I've Got This... (Leon/Mission)

"Oi! Bail's come find me later I need to be caught up with your adventure, okay?" she'd call out to her as she been excused and start walking backwards to the infirmary waiting for a confirmation from Bailey.

Once she got it their was not much less to do except think about what Leon just told her about Qi-effects and she'd feel her body go slightly cold as her shoulders dropped and she mumbled to herself in a quiet voice. "Not again..."

When they arrived soldiers and medical personnel was finishing up the setup. Tents were set up with cots across the area with guards stationed along the perimeter. Eric would lead the Jeeps into the makeshift compound in front of the large medical tent where he'd step out of the car and wait for everyone to start unloading.

"This will be your home for the immediate future, though I assure you this will not be a long-term living arrangement for you. We have a medical tent here with doctors that are here to examine you all and ensure that everything is in order. If anyone has any questions or concerns please direct them to me, but I ask that we move this along quickly. The sooner we begin, the sooner this is all over."

[Leon]

"A key for the map is a good idea."

Leon would enter his office and hold the door for Bailey. Listening to her explanation of things he raised a question.

"Oh? Why do you say that?"


Out with Eric the people moved through the lines that slowly formed for each of the doctors to get tested, checked and injected. However, Kirin would approach Eric with Sil and the baby.

"I do have a question. Is there anyway we could talk to Bailey later, or visit? If nothing else, we'd like to tell her we decided to name the baby after her."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"I suppose that would depend on how busy she is. I am sure she would be happy to see you and to hear that though."

He'd say, glancing down at the baby. Flashes of crying flickering through his mind, memories of gently cradling his own children when they were just babies. He felt his chest tighten as his features softened ever so slightly.

"She is beautiful. May I?"

He'd ask, motioning that he would like to hold the child.

"How old is she?"

[Bailey Oleander]

Bailey nodded. She'd work on it when they got to his office, then, or shortly after. After a shower at most; the tunnels had been clean, but the power plant had been covered in layers of dust that still clung to her in places. Once inside his office and the door closed, Bailey would take a slow breath and turned to face Leon, her commander. The person in charge and the one who sent her out on her mission. If anyone else had heard of this, he was a likely candidate. That, or he might know someone who was.

"The doors have a symbol that functions as a type of key. In the power plant, there's a crystal that runs off of some type of prototype engine for new energy, but there was also a tree there. It...I'm sorry, this is probably going to sound odd, but it talked to me. When we were done, I had this." She'd raise a hand to show him the tree bark glove on her right hand.

"It can open the doors, but it doesn't go anywhere without me. Literally." The energy she'd read off of it had matched her own, after all.

[Leon]

This was actually brand new information for Leon.

"I did know some of the correctional facilities had advanced technology like that, but... Beyond what I foresee saw."

Leon would move to his chair and wave for Bailey to sit.

"The location you investigated was a known location for possible original of the war for power. These tunnels are known as correctional facilities where troubled youth were sent to have their attitudes or behaviors adjusted to better for society. However, this was a rush to use kids no one would miss as test subjects to artificially create qi users. Easily manipulated and controlled through some sort of genetic marker and telepathy."

Leon would pause as she likely was able to keep up.

"Thought to have been exterminated during the war a scientist or general could give mental orders and they would have no choice but to follow these orders."

Lean would stop for questions.

Eric would be handed the babe, though tentatively.

"She has not yet experienced her first harvest."

Kirin would say slightly confused still by the concept of time.

He was careful with the child. Supporting its head and gently rocking her. So she was less than a year old. It was tragic that she was what she was. He would gently hand the child back to her Mother.

"She is beautiful.

[Bailey Oleander]

That took Bailey by surprise, but she kept questions to herself, at least for now. Se focused on the explanation Leon provided, her lips pulling down into a notable frown as he explained the origins of the people underground, people who had qi forced on them, assumed to be discarded by society. People no one would is. She knew that sort of thing happened, but her chest still ached thinking about it. Not only that, but they could be controlled against their will by the same method and not even be able to stop it.

"So then, what happens to them now?" she asked softly. "I mean, they still could have family or friends out there, right? I guess they're assumed dead, but they're here now." Or, not Cabal. Wherever they were taken. But that didn't mean she couldn't understand the potential danger.

"So they were just kept around, trapped down there since they weren't used for the war?" She bit the bottom of her lip as she remembered what Alex had said.

"Actually, there were panels on top of the power plant. Mr. Geschicht said it looked like they'd been destroyed on purpose.” Like they wanted the experiments below to go without. Again the spasm of pain in her chest.

[Leon]

Eric would notice her green eyes and white hair, though a pendant might catch his eye as he handed the baby back.

"Thank you."

Though for Bailey Leon had more to explain.

"It is likely a part of how things went down hill for whatever master plan they had. Some scientist gets a heart, or some Black ops sabotages it. Any possibility could be the answer."

But it was her question about what is to be done.

"The genetic marker lives in all of them. A veritable army growing under our feet that could turn and be used at any moment. Feral and normal alike. What does logic tell you?"

[Mathew Amtrum]

"What kind of pendant is that?"

He'd ask, peering down at it.

[Bailey Oleander]

... 'No.' The thought rang out in her head as the breath in Bailey's throat turned to dust, lodged around the knot that was forming. Her chest burned as she forced herself to breath, but it felt like the stone coffin in training had left more air for her.

"No." Her hands turned to fists so tight that her knuckled turned white. "There has to be something else we can do. There are computers, records of the experiments. We could go back, try to find something that can counter it, or seal it off. They have just as much a right to live as we do." They were throwing lives away for a presumed threat, but there were Territories that did the same with qi users, and qi could manifest in so many ways.

She'd brought them here to be safe. She'd told them they'd be welcomed. They were in territory's allied range, they could have gone to a place where they could check their qi and help control it.

She'd told them.

[Leon]

Leon decided to give Bailey more information.

"I saw everything. I could not hear it, but I was watching through your eyes. I know the things they went through with you. I experienced it as you did. Actions speak louder than words and if there was something I could do, some test, experiment or anything that we knew of... It would be done."

Leon would shake his head and lower his gaze.

"Things have already gone into motion. I'm sorry."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"I see..."

He said with a frown. It was a lot to take in. He knew that pendant, and he knew the man she described based on the description. He had once considered the man an ally, if not a friend. He wasn't sure what to make of it. How to feel. Was it a betrayal? Was he trying to do good? There was no way to ask him directly that he currently possessed.

"How long ago did you come across the body...?"

He'd glance over at the line to see how things were advancing.

[Bailey Oleander]

He understood what she went through with them. He wanted to help, but there was nothing. The world threatened to spin as she jumped to her feet.

"Try. Harder." Her voice was no longer quiet, no longer shaking or stuttering with fear or emotion. She jammed a finger down on the diagrams and maps that showed the labyrinth. The ones that were feral, the scientists, were safely locked away. Safe because they were alive, at least for now. Unless they wanted her to open the door to more murder - literally.

And the people who couldn't control it and were still in control of themselves were being punished for merely existing.

Without another word, Bailey would turn around, throwing the office door open and racing across Cabal campus to Bay One, starting up one of the Jeeps and grabbing the radio unless someone stopped her.

"Alex, are you there?" Please, please let him be there. She couldn't hide the desperation of her voice as she would drive out!

[Leon]

The lines were moving along just fine. they were in fact ready to call over Kirin and Sil. Kirin would think.

"Before Bailey was born... Two harvests ago."

Bailey would not be stopped. Alex was helping people who were old or injured get settled in when his radio went loud with Bailey's voice.

"Alex here, go ahead."
