She opened her mouth and she was not sure if he was serious. The confusion on her face was apparent and that was annoying. "Oi, You bein' some sarcastic git?" He was already leaving. "HEY! Watch yourself If I am stuck here because of you, I'll be bringing a fight!"

"Understood."
He didn't care. And he'd shut the door on his way out.

Em stood, looking down at her phone before tucking it away. She didn't appear surprised, but would walk to the foot of the bed.
"My orders are to tell you once you're able to, you're free to go. But to finish your delivery."
With that, Em would walk over and unlock her cuffs, take them off and turn to leave.

She grinded her teeth with a ticked off snarl. Oh, how she wished she wasn't cuffed to the bed she'd go out there and shove his mutated arm right up his ass.
But Emily's words stopped her... and seeing her remove the cuffs she was even more stumped. She rubbed her wrists and just stared at her. Finally seeing the mask and what details really defined her. "So I am cleared?" Like Emily had to answer Avice was certain that is what she heard. She stood feeling the ache in her back and the fatigue she accumulated. But she was ready to go. Checking her backpack she saw the package safe and secure without so much as a fray in the paper wrapping. "Aye, Then I will be on my way." She'd slip on her shoes, sling the bag over her shoulder, and finally just go to the arranged meeting spot with the package.

As she arrived at her destination, she'd find a man sitting there reading a book. If she was familiar with the billboards, screens, and other informational sources on Cabal she'd recognize him as the supervisor.
"Hello, Avice."
He snapped the book closed, crossing his legs.
"Please, have a seat."

She kept looking over her shoulder between the infirmary and here trying to keep her back close to the wall cautious as to not leave blind spots. After getting near the area she was able to see the man in the night's natural light. The chick from before let her go too easy, it was within Avice's cautious nature to assume but not question when she was told she could go that it was not without a few catches. She raised a brow high to his words. With damaged straps, she held the top loop as it dangled her shoulder while her other hand came to rest on her hip. She looked him up and down, he gave off a similar vibe as the person she met before. Stiff, proper, and likely to get under her skin... this kind of person rubs her wrong.
"Now why would someone like you be all the way here, when you could have had some of your Cabal associates drag me kickin' and screamin' to your nice an' pretty office? What do they call you these days?" He asked her to take a seat but she was not sure she'd oblige. Personally, she felt more comfortable standing... physically, she probably couldn't take off running and leave here alive if she felt this weak just standing up. She'd remain standing this turn but she'd put her bag at her feet and cross her arms to ease the weight.

"I'm not the type."
He liked to be in the grit and turn with his people. He didn't see himself superior, just given more power. He tended to try and wield it with care.
"I wanted to thank you for doing as you were asked, and you'll be compensated."
He'd uncross his legs and shift over to take the bag, reaching inside and pulling it out.
"Mm. Just as gorgeous as they promised me it would be." He'd look to her. "I wondered if you'd like a further job? One that pays a little more."

She'd wanted to grab for him but something in her gut instinct told her how bad of an idea that might be.
"Oi, that's..." She'd try to argue but instead figured out the connection. She was tricked, her head turned to the side giving way to a small strand of pops and her lips pressed into a thin line. The tension was real. "I'd already been paid... but you offer somethin' else now?"

"I am." He'd set the clock down on the other side of himself, still giving her room on the bench to sit if she'd like. "This." He pulled from his pocket a pouch, opening it down and around the massive stone inside. "Maybe you're too young to remember, but at one time this was the largest Diamond on earth. It used to be worth a Kingdom....and though it's worth a little less now, you could say it would set you up for life even in this world." He'd set it next to himself. "While it's all well and good to have everything you could want from a financial stand-point, there are a rare few who look for something more. Something outside the realm of mediocrity. I understand if that's not you. If sitting on a beach somewhere watching the sun set over the seas is too lucrative a deal to pass up. If you want to take it and go, you may." He stared at her. "But if that's not you, if you want something a little more....off the beaten path, then you should sit." He'd reopen his book, ignoring her until she either took the stone and left, or took the seat, even if she asked him further questions.

She looked at him as if he literally just pulled that rock out of his arse. But the words he said struck something with her. Something a bit painful and hard for her to make words out of.
"Hm... Mr. Blaze, I don't want to get into my sob story an' make this long, but I realized somethin' a lot earlier than most people. You don't give nothin' to get somethin' and no one offerin' you anythin' for nothin'. Hopes and dreams are good but you got to work for 'em. Know why Parent's interview children before takin' them up to sign the papers to a new home? Because they want to know what this kid'll offer 'em. Heathens an' Freaks like me don't show bright futures." But she walked over and sat down. "If you had handed me that rock and said, "this'll be yours..." I'd turn you down. Whatever I am ain't worth that rock for no one... but you are offerin' somethin' else. Aye, "off the beaten path" is accurate. The Earth itself offered me one life and sky's the limit so I been takin' and repayin' her the only gift I've ever been givin'. So... you've made your pitch... now is time to tell me what you sellin' Aye?" She'll listen to what he had to say with a curious mind.

