Olesya didn't question David, instead walked out with him after a quick wave to Maddie. She took his hand as he offered it, and still stiffened slightly as they rose into the air. She understood his powers, he'd showed them to her in the Crow Territory and again at their home, but it never ceased to take her by surprise. She watched in awe as the earth moved beneath them, land giving way to water giving way back to land.
She touched down lightly, still holding tightly onto his hand as she looked around, her mouth slightly open in wonder. This place was serene, clean, untouched by the chaos that barker had struck down on the world. It was like stepping back in time, or stepping into a fairytale. After a couple awed moment, she turned back to David, kaleidoscope eyes widely looking at his deep blue ones.
"Are you sure? I mean this is your place. You've already shared your home with us, I couldn't impose..."
She said slightly breathlessly, still drinking in the sights around her. It was gorgeous, the atmosphere rejuvenating her every second. No wonder he loved it here. But why did he want to give up his solitude for her and Maddie? Peace was a precious thing, hard to come by, and hard to maintain. The fact that he was willing to give that up for their safety both confused and flattered her, filling her with emotions she hadn't felt in a really long time. It was dizzying.

David held out a hand.
"I'm sure. Have been for a long time."
Once she retook it, he would lead her up the steps confidently, the small trees and cement walls of the walkway rising around them. At the door, he held his thumb to the new pad, a small flicker of light before the red light turned green. He held his thumb there longer, two beeps signalling after five seconds. He would lift her hand and after looking to her face for a moment, would press her thumb to the pad. The scanner flashed twice before going back to red. He removed her thumb and let go of her hand, opening the door.
"Now, you can come here whenever you want. I'll show you how to fly here a bit later."
He didn't elaborate.
He would walk inside, the cedar wood paneling around them giving a warmth to the interior. It was clean, well kept. To the left was the entrance into the kitchen, straight ahead being a living room with a flatscreen TV and two rather comfy couches. It looked fairly modern, except for the 18th century chandelier in the dining room. Off to the right were stairs that led up to the second floor. The same wood that was in the entry was on the floor, giving a solid feel. Once upstairs, it turned to a cream colored carpet. After all, who wanted to wake up in the morning to hard wood first thing?
He would let her go past, the door closing behind them, a little apprehensive at her being here as, again, it was his solitude. But he was also happy she would share it with him.

A long time? Olesya looked at him confused as he led her forward, scanning his and then her thumb so that the security system recognized it. It as as good as giving her a key to his place of solitude. The thought blew Olesya's mind, and she was struck dumb in one of the few times in her life.
She followed him into the house, taking in every aspect from the cedar paneled walls to the eighteenth century chandelier. Olesya hadn't seen such beauty since before the bombs dropped. When the world was tossed into chaos, beauty had become an unnecessary luxury. But now...
"Wow..."
She breathed, more to herself than to him as she soaked in everything she could. She ran her hand gently over the back of the couch, pausing and turning back to face him.
"But why...?"
Certainly her mind was making up a thousand different reasons why he would want to share his space with her. Hopefully he didn't just feel pity for her and her ward, he had accused her of not being able to care for the child. But David wasn't like that...there had to be a perfectly good reason...hopefully his answer would clear up the chaos of theories in her head.

David chewed his lip a moment, stuffing his hands in his pockets. He had been reserved, for a while, with her. She came and went rather randomly, and he was always worried there would be a time when she never came back. Of course, he did the same, or used to. He had promised her he never would again without telling her, though, and now... He still cared for her. He was growing attached to another as well, but not quite on the same level as Les.
He shrugged.
"I'd thought you'd have figured it out by now."
He didn't say it in an aggressive way, his voice soft and rather conservative, almost pulling her along intentionally to run into the answer herself. All the times they were interrupted- there was a purpose there, and would have been made clear if they had been allowed to follow through instead of being forced to move on.
He would let an uncomfortable silence hang for a moment, before he took a hand out and pointed at the kitchen, swallowing back the dryness in his throat.
"Uh...you want a drink?"

