Waking up I see that everything is ok
The first time in my life and now it's so great
Slowing down I look around and I am so amazed

As a gift from an anonymous person, Jenesis was given an MP3 player with only one song. So the wingless blonde haired girl walked through the halls, ignoring the stares she received from many who stood idly by. She walked with grace, no longer the wings holding her down, and this somehow made her look years older, and more aware of the world. Her hair was no longer in two pigtails, but in one high pony tail with a simple rubber band instead of a large ribbon. A cold, distant look was seen in her eyes, her face void of smiles and laughter. She had been through hell and back the last week, getting a lot of unwanted attention from the media. Her story was all over the news, so everywhere she went, people stared at her and followed. And she was told by her lawyer that once this was brought into the courtroom, there would only be more publicity.

Good for him, bad for her.

"Your parents must really suck!"

A kid joked aloud, but those around him didn't laugh. She was pitied, and she was sick of it. No longer did she have the wings on her back, but instead, multiple stitches that kept her from falling apart. They couldn't see it because it was underneath the layers of clothing Jenesis had on, but it wasn't pretty. Wasn't beautiful, but it was worth it.

Her body whipped around to face the boy who had said that, eyes nearly glaring daggers at him as she did so. Although her parents had been the ones who made her into a science experiment, she still loved them. They had been the ones to raise her, to take care of her. Yes, she loathed them at the same time, to the point where Jenesis would rather be in an orphanage until she either got adopted or of age to live on her own. Though she could never fully hate them to want to kill.

She launched herself at him, left hand grabbing at his collar, right arm pushing against his neck as she slammed him against the locker, her toes standing on his to avoid any kicking. His arms were free, but they were grabbing at her arm because she was choking him.

Her words were like ice, and after a moment of keeping him there in that position, she backed off.

Zan was the type of person who didn't watch the news. In fact, news bothered him to the point of annoying-the-hell out of him. The weather? A rainy day, a sunny day, whichever day didn't matter- as long as a new day approached. World news? Let it slide by, nothing which concerned him anyways. Politics? One word: yuck!

Walking down one of the many halls within the school, Zanathos looked around at the people who were whispering amongst themselves and doing meaningless things. Such gossip- that was another thing which was just as bad as news. It was damn gossip. Gossip spread like an infectious disease; once it infected a person, that person would infect another and so on. Thus, it had the potency of a WMD and the proliferating quality akin to wildfires. Besides that, nothing else really irked him.

"Damn...these people are really gossiping today- wonder what all of it's about."

Although he disliked it, the gossip fueled his curiosity. Refraining from such a pointless desire, he trudged onward, carrying his heavy backpack, which was slung across his shoulder. Turning a corner with a crowd of people peeking around it, Zan passed by them without much concern and headed down the "new" hall. He immediately spotted the source of such curiosity: a girl was confronting a young man in the hallway. She must have a legit reason for doing so, but nevertheless the whispering was louder here. He wondered if she was pissed by the gossip as much as he was- after all, this talk could drive one insane. He approached and asked her

"Hey, the gossip getting on your nerves too?"

The girl looked pretty pissed, yet the guy had disappeared, probably back to his little clique. People started to go away litle by little, and the whispering died down- for now.

The anger on her face was a facade and a block for some of the emotions that were overwhelming. She wanted to cry, but she was holding it in, and was instead replacing it with anger. She was confused, but wouldn't let it show, hurt, but locked that in a box. But when a boy approached her in such a manner where it seemed as if he didn't know anything, she broke. Jenesis was never really good with hiding emotions in the first place, nor was she good with all this negativity she was feeling, simply because she rarely ever felt them. The reason she was trying so hard to hide them is because she really didn't want to talk with the school counselor. They told her that she - the counselor - would be her friend, but what good is a friend when friends lie more than enemies?

Was she being dramatic? Too emotional? No. She was under a lot of stress, and Jenesis simply did not know how to deal with it. With all that's been going on in her life, one would say that this was normal. She was offered two weeks off to simply stay at home while the court cases continued on, but she didn't want to miss school just because of this. She wouldn't let it ruin the other part of her life.

But it had.

Everywhere she went she received pity glances from people, heard whispers from one to another, got 'special' treatment. But the way this boy approached her, it was almost a relief.

So through the tears and the light sob, she managed to break out a smile.

"..thanks."

She didn't answer his question, nor did she ever plan on answering it.

Zan paused for a moment as she responded to his question with an answer which was tangent to it. Thanks...

He noticed her sadness, the tears and the light sobs she was emitting. Feeling quite awkward, he was at a loss for words....he didn't know what was going on, who this person was, and what all the gossip was for. He approached her with caution, trying his best to maintain a friendly atmosphere.

He wondered what was wrong with her....and he was afraid to ask.

"So, how are you doing?"

He didn't want to get the conversation started on the wrong foot. after all, he had just met this person- why not try to get to know them.