He reached down and picked up the rock as she spoke and sat, stuffing it back into the bag before turning his eyes on her, book closing by itself. "You're right. Few people do as you describe, and even fewer are bright enough to see the bait on the end of the hook. But regardless of what you think of me- this is yours." He'd hold out the stone again. "Think of it as compensation for your trouble....and the trouble to come." He'd set it in her lap and turn, picking up the clock. Opening the small clasped door on it, he set it in his lap so she could see his hand resting inside. Hair was sucked into it, pulling out the gears and innards and meshing them together in whirrs and clicks. "Nobody and nothing is every as it seems. You included, my dear. Our stories define us, the journey being half the fun." It continued clicking and whirring pieces together, the sound of cracking glass included. "I have a problem, Ms. Locke. A group calling themselves PAL has been terribly misinformed as to my purpose. To the purpose of this place. I want to change that. But sending my people has caused terrible problems, as they tend to be....unable or unwilling to do what's necessary for this group to believe they come in peace." As the clicking stopped...he'd pull out a watch. "I want you to have this....and join PAL. Legitimately join them, do as they ask....just report back to me any information you can. Specifically if they intend to hurt others." Time Piece of the Clock Maker: +4 Strength, +4 Perception - Once per thread, Avice may add 1/2 her energy to any stat, lasts for 1/2 posts in length. He sat it in her lap and preceded to do whatever it was that he would as it was about to roll off her leg. She fumbled for it and but quickly got a secure hold on the rock just in time to hear the clock she had taken such good care of being ripped to bits.
"You want me to be a snitch?" He was giving her a diamond she can barely wrap her fingers around to infiltrate and report what he wants to know? She watched him closer and realized he was not ripping the clock apart but opening it up. He pulled out the watch and she did as instructed sort of still trying to figure things all out.
"So what would be your purpose an' the purpose of Cabal? 'Cause not sure you've been outside much but even I get the impression you shell out well-trained soldiers like a factory an' throw your wank around so that no one would dare try an..." she looked at him realizing what she was saying and decided to rephrase. "Just sayin', the dragons an' this place is a force to be reckoned with an' there is not an endin' insight to just how far Cabal will go. If anybody plannin' to make you check yourself then it best be Nuclear. Power makes people scared." She meant someone better have a bulletproof plan in order to even try and face Cabal head on. No ones got that power yet and if they do they are on the same side.
she'd examine the watch and see its details. She hadn't said no but she realized she hadn't given him a yes quite yet. It was a bit out there for her to believe this dropped in her lap and wonder if she got a concussion.

He gave a soft smile.
"Yes and no. You see, I'd also like you to investigate my own academy. Test it's security in all forms. You seemed to have....quite the knack for eluding our sensors, our cameras...it was only by happenstance that you ran into one of our agents on patrol. I pride myself in finding talent and utilizing it, giving people something more."
He let out a little hum, watching her. Girl had very little respect but...he liked that. He was tired of the deference. It was good to have an actual conversation with someone.
"My purpose is to protect my people, protect those in PAL, and the civilians. Though it may not be obvious, 259 is actually a wealthy territory. Those outside it, those other new countries...they are chomping at the bit to carve us up. Cabal may seem invincible to you, but there are more problems than you realize. More than we make the public aware of."
He glanced down at the watch.
"I do not blame fear. I blame the weakness that allows it to control us. People see what Cabal is and think it's this new form military industrial complex. That we're performing tests on people and indoctrinating others. We infuse discipline and control, and make people stronger through development but we don't force anyone to stay here. The only ones indentured here are those who have committed crimes." He looked to her. "In the end, it's my hope you'll join us here. We could really use someone like you."

She could not help but chalk up a toothy grin for the fellow his words kind of surprised her made her feel like he truly does remember what it was like digging in the bottom of the barrels. "Aye, makes good sense... I been around many a territory this place is well off for sure I had no doubt 'bout that. Suppose the path to hell is paved with good intentions. People'll believe what they are told by the one they trust... true or not we all had that kid we knew that told wild stories that were like to be believed till we got smart enough. Invincible was one rumor I never believed in. Hence how I got in... Oi, but you could use someone like me?" But she would hush a moment and let the smile drop seeing herself weigh her options.
"I'll be searchin' your PAL's and your Cabal... If somethin' comes up I'll make it so that you are the first to know an' once it is all over an' I like what I find... I'll consider fillin' out some application that'll make me welcome and be no longer needin' to find the holes in your fences. Regardless of what you say... I will find out what truth I see for myself without outside bias. If you agree, we have a deal...?" She shifted both items into one hand and held out her other for a sealed handshake. "An' to get ya started, measure out where your sensors have been placed and how far apart... I found one that was almost ten centimeters too far from the next receiver... it was a weaker signal. Also, check for rust or somethin' in your camera rotations some are movin' a bit slower than others causin' a few gaps." She winked growing her grin back while bragging.

He nodded.
"There is no single person who'd be turned away from Cabal. But there are a select few who neither need nor want it, but who are needed or wanted by us. The kind with a survivors spirit and instinct, or those with capabilities greater than they know. You're one of the latter."
He'd clasp her hands.
"It's a deal. Consider nothing in cabal off limits. And in case anyone does come for you, catch you or try to attack you, inform them to contact me immediately."
He was dead serious, and nodded at her explaination of the sensors, standing.
"I'll see to it immediately. Thank you, and good luck with PAL."
He'd take a step into the air and start walking upward into the sky, ending at the roof of the building where he'd step off and head toward the atrium there.