She had, or...she thought she had, but her isolation had disintegrated her finer socializing skills to the point where she second guessed everything she did, and everything she saw or felt. It was like trying to ride a bike again, and not knowing if the road was going uphill or downhill or how to pedal for it.
Olesya cleared her throat, chewing the inside of her lip as she fought inwardly. Should she say something? Was this the point where she was supposed to say something? How did the movies go? Is this where the hero and heroine finally realize they were meant for each other? Now that's just stupid...movies weren't real. She'd wind up making a fool out of herself.
"Well...thank you. For everything. You stuck by me, even when I was out of my mind. I wasn't the easiest to get along with and I know it."
She paused, trying not to dig herself a bigger hole than she already was.
"Yeah, a drink would be great."

He laughed as he grabbed her some lemonade. " What, you mean your not still out of your mind?" He gave her a wink, pouring her a glass of ice cold into a cup before pouring one of his own. He would put the jug away before walking over to her with the glasses, handing her one before taking a drink of his own. He would watch her a moment, the way her hair moved when she took a drink. He looked to the window, at the crest of the sun on the horizon. He would take her other hand once she finished her drink and walked to the sliding glass door, opening it easily with a gentle wind. He walked her outside, where a hot tub was, larger than most were probably used to. Over it was the clear, light blue of the ocean more well known in the bahamas. To the right were some stairs leading down toward a small beach at the back of the island, big enough for only a few. The steps were made from wood, smoothed to prevent splinters. There were more trees over here than at the other side, and offered a little more shade, covering the hot tub as well with some shadow. He would watch her, instead of looking at the sights, trying to decide what to do. Just a few days earlier, he had been contemplating giving up on any relationship with someone altogether, as something always seemed to get in the way. But now...

It took her a moment to catch on the fact that he was joking. Once she did, she rolled her eyes with a 'har har,' taking his offered lemonade and taking a sip. It was cool and refreshing, she didn't realize how thirsty she was, and the lemonade was good. It took her less than a minute to actually finish it, setting the glass back on the counter, the condensation still forming on the glass.
When David took her hand, her multicolored eyes looked down at their linked fingers, not minding the feeling of his hand held in hers. He led her outside, and again her eyes drank in the beautiful sight around them. It was like paradise, better than any pamphlet could ever capture. She was caught in a bit of a daze, glad that David was leading her so she didn't trip over her own feet.
"This is...so beautiful, David."
And for the second time, Olesya was struck speechless. It was like seeing an oasis in the middle of a desert. After admiring the sights for a minute or so, she turned back to David, chewing on her lip slightly as she fought for what words to say.
"I don't always....say, or do the right things. I'm very flawed, but I've come a long way from that night on the roof...in the rain. You know...finding you helped me find my sanity. Before our confrontation on that rooftop, I had no idea who I was, what I was doing, where I was going...seeing you sparked that deep seated memory I thought I'd lost. I hit rock bottom, got clean, and came to Crow territory after the bombs fell...I don't think it is just coincidence that I found you again. You and Maddie have become my family, and I really care about you."
She paused, frowning uncertainly. She glanced at the ground, before looking back up into his deep blue eyes.

He watched her, for several moments, trying to run through things in his head. He would stare back as she finished, David speaking softly.
"I'm...leaving, Les. For about a month."
He turned away, taking a step or two down toward the hot tub.
"There are groups in central and eastern america, who are fighting. They have huge strength, and we need to tap that resource. So, I'm leaving with Mitsuki Park for one month to get it done. I..."
He would take a deep breath, watching the purple and blue sky become crisper on the horizon.
"To be blunt, Les- I want you. I have for a very long time."
He turned back toward her, not bothering to appear shy as he gave a sad smile.
"But I want you to feel safe, too. Confident in me. And not to feel concerned about whether I'll be back or if i'll vanish forever. If you don't want to...uh...be with me, in that way, I can understand that and maybe someday accept it, but I can and would take care of you either way. Both of you can be here for as long as you like, whenever you like. There would never be a want for anything like money or...security. I could give you..both of you, everything and anything you could ever want. I mean that, as cheesy as it sounds."

