It was a good move, and if Mathew was not so stupidly strong it could have been devastating. As it was most of his attack was nullified as his hand slice across the man's chest instead of slamming in to his armpit. The thought entered his mind to send the stone shooting out of that arm as a blade. It would be a fun lesson, but no. Maybe if he was inducted. He wanted to see how creative the man could fight, and how long he could last.
The legs planted in to Mathew's chest and Mathew once again didn't seem phased by the attack, nor would he let go of the man. So as he pushed himself off of Mathew with his kick the Dragon would just pull him back as he rose up a knee. His aim was to pull him in to the knee slam, but so far the stranger seemed good at adapting.
He had to admit, he was excited to see if the man had any other tricks up his sleeve. He hoped he did, he did not want this to be over to quickly. He wanted to get a detailed read on this new variable and to asses his potential use.

It was becoming increasingly obvious that should the Dragon land a solid hit, Cain's efforts would swiftly come to an end. As such, every one of his moves thus far had focused on minimizing the damage the other man did first.
That very concept would fuel Cain's desire for preservation, his free hand heading down to smack against the man's leg that was lifting for the knee strike. While Cain was certainly not able to stop the attack, it wasn't the intention. Instead, the act was meant to push Cain upwards, as if attempting to vault the leg, while pulling his own legs upwards in an attempt to strike the Dragon in the chest and stomach with both knees. Whether these blows, if they connected, would be ignored as the past ones were was unclear, but this time, Cain was using the man's own pull against him.

Once again Mathew made no effort to stop the stranger's attacks and his fist would connect against Mathew's thigh, lifting him up over the majority of the impact. Both of the strangers knees would find their targets but would slam against the stone that Mathew kept coiled around his body like a serpent. But his attack did earn a small grunt as he took a step back to brace himself with the blow.
It was the first time he had acknowledged any of his hits. Dangerous fire sparkled in Mathew's green eyes as his lips curled in to another dark smile.
"You got potential kid. What's your name?"
Mathew released his grip on the man's hand. He had proven that he was worthy enough to have his ear, for the time being at least.

The smallest of smiles formed on Cain's face at the exhalation, though it is chased away by the pain of the impact against his side. The moment he was freed, he immediately took a few steps back, one arm going down to his side to cradle against it.
"Cain."
It was a simple answer, as he considered what they'd said before. At this point, he figured a little honesty wouldn't hurt.
"I want that power."

"Cain huh...?"
The first murderer. And he craved power. Well, he came to the right place for that. And he was obviously capable. More so than a lot of their recruits when they showed up at their door. But that could only take you so far. However when coupled with ambition then that skill becomes dangerous, and if harnessed this young man could be a force to be reckoned with.
"What are you willing to do to gain power?"

"For that level of power? Anything."
Needless to say, Cain wasn't about to make great sacrifices for only small increases. He stretched his side slightly, trying to relax the sore muscle.
"As long as there is a clear reward, I have no issue with whatever it takes."

"It will be dangerous. And you might die in the process. There are rules to follow, and I intend to use you in any way I can."
He said bluntly. All of them true, being a Dragon was not an easy thing. And a lot of Dragonlings died, either in training or in battle. He would not be coddled, and there would be some that would try to cut him down to raise up. Though they were forbidden from actually killing each other there were still ways to step on top of someone else and steal their glory.
"Do you think you are capable of being useful enough to be kept around until you have the power you desire?"

Cain let out a chuckle, shaking his head.
"As long as I get what I desire, I will crush anything you put in front of me."

Mathew chuckled and moved to give Cain a rough slap on the back.
"Then let's go get you introduced to your new family. They will be the ones to decide if you are worthy to be called Brother and Dragon."
Because while Mathew would be the one to fight him, and this time a little less gently, he would not be the one to decide when it ends. That would be decided by the first Dragon that spoke up and decided that the kid had shown that he was worthy to be one of them.

Cain's slight smile hid the inner scowl as the Dragon slaps him on the back, the annoyance being pushed deep down inside. He could suffer this indiginity, for now.
The best things in life were worth waiting for.

And it was that right there that would say to Mathew that he was a good fit for their little family. He saw a younger him in this man, and he was going to go far, assuming he survived. That could be a big if in this world, but if he was worth the power he sought then he would reach it. Things really were as simple as that. Even if Mathew sought to stop him if the guy was truly worthy he would get it.
"Right this way."
And he lead him deeper in to Dragon territory, explaining what it was to be a Dragon. Their code and laws and the induction that would be awaiting him.
