The two men did halt when asked looking to the ones who stopped them. One was short, and seemed to be malnourished. His red hair and green eyes where offset by his brother who was taller, muscular but still not well fed. He had black hair and brown eyes, and instead of pale skin he was slightly tanned. The taller brother would answer while the smaller stayed quiet.
"No, sir not yet. We've been traveling for some time and heard this place was free of Barker."

" I'm not hungry. Thank you though- the Heminn Megin* takes a toll, and eating directly after sleep can cause rather....vomitous side effects." Delilah chucked softly, silencing herself as Oliver stirred in his sleep. She stroked his white hair, making soothing shushing noises. Not a big deal; it would still be there for him if he wanted it later." I am wide awake, now, if you would like to sleep...?" Delilah gave a shake of her head. "Would you be able to sleep if I was lying physically exhausted and injured in your territory without a viably safe means of returning to my territory until well again?" Her right lid closed and opened and there was the hint of a tired smile on her lips.
"Besides, all nighters are a hazard of the job."
. . .
With a brusque air, the man handed off the clipboard to one of the privates, who immediately began taking notes, highlighting the features of the men as he saw them.
"No trouble, no trouble. We get refugees all the time. We just have to register you, for securities sake. You understand.
"So. Names? Will you be staying in the territory long? You are welcome to stay if it suits you."

The man would answer a smile on his face as he seemed joyous about the situation.
"Thank you, we understand fully. I am Kile Colonel. And he is my brother Law Colonel. We are brothers. We hope to stay for as long as possible, but understand the world now is constantly changing."

David smiled.
“I guess not. I’d rather you not have to pull one though. I can head home, if it’s more convenient, though there are some other things we need to discuss.”
He would take a seat next to her, a smile on his lips as he watched her with her kid.
OOC: Short, sorry

There wasn't much for Kyrie to say. In fact, she simply let them talk while remaining attentive and as watchful as ever. The words she paid attention to, but only in case she was needed, and the tone of their voices was more what she was inherently listening for. She found herself tempted to brace a heel against the edge of the chair and quietly exhaled. It was a staggered sound, something of a chuff of quiet laughter at herself for a joke of bad table manners.
Nibble nibble num~
Chili. So good. Even though she'd never been a huge fan of beans...clearly her opinion had changed. Kyrie had gone hungry too long to be picky. All of the food was wonderful and delicious. Funny how you could appreciate it more and delight in all of the tastes and textures when you were, even now, almost constantly hungry.

Delilah lifted an eyebrow in curiosity, shifting her blue eyes to peer into David's as he sat down beside her. Her fingers still worked through the stark white hair of the boy snuggled in her lap, soothing and habitual.
She rarely got to do this with him anymore; usually, she was so damn busy. He was soothing an ache in her heart she didn't know she had...without knowing it, as days wore on with shortened lengths of contact with Oliver, Delilah had begun to miss her son.
"What would you like to discuss?"
. . . The names were quickly jotted down by the private holding the clipboard, as well as a quick description of the men's features. "No trouble," the captain repeated, nodding brusquely, "Everyone is allowed in our territory. If you want full citizenship, you'll have to get a job; we have several available. Then, you'll be given a residence and trade rights with our vendors in the area. If you'd rather not remain affiliated, you will be given shelter in a temporary housing station where rations are provided. "Our borders are safe, and if a Barker incursion were to occur, we have a powerful army that will fight to protect your home. Still, if you'd rather just pass through, that's understandable. Questions so far, gentlemen?"

Kile would think for a moment as Law stayed silent and looked at the guys.
"Well I'd like a job for sure. But Law here... He'd probably be best suited if you'd allow for him to join your military. He's a pretty good fighter and he used to be a cop."
