As some of you may have noticed, there has been a few instances on the site of fights that are not done correctly, or that are not fleshed out enough. Some people have been writing one or two-liners for posts (react, respond), and it is the opinion of the staff that we, the players, should hold ourselves to a higher standard than that. As an immediate countermeasure, a Fight Thread Turn-In System will be implemented for a trial run. In order to receive the +1 EXP for your fight, it must be turned in here, and a Moderator (Usually myself) will go over your thread and award EXP accordingly. To be clear, the previous rule of a maximum +1 EXP per person, per fight, is still in effect. What will happen is, if a person's participation is deemed to be under standard, they will receive no EXP unless it is fixed. The standard that is to be followed is one of quality of the content. We will be looking for content that shows your character is actually in the fight, and not just going through the motions. Example: Jeff blocked the punch with his arm and stepped forward to knee AJ in the stomach. Jeff barely had time to react to the lightning fast punch that AJ had aimed for him. He would bring up his forearm to block, deflecting it barely enough to miss his face. His arm stung from the impact, almost making him want to pull back, but knowing he should keep contact with his opponent. Though AJ's move was powerful, it was also risky, as it left his midsection exposed. A mistake that Jeff wouldn't forgive. Stepping forward, he would keep contact with AJ's arm as he guided a knee into the larger man's gut. As you can see, just putting a little bit more creative detail into the writing can have huge effects. It doesn't even take much more effort. Sample Fight Turn-In Name of Thread (Please Include Link): Participants: Result (Who Won, Who Lost, Tie): Duration of Fight (In OOC. Start/End Date):

I have a question.
With these sorts of posts, is there a point where you must have so many hits landed for it to count?

In the example, there's an awkwardly worded sentence that seems to end prematurely.
"His arm stung from the impact, almost making him want to pull back, but knowing he should keep contact with his opponent." ... Knowing he should do this, he did what? It ends off right there, instead of detailing what he did with this knowledge.

Which naturally would be put under consideration by the Ruling mods of whom the Fight thread is handed to as to whether or not EXP should be awarded

So in the case of a one on one fight, there would be no exp awarded for that? Or are there half points of exp awarded?

So in the case of a one on one fight, there would be no exp awarded for that? Or are there half points of exp awarded? If one player was deemed under standard of quality, they would recieve no EXP. However, if the other party involved in the fight gave writing that was deemed quality, they would still be awarded EXP.

Any exchange of blows constitutes a fight and both parties could be subject to criminal action. Even just one punch each.

Haha cool beans But for this law, that's not the case man people gotta have a good, solid throw down to be counted, Yknow?

What I meant to say was more along the lines of, if a fight is deemed to be insufficient by being too short, then any EXP awards that might take place could be null. Legally, two punches is a fight. But, those people don't get EXP for it, no?

I'd consider getting arrested experience. Punch a senior citizen and you get extra time.

Experience should draw from a lengthy fight. One or two blows is not enough time to learn something in a fight. You learn to fight through repetition. a LOT of repetition.
Getting arrested only earns you the experience that you did something wrong, which is sort of a moot point in a post apocalyptic universe. Please also keep in mind that XIN does not run on the mechanics of "POLICE" or "JAIL" and never really has, except as personal character side stories.
That said, I'm in support of the new system as a member. The MODS worked hard on this from weeks ago. It's implementation means they all agreed to it.
If your stake in the site and your character is honest and sincere, then it shouldn't be an issue for anyone.

This came about because of Destiny, Jamal, and myself, which is fine but don't pretend otherwise. This would have been brought up earlier if that was the case, instead of the hostility towards them. That said, you can and will do whatever you want. Just pointing out what Lucien said was false. And I can not find fault with forcing people to earn EXP, it's why I had such hatred for the abomination known as the arena. So go for it. b(^.^)d

If you want, I can quote directly from the Staff Meeting that took place on June 28th, 2013, in regards to the Fight Turn-In thread, for which I was to be the one to spearhead the implementation? I'd be more than happy to PM it to you.