Leaving. The one word Olesya hated to hear the most...well, one of the most hated. Leaving Long Beach when the earthquake struck. Her friends, all leaving one by one. Leaving California for parts unknown when she...when the chemicals stripped her sanity from her....
Leaving.
The young woman's face fell, but she pressed her lips together to keep from interrupting him. She was glad she did, however, as as many words, he said what she had hoped he would. Once he finished speaking, she would slowly take the steps down to meet him at his level, her expression brightening to her usual smirk.
"You always tend to mix your bad news and good news.."
She met him on his step, looking up into his deep blue eyes that appeared even darker in the setting sun. Now there was no illness collapse, no August or Youichi rounding the corner, no Maddie running about, no urgent Dragon business, no more almost's. She cupped his cheek gently and leaned in, capturing his lips with hers.

He watched her take her steps, stopping in front of him. As she kissed him, he dropped the glass into the hot tub- not out of shock, but because he didn't give a damn about it at that moment. He needed the hand. He would reach up and cup the right side of her face in his hand, thumb rubbing gently along her jawline as his other hand would take her by the waist and pull her close to deepen it. After a moment or two, he would pull away just a bit, breathless, now peaking at her scent and at the feel of her. He gave a smile, eyes still closed, thinking of what she said regarding good and bad news. " Just...trying to remain consistent." He would kiss her again, this time wrapping both arms around her and lifting, turning her around so she was now standing where he used to be and vice-versa. He would give a small chuckle this time as they parted. " Damn... I've been waiting forever for that." He would look back at the house, then bring his gaze back to hers. " I have something else for you too. C'mon." He would take her hand and lead her back inside, and up the stairs, toward the bedroom. Once inside, He would head into the walk-in closet and pull out a Hoodie. Thin, black, and with the Words "Sky Force" On the back, in the middle. Across the shoulder-blades was her name, in blue. It would be thin enough to wear under the one she usually wore, his old "Blazing Legends" coat. He would offer it to her to try on. OOC: Sky Force JacketMade of thin black leather, these "jackets" have "Skyforce" written On the backs, directly in the middle in Dark blue. Across the shoulder blades are the name of the wearer, Also in blue.
The SF jackets are not too protective, or full of embuing strength or speed. They do allow the wearers one gift- flight. Once per thread, a wearer may take to the air. As soon as their feet touch ground again, though, it takes time to recharge, and cannot be used again that thread

Olesya thought maybe along with her finer social skills, that she would forget something as simple as kissing. However, she felt herself responding to David's touch as if it were the most natural thing in the world. She kept her one hand on his cheek, the other brushing lightly through his hair.
As they parted, Olesya could feel her cheeks burning, and she smiled sheepishly. She felt very much like her silly Junior self again, the first time the two of them had met. He'd kissed her then, too, right before her tried throwing her through a wall. This time was obviously much different.
"Something else?"
She asked curiously, completely unsure what else besides paradise he had to show her. She took his offered hand, her fingers gently entwining in his (yes, she could get used to that), as they re-entered the house. Up the stairs and to the bedroom, Les stared, again, open mouthed as he let go of her hand to head to the closet. She just wanted to swan dive onto that cloud-looking bed! Before she'd finished arguing with herself on whether or not that was a good idea, David returned with a thin leather jacket with her name on it. 'Sky Force,' huh? Why did that sound so familiar?
"I saw someone wearing one of these."
She said slowly as recognition dawned on her. She took the jacket from him and slipped it on. It felt like and airy, very comfortable.
"It was a girl, blonde...her name was Kiyr."
She said, taking a moment to remember the girl's name. Olesya was terrible at names, it was half the reason she made up nicknames for so many people. For some reason 'Sourpuss' or "Bigfoot' stuck in her head easier than 'Victoria' or 'Mike.'

David would take her hand and bring her around, so she could stand in front of him as he sat on the all-too-terribly-comfortable bed, watching her a moment in it. He held up a finger.
"This coat is special. It lets you do what I do. It lets you fly."
He would give a grin.
"I told you we'd get to you coming here later. This will let you fly for pretty much as long as you want, as high as you want. I have another one for Maddie, that you can teach her to use. Once you get in the air, it's super easy to control as it takes care of all the tiny adjustments to the passing wind. This way, even when I'm not here, you can bring Maddie and stay here as long as you want. In the bunker is an office, with a direct link to Dragon headquarters, so you can get away while still giving orders. And as I'll be gone...you'll be in command."
He would let his eyes trail over her, for a moment or two, rather relaxed in how he did it. Usually, he checked her out from the corner of his eye, when he was sure he couldn't be seen. Now he did it rather openly, to show both that he was pleased by what he saw (most definitely!) and that she looked good in the coat.
"I just...your so gorgeous. Ugh....it almost hurts."
He would fall back onto the bed, arms up over his head, staring at the ceiling and trying to come to terms with what it meant that, now, they were together. That nobody walked through a door or shot a missle or blew up his island right when it happened. He closed his eyes and thought about it, just for a moment.
He was...happy.

