Reporting for Duty (Leon/Research)

[Leon]

Arthur would frown for the first time since Eric had met him, looking down a bit.

"I have noticed something off about you for some time... And now you ask for information specifically on assassinations in your home territory. You so far have been straight forward and polite. Following protocol and making sure you abide by social structure... However when it came to that, even though you waited a full day to request it... Feels like your true objective is hidden from you, and this whole endeavor has been just a front of some sort. I feel you are fiercely loyal, driven, and a man of duty... Is the mystery over the death of the Earth Dragon what drives you? The death of your master?"

Arthur could be seen hurting in his eyes from asking, as it reminded him of the day he lost his father, and his own motivations since.

[Mathew Amtrum]

Eric returned his frown as he considered the question and how he wished to answer it. He was quite observant for someone so young, it almost took him by surprise, it felt like quite the contrast to the excitable boy he'd met with earlier. But, he was still a King, and that meant he had a duty to be observant.

"I have reason to suspect certain deaths may have been caused by those that would not normally be under suspicion. I believe it to be wise to cross-examine intelligence from not only our home sources but those from outside our borders and influence. In that way I hope to obtain a clearer picture."

[Leon]

Arthur would put on a rather warm smile.

"Do not worry my friend. We will do everything we can to help."

Shortly after Weigrif would return with a folder.

"It's not much but this is what we know of over the past year and a half."

He'd offer the King another small bow in thanks.

"I make it a point not to worry. Worrying does not solve problems."

The smile that touched his face was more wry than warm, but he was in good spirits. There was no telling if this intel would be any good, or if it was worth the trip, but even if it gave him nothing new. Even if it turned into a dead end, it opened up a new resource for him, and that alone had a value that he could not yet calculate.

"Thank you, I look forward to reading over this and comparing it with my notes. I will destroy the records once I am finished so that your sources are not compromised."

His sources now as well.

[Leon]

Arthur would bow out of the conversation.

"I wish you luck, but there is much required of me today."

Weigrif would bow as Arthur left.

"Of course, I thank you for your time Lord Arthur."

He bowed once more as Arthur excused himself before turning his attention to Weigrif.

"I wish to thank you once again for your hospitality. This visit has not gone as expected, and for that I am grateful."

[Leon]

Weigrif chuckles.

"I hate to imagine what you originally thought may happen on this mission of yours, but I am glad this was the outcome instead."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"It is probably better left unsaid."

He would hate to ruin the goodwill he'd managed to build up.

"I hope that you will keep me posted on how the negotiations with Ragnorak go, I am interested to see if we really can make peace with them. And if Prota breaks their word then you have only to send word to Cabal and I will see my way back here. I am not the type to leave my jobs half finished."

[Leon]

"We will endeavor to keep things you have set in motion going strong. If you will excuse me however, the other Knights are due to be informed."

Weigrif would bow his head and walk to the barracks.

"By all means."

He'd motion for Weigrif to do what he needed to do. Eric's business was mostly concluded at this point and he would go to find somewhere private that he could read over these folders. He'd rather take care of it and dispose of the information that he obtained before returning home. He was unsure who he could trust back home, and thus it was best to keep this information from everyone. He'd decide what to do with it.

Eric would find a total of 7 assassination attempts. Two he knows nothing about.

One year ago, unknown assailant in large cloak attempts to assassinate Zack Asiv. Small skirmish causes assailant to leave. Zack Asiv never mentions or reports said incident.

Eight months ago, pale skinned, white haired female with long fingers attempts to assassinate known Dragon Affiliate "Chris Gunn". The assailant stabs Chris in the eye before being forced to flee into an old sewer system.

Those two were new and interesting. Interesting as well since it did not seem to be the same assailant. He could see someone attacking Asiv due to his position. Chris Gunn however, that was an unusual target and one that raised some additional red flags. He was an affiliate of the Dragon sure, but there were a lot of people that could fit that description. Most of those people did not have their eyes stabbed.

He'd go back to the folder and look at the other assassination attempts to see if either of these two people appeared to be linked in any way to the other assassinations. Either in description or attack style.

There is mention of a successful assassination on the civilians "Militia" leader where the body was discovered with both eyes removed. The scene was also covered in deep gashes as if a giant blade had ripped through the area.

He would cross-reference the dates of the attack to determine which attack happened first, as well as the locations of each attack to see if they were in a similar location. It was a large territory and if he could suss out any pattern to these attacks it would be helpful.

The dates are within a few weeks of each other with the attack on the Militia leader happening first. Both locations were in the same city once known as "Long Beach" and both happened near a sewer system that was still intact.
