Let It Go Free.

He listened, eyes searching her.

"I will be back....to the state. But I'll be living well outside the city. About an hours drive north. Near Valencia. I'll be in the city often but.... I am leaving it."

He brought his hands out in front of him and worked a thumb into his palm. When he had told Maddie he was to be gone....he had meant it. He would visit her as often as possible, but with what he planned, there was no way he could promise anything. He glanced up at her, a little wary and a little nervous- he knew Les still had some trouble with emotionally based things, and though he understood that some of the angry things she said may not have been meant in the way they were spoken, her tone and tears and...accusations were the last straw that broke the camels back. He turned his head left and spoke.

"Olesya, I love you. For reasons i don't...fully understand you don't want to be with me. Because you feel I lied. Or that I was keeping things from you or...that you don't believe I feel what I do. And that's fine- everyone has choices they have to make in their lives. Perhaps this is one of those that will turn out best for you. Truly, I hope it does. But now- from here on out- Im not going to be a part of the dragons. Im going. And I don't care if you or Mathew or Leon want to pretend there is always a spot for me. I won't be back for it."

He would turn to look her her.

"I told Maddie what I did for a reason. Don't give her some possibly false hope when tomorrow I could be the next Kiyoshi- just another human with a bullet in the head. I don't know when I'll see you again- if its never, then im sorry I couldn't give you what I had dreamed if giving you. Perhaps another, who is better than I, will make you happy."

He smiled.

"I'd like that, I think."

He turned and started to walk away.

"My last order- your the new Leader now, les. Look after the boys. Keep them strong and alert. Make Barker your bitch- if anyone can, its you."

He started to lift off the ground.

"Bye."

There were so many things she wanted to say, so many things she wanted to retort with that it made her want to scream. David was leaving again, and for some unknown reason, leaving the Dragons and leaving them to her. It was like high school all over again! Only this time she didn't have Emily to take the full brunt of the responsibility as acting School Captain. Now she was to be the leader...did she have what it takes?

Well it looked like she didn't have much of a choice.

'Bye.'

For some reason, the farewell felt more permanent than the last. She wasn't going to just freeze and let him go this time. Not after what Kiyr had said.

"David, wait!"

She bounded after him, grabbing him by the back of his clothes, preventing him from flying away. If he landed, she would let him go, her hands falling to her sides in fists. If he didn't, she would hold onto her grasp of his clothing so he would hear what she had to say.

"There is no one else. There will likely never be anyone else who can make me happy. Do you have any idea how hard it is to let people into my life? How hard for me to admit my love for someone? And yet somehow you've managed to get through all my defenses. Every time. There is no one like you, David. There never will be. I love you, and I do want to be with you. It was one fight. One stupid fight, and yes, the world may end tomorrow...again...but I'd rather be by your side than hear through the grapevine. So please...do what you need to do and come home?"

He stopped, but didnt turn around or land, just listening. Did she really think that about him? He turned back just a little. It was just a stupid fight....but as previously stated- was the last straw. He had way too much pressure, stress, worries- he needed time away. She spoke from the heart, he knew...and her last words caused a tightness in his chest. He lowered slowly, turning back a little. He would turn around fully and wrap his arms around her, hugging her. That she loved him, and said she did, made him feel better but...he was still unsure. He spoke quietly.

"I love you les. I'll...think about what you said, okay? Thats...the best I can do right now."

He would kiss her gently on the cheek before turning around and lifting off. He looked back as he was lifting into sky, smiling.

"Keep that necklace close...and use it if you need to. I'll see you soon."

And with that he would take off...back north. And, surprisingly, his heart was a little bit lighter.

She supposed she owed him that. He had to think about it...think about who he loved. David's heart was big enough to ore than one person, but Olesya's heart wasn't set up that way. She found it difficult to let people in, after losing her mind and losing her family...she couldn't bear to lose anything else. David and Maddie had become her family, and now David was leaving. Olesya would have to deal, she had no other choice.

And on top of that, she now had to run the Dragons.

At least she'd have something to keep her busy. Between raising Maddie and running the Dragons, hopefully she wouldn't have time to dwell on what had been. Casting one more look at David's retreating figure, Olesya turned South and returned home.