Olesya's first thought was regulated when and how much Maddie would be allowed to wear her jacket. The last thing she needed was a ten year old flying all over the place and she could get hurt or cause trouble or-
Oh man. She was sounding like a Mom. When the hell did that happen?!
The thought struck Olesya's features, turning her expression into a mildly shocked realization. She hardly noticed David's eyes roaming, but she blinked back to her current train of thought and caught him, her cheeks turning a slight shade of pink. When he fell back on the bed, Les watched him, soaking in his peaceful expression and relaxed countenance. Wait, had he just said she was gorgeous?
"I don't mean to hurt you."
She laughed, collapsing on the bed next to him. She'd meant to just sit down but it was just SO DAMN COMFY, she hadn't experienced this type of luxury since before she'd left home. She looked at the ceiling for a second before rolling on her side to face him, propping her head up with her hand.
"It means a lot, that you think that. Especially since...I changed so much."
She tugged on the strands of her stark white hair. Granted, she could have dyed it, but hair dye was a luxury that wasn't all that common these days, and the last thing she needed was brown hair with white roots. No, she was better off embracing her marks as an Experiment. The hair, her eyes, she couldn't remember how many times she'd looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the girl looking back at her. Her hazel hues had been bleached ice blue, her auburn hair completely desaturated. Thanks to the treatment she'd received, she got most of her eyes color back, but the ice blue was still there in little slivers like a kaleidoscope. And her hair, she'd never get the color back.

He turned to look at her, shifting onto his side and watching her before bringing up a hand to gently comb it through her hair. He watched her face and eyes while he touched her, smiling, before slipping his other hand under her form to lift her and set her on his waist, at the lower abdomen, biting his lip a moment at a thought before pushing it away.
"Not as much as you like to think. A little splash of white and change of eye color doesn't mean you are a new person. Inside and out, seriously, no one could ask for more."
He would expect her to lean over as he brought up his head to give a little kiss, gentle, before sitting up and letting out a little breath.
"So, tell me more about this fighter. Did you defeat him, and was he strong?"
Standing, he would set her down before taking off his shirt, tossing it in the basket (as he liked to keep a clean house) before opening the top drawer of his dresser. It was humid, and hot, as was usual for California, but unusual for so early. Or maybe he just felt warmer with her there. Who knows. He didn't think about it, instead assuming he needed cooler clothing as he rummaged around for another shirt.

The way David looked at her made her feel as beautiful as he thought she was. And that's what mattered right? Beauty was in the eye of the beholder. And David was just as handsome as he was the day she'd met him. Maybe a bit thinner, his eyes a bit older, but they all carried the weight of the world in their eyes, especially in a world torn asunder.
It did, for a while...but you're right"
She reminded him, thought feeling confident in his words that the physical characteristics that marked her as an Experiment didn't define her. Shew as feeling more and more like her old self every day, thanks to David and Maddie and having a stable support network with the Dragons. She leaned in to kiss him again, a gentle laugh escaping her lips as he gracefully dumped her onto the bed so he could change.
Then he took his shirt off and Olesya's brain short circuited.
She heard him speak, even registered his words, but putting her own words together was a bit difficult as her gaze traced the muscles in his abdomen and then in his back when he turned away from her.
"Uh, yeah. I mean...I guess I won, I'd turned it in my favor just as the Dragons showed up and he took off running. He was strong but not precisely disciplined. He had a knife but he dropped it the moment I flipped him over the bed. Brutish but his form was messy. He got a couple good hits in through."
She raised a hand to gingerly poke at the skin around her right eye. It was puffy and would more than likely bruise if it hadn't already. She couldn't see her own face so it was hard to tell from her point of view.
