The mechanic smiled wistfully as Olesya reached across the table to touch her hand. It was...appreciated comfort. She thought she would have been more jaded from it at this point; it had been so long. Months, nearly a year. Moved on, made her peace with it (mostly).
...She'd always taken it as though she'd gotten herself into that situation in the first place. Waiting for him, letting herself get swept off her feet. Again. Sympathy had ever been...expected.
See, now this is why you need more friends.
Delilah twisted her hand a bit, touching Olesya's palm with her own and giving the other woman's hand a squeeze.
"Then you'll be fine, once you're mind is made up."

"Yeah...that's the hardest part."
She bit her lip, turning the conversation over in her head. With David nothing was simple. First he was hot, then he was cold. Simple, then complicated. Right, then wrong. She couldn't keep up, and with her own baggage she carried...well, there was more than one reason why it didn't work out between them. But did that mean it never would?
"He let me go to give me space...maybe I should do the same for him."
She mused, thinking about how she still felt. Every knock on the door, every gust of wind, she always held her breath on the off chance...and it was driving her mad. Maybe she did need space after all.
In the meantime, maybe she should work on her other friendships.
"Say...maybe you should bring Oliver over sometime, he and Maddie should be around the same age. How old is he again?"

She gave a small nod, "Well, he could do with the socialization; there are lots of orphans where we live, of course, but he tends to distance himself from them. He's five."
Still, not a bad idea at all.

"Maddie's ten, though she gets along with just about all children."
She smiled, looking forward to spending more time with Delilah and giving Maddie more interaction with children. She had her school friends, but the more the merrier.

"Good! Then we'll have to set something up sometime."
She polished off the last of her bourbon, setting the mug down and sliding it away. Her head was pleasantly foggy, riding the fine line that went over into 'tipsy' territory. Normally, she could handle at least another two ounces before she felt even slightly drunk, but she was also drinking on an empty stomach.
Good time to stop, then.
"You certainly do seem better, though," she commented jovially. "For all it's ups and downs, leadership seems to suit you. Certainly a far cry from the woman who wanted nothing to do with anyone when I met her outside of L.A."
