And Lucien had the sudden urge to turn invisible again. But, he decided that this was not a reprimand, simply a talk. So...
"I knew he was interested in joining the Crows. For the most part, I ignored it. I knew he used to work for Mr. Barker, and I knew how he disrespected the Dragons. But, he pleaded with me for a chance, so I took him to the most trustworthy person I know." He tried desperately to hold eye contact with her, but his gaze inevitably dropped a few times until it finally rested on the floor.

Delilah studied the narrow, young man before her for a time. She believed him. Thoroughly. He knew this young man was, perhaps, not the right fit for Crows, but at his insistence, brought him anyway.
"It's alright."
She smiled at him.
"I'm glad you brought him to me personally. It let him see for himself that there are some who would not be swayed. The kid is an idiot if he thinks he can get away with that and not suffer consequences."
A thoughtful pause as she looked at him up and down. "I won't tell you what to do, Lucien. He is your...'friend'. As long as you see him off Crow territory, everything is fine.
"But, I would caution you that the company you keep might hinder yourself in the eyes of others. Not myself and not Crows, but with other gangs. Sider is not exactly the most loved person in Long Beach right now," a small smile. She had seen to that.
"Just remember that you're a Crow. You are an ambassador for our organization when you leave our territory for whatever reason. Remember that if you cross path's with the Dragons or the Gods. BE POLITE.
"Or I'll find you~.
"Okay?"

Lucien nodded. He had remembered, and he would continue to. It was true some small part of him still called Sidervib 'friend', but he, too, had felt disrespected by his actions.
"I understand that, I really do. I think I'll stay away from Sidervib for a while, though. I have a few friends who are Dragons, and I don't want those relationships to be compromised by something so trivial as 'someone I hang around with'."
And, Lucien then did something he didn't do that often. He stepped forward, with a serious look on his face. And he looked Delilah right in the eyes, his gaze not faltering. It was a rare moment, indeed.
"As a Crow, I'll follow you to the ends of the earth and back, because you're my leader. I would do the same for Zero Winters, and for Marcus." He paused as he smiled at her, keeping his gaze steady. "But, even if I wasn't a Crow, and you weren't my First... I'd still do the same."
Friendship is magic.

Delilah blinked in surprise at his words, the mild emotion clearly showing on her face. She managed to continue meeting his gaze, but only barely. Blue eyes swam with tears of gratitude...and a little bit of sadness. She didn't want people to die for her...but the fact that he was willing spoke volumes about his character.
The First stepped forward and placed a hand on Lucien's shoulder.
"I sincerely hope that will never be necessary. And...thank you, Brother."
Deeply touched and still smiling down at him fondly.
Then she jabbed his forehead with her finger.
"To be honest, I was a little worried you might be concerned by the way I took care of Sider."

There was a really nice moment there, and Lucien felt a real, solid, human connection with Delilah. It was the kind of thing he loved about having real, true conversations with people, which was all too rare in times like these. He loved these moments, and savoured them...
Then he got poked in the head.
Moment's gone.
"Why would I be? The only reason I didn't act is because I didn't feel it was my place to."

"Even when I got really angry and dragged him out the door by his hair?" she couldn't help but grin a little.
"Some might think that was too much."

Lucien smiled.
"Well, I wouldn't have done that. His hair looked pretty oily..."
And oh, how that would be a pain to wash out of his fingernails... It would take hours!
"But, you had every right. I would have kicked him out, too."

She nodded, glad he agreed. Trying not to laugh about the oily hair thing, both because it had been oily and because Lucien sounded so serious about it.
"That's good. No Crow should be pushed around."
She looked out the garage's door, noting the time. She looked back at Lucien.
"You oughta go get some breakfast before your shift starts. You take care...and I'll be talking to you soon."

Lucien blinked. He had totally lost track of time. What time was it? Well, it was well-lit outside, so...
So he was late.
"Oh, oh my! I really should go," He replied, backing up and preparing to run out into the hallway. Then he paled.
"I still need to comb my hair!"
And he bolted out, leaving the room and running back to his quarters.
