Chi scowled when he said he had quit, but in the end he needed it. Aureus had said he needed it to protect her, and yet she'd still gotten hurt, and they'd gotten hurt. People were not weak, they simply magnified the weakness within themselves. She'd learned this, from her cold manipulative beginning, to her problems with Karel, her work with Valekin, and nearly everyone who had once been in her life was gone and she was alone....and expecting.
"Once you run out you are not to seek anymore, alright?"
She asked, though her voice suspiciously lacked a bargaining tone.
"I have seen that drug destroy people. It doesn't make you stronger like you would hope, in the end you are left weaker than you could imagine, and you know that."
She looked back at him, her dark eyes blazing, her mouth set in a line. So far he was the only friend she had left, and she wasn't going to sit around and let him destroy himself with the very thing he was going to try and destroy.
"What can I do?"
That was her not so out of the way way of accepting his proposition.

John thought on how his Qi had been acting up lately, a lot weaker than before since he restarted taking the brimstone and he had seen it destroy the original S.H.C.P before Winters came along. And he knew it was more of a crutch that he didn’t need than a tool to make him stronger. He nodded and closed his eyes when she told him not to look for anymore when he ran out. And he hadn’t had any for two or three days.
“Well for right now, I need someone who can think… Differently than me. I know where Asiv’s secret lab is and the password, I just don’t understand anything in it, and I’m sure it will take more than just us, so I’m going to look for more help… If you can get help for us as well that would be great.”
He was technically saying that right now he was winging it. He had no direction, and just a basic idea. Not to mention his way of thinking was to just smash it, but he also knew that would get him no where.

Secret lab? Now that was news to her. If it was Asiv's, was it in this very building? Or somewhere very clandestine? It would almost be ingenious to keep it here, right under everyone's noses. Chihiro had never known Asiv personally, but she'd heard all of the rumours. That he had died to save the kids here, and now, that he had developed a deadly drug, and had a secret laboratory.
"I can't promise anything, because almost everyone I knew before I moved away has disappeared. You're the first friendly face I've seen, John."
Max, Aureus, Atticus...all gone. Saint, she hadn't seen him in ages, nor the nice girl Calamity or the young man who owned the restaurant. She'd never been formally introduced to him. Kevin was still back in Pennsylvania, and he'd nearly found out her identity when she was posing as Juniper Ao. Maybe she should try making some new friends...but making friends had always been hard for Chihiro. Someone always ended up getting hurt.
"But as long as you promise to stay away from that Brimstone, I'll do what I can to help you bring down Barker."

John gave a half grin. Finally, his first allie… Felt odd though. He’s never had a… Friend before. He nodded when she said that he was the first friendly face she had seen. He also nodded when she told him that she would help him destroy Barker as long as he stayed away from Brimstone. Wouldn’t be that hard considering the last time he quit he almost died.
“Thanks Chi. I’ll be quitting soon, considering the amount I have left, but I’m trying to slow off of it, instead of stopping cold like last time. I’m going to go get some attention and see what the pick is like around here since I’ve been gone, I’ll meet you back here after lunch.”

She told him regarding his addiction to the Brimstone. He had said that often the payment of withdrawal was death, but there had to be a way around it. When he told her to meet up after lunch she nodded, though she wouldn't be attending classes. Technically she didn't go here anymore, it was kind of saddening, really. But she still had that intern interview to go to, and later see if that restaurant owner was still hiring. And, oh yeah. Possibly a place to stay.
"I'll see you then."
