Having a showdown with the baby Engel, well, more like he was watching it, and the baby was just crying, crying because it lost both its parents, was Ruby unmoved? Not really. He had a job to do, and with the DNA secured, regardless of if he let it go or not, the baby would die anyways.
In a way, he was being merciful.
"Goodbye and goodnight, little one."
And Ruby would stab the baby through the heart, making its death as quick and painless as possible.

The baby Engel fell silent.
His job was done. The only known members of this new crossbreed were dead, making the species extinct. Ruby could now head back to the city.

And head back to the city he would. His plasma blade still in his hand, he would turn his back on the baby Engel, leaving the remnants of the massacre behind. Only when he had stepped through the North gate, would he breathe easy. It was never easy being an executor... Or maybe he never had to be in the first place, he didn't really know. Either way, the entire family was dead.
