roll before he reached striking range. His hands pushing against the ground to lift his body up, feet shooting outwards to try and plant in to her face.

Miss or hit he would twist his body as he fell to rotate himself on his arms and bring his legs whipping around in a full body sweep attack.

There was a blink at the compliment, maybe the beginning of a tiny smile, and then he was closing the distance. Her mind flashed back to Leon, while noting the warning Mathew had given her, and she wasted no time in throwing herself back.

Unfortunately, she still wasn't fast enough. His kick sent her flying with a hard clip to her jaw. It hurt like nobody's business, and a scream erupted in her throat, but it wasn't let free, though it was still audible.

Her vision darkened and dimmed, and she feared she would pass out before she could save herself, though she reacted on all of her instincts to make a safe landing despite the pain and shadowed lines dancing before her eyes.

Kyrie swayed slightly as she regained her feet, eyes immediately seeking out her adversary. Her teacher.

By the time she was done picking herself up Mathew was standing up again once more. Nodding with her moves. Good instinct, reaction time needed work. But her mental focus? He didn't know.

"Right. Now then. Were you able to reach your center in combat?"

Probably not, but maybe? Either way, he planned to switch her and Rai up next. Have him try it in combat, and her with pain.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie considered the question, then breathed out in disappointment.

"Not all things are easy. I think I may need at least one more session."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"I would be very surprised if you mastered this in your first session. It takes time. And I will be switching up how I handle both you and Rai. You need to be adaptable. Both of you do."

[Kyrie Blaze]

"I noticed that mine has certain variations from his." She nodded slowly.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Because you fucking dodged."

Glare.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie gains a slightly sheepish expression.

"I suppose I have eyes in the back of my head, under all my hair."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"That or you are some kind of tricky little hobbit..."

[Kyrie Blaze]

With the same expression, she seemed to consider it a moment before it smoothed out a little, becoming a tad more amused. She inclined her head, ever-so-slightly.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"So you should get back to meditating, and I'm going to go and get something to eat. Because I am hungry."

He inclined his head and made his way back to the house.

"Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeon! You should power the house so we can make pizza!"
