Damn that made a lot of sense. She was making it hard to hate her now. The more I thought about it, the more I liked it. Damn her. I looked down at the plate and thought about it. There was something going on with Asiv and Kaar. Something was up and Emily caught the scent. She saw and felt something. I closed my eyes tight and silently cursed myself. Without looking up or opening my eyes I answered.
"Ok. I see your point. I trust... your judgement. I...*sigh* I won't tell Violet. But if she figures it out on her own, it's not my fault. She is smarter than you realize."
I looked up at her. I was still upset, but not at her anymore. I was pissed at myself for going along with keeping something from one of my friends. My only friend. I hated myself. I was despicable.

Emily nodded.
"I'm not asking you to lie. Be her friend, talk to her. Do whatever you want with her. Just don't but into business between me and her. And I don't expect or want you to tell me her thoughts and feelings on me and the Pillars. I just want to know if plans come out that the SHCP will turn on us, or the school, or plan to do something majorly bent. If it makes you feel better, you can suggest to Violet to bring it to me instead. That way, you're giving her the chance first, and if you're forced to bring it yourself it's to protect others. I'm trusting you to take care of the school and the innocent people here- over your loyalty and trust to me and Violet. Hell....if I become the problem..."
She cocked an eyebrow.
"You should have a plan ready to bring me down too. It's the unfortunate circumstance of the system....shit happens. Be ready for it."
She would take the second glass Mel brought out and drink from it, moving back over to the couch to sit.

I looked back at the plate of chips. Picking up the glass I slowly nodded and sipped at it.
"I'll tell you if there is something you need to know."
I turned my attention back to her.
"If you become the problem, I will take you out. Make no mistake about that."
I turned back to my homework and continued writing answers. I didn't want to think about the conversation we had just had. I wanted to forget. I wanted to have more than just math to do tonight. Violet... I will never turn my back on you. I will never betray you. I promise.

Assuming the conversation was done, Emily moved back over to the couch and flipped on the TV.
She hadn't had to tell Melanie everything.
Still, she had to tell her more than she wanted.
She did too well choosing her Pillars.
