Anna spends a few more hours digging a large enough hole to fit her mother and the remainder of her father in. The sun beats down and the day is just as nice and warm as it was yesterday.
But it's definitely a much different day.

She wipes the sweat off her brow with a muck covered arm as she leans against the shovel. Her weight enough to make it dig into the earth a bit as she looked down at the hole. Sniffling and wiping her sleeve under her nose she sighed dejectedly at the hole before shuffling off for her parents. Dragging her Mother in a slow and painful process to the hole. Rolling her over into it, wincing at the thud her body made as it hit the ground.
Crossing herself she stared at her Mother's broken and battered form, contorted in the makeshift grave. Tears streaming down her eyes once more as she turned to get what remained of her Father. Who she had an easier time transporting since he was in piece. The thought of it made her stomach lurch and bile creep up her throat. Swallowing it she rolled what was left of her Dad into the grave before she started the slow and back breaking work of filling the hole.
Only when her work was done would she kneel in front of the grave. Crossing herself before clasping her hands and lowering her head in silent prayer. She prayed to God to watch over their souls and to grant them access to the Kingdom of heaven. He prayed for him to watch over her, and to see her through whatever trials she had ahead of her. Most of all she prayed that her parents knew how much she loved them, and how much she missed them.
She prayed about her doubts and fears of going on without them. Her sorrow of having them ripping away. She prayed, begging for answers, why she was spared. Why they were taken from her. What she was supposed to do now. She was a lost lamb with no Shepard.

As she prays, she gets no response. But once she stops, something flickers at the edge of her vision. Like a little white light of a projector as the reel begins to spin. There is no gradual increase in light or images. It just suddenly and completely overtakes the young teen's eyes and mind.
It's fast, but, she sees her perspective shift towards the South. The flash of important landmarks and street signs - some of which are half-there - as the newly ruined world flashes by. There are only three. She's never seen these places, but, the vision suddenly shows her a face.
Whatever that was releases her, leaving the girl exhausted. Swaying. The world going dark once more.

The visions flashed before her eyes and her breath caught in her throat. Her eyes kept seeing flashing in her peripheral vision. However no matter how much her eyes moved the visions remained as they were, fixed in place. Shattered landmarks seared into her brain before the vision zoomed in on a face.
A man that she had never seen before in her life. An overwhelming feeling of sorrow and loss gripped her heart as she gasped. Her heart breaking anew as it washed in this pain that radiated from the man. When the world went black she crumpled into a heap atop her parents grave.
When she awoke hours later her path was now clear. God had answered her prayers and given her a direction. She needed to find the man with the broken heart. He needed her. She needed to head south...
